The best part is that the raw material in the barrels makes excellent fertilizer after it has been fully decomposed so it can be used to feed the area where the plants were originally taken thus completing the cycle and allowing the process to be sustainable while providing all this free energy from nature.

When I was a teenage boy many years ago I built a similar setup, but instead of using powdered lime I used a neon sign transformer to supply high voltage to electrodes inside the drum. The process is called electro pyrolysis, and it produces large amounts of gas quickly from leaves, weeds, wood chips, or any other moist vegetation. My setup worked very well. It can be used to fuel a small engine driven electric generator which will then power the neon sign transformer. The excess electricity from the generator is free energy from leaves and weeds.

Electro pyrolysis? Could you explain it? I just did a quick google search and didn't see anything about it. I did see regular pyrolysis though. So instead of using a chemical reaction to increase the temperature, does that just heat it up with a current?

    • @frazzledude
      @frazzledude 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

@@midgetman4206 Yes, you are essentially correct. Plant matter is mostly cellulose and lignin, which are similar molecules. They contain carbon. The moisture in plant material is water, which is made up of hydrogen and oxygen. Passing an electric current through the damp plant material heats up the molecules and breaks up the water into separate H2 and O. The reaction is H20 and C become H2 and CO. CO is carbon monoxide which is combustible and burns to become CO2. The Hydrogen is also combustible and burns to become H2O, or water again. This is the same chemical reaction that was used to gasify coal. Do a google search for "producer gas" for more information.

In school with our experiment, we used an inverted plastic trash can inverted inside a larger trash can that was nearly filled with water. A gas inlet tube went to the bottom and came back up a little ways so that it exited inside the inverted trash can. The inverted trash can had an exit tube with hose and valve so that the initial air can be expelled filling the trash can with water. As bio-gas is collected, the inverted trash can rises up. It is hermetically sealed so there is little lost bio-gas. We used cow manure and burned the gas in our classroom.

The einlet pipe in the water bottle needs to be below the water line otherwise any ignited flashback will just fire up from the first tube to the second back to your gas source and BANG! Otherwise.. this is a great idea for off grid and SHTF Thanks

    • @dominic8542

there's no oxygen in there, it's not hho, hho needs a flashback arrestor. You don't need one on your natural gas line because it doesn't have any oxygen in the pipe to ignite. Like a gasifier for wood gas, you can ignite the gas coming out, it doesn't go back in the gasifier and explode there isn't any oxygen to ignite the gas.

So this is your regular composting process. Anthing can go in the drum as long as it can compost. The only thing one should do to compensate for the upbuilding of the gas is n chimney ending about 6m in the air if not in use. (Although the lids does not close airtight and can escape there - very dangerous however causing a cloud of flameable gas around drums) Very good idea. If you have a compressor, you could compress the gas in n gascilinder or cartyre. Leaves takes about 3-6 weeks to turn into beautiful compost, already treated with lime for a higher ph. Thanks for your sharing. You realy should let your gas go through the water in the bottle to get rid of sulpher fumes. O cant fathom orherwise why its there.

I like this video, it really shows the how and as a surprise, you can also use leaves, which is not possible with my biogas plant, which takes only kitchen waste. I like also the modular design (2 containers) to increase capacity. But what about the limestone powder, do I have to add it every time I fill it with leaves? And is there no water? What about the storage (like a rubber tractor tyre)? Has the water to stay under the level of the connection pipe between the two containers? I have a channel specialised on DIY on energy and will recommend this video in my description as a DIY alternative to my ready-to-go-plant that I bought on the market.

Great! Great! Thanks so much for this awsome share. As far as the thing is about gas, my concern is about any risk of explosion. You'd be kind telling me how to keep the barrils full and what is the role of that bottle. Doing so you'll be my first trainer.

To collect moisture. But he needs to put one pipe below the water line and the outlet pipe to the stove above the waterline so when you have a flashback the water wil stop the fire from getting to the gas. Because running it this way is really not safe. And cooking besides the gas source is not a wise thing to do as well.
The kind of gas he makes is safe for cooking.

This is not butane gas as we use from a gas company. It is natural gas. Cannot explode.

1- Lo que uso en la tapa del barril son las válvulas que tienen los neumáticos de las llantas ya sea de un automóvil o una motocicleta.
2 - Hierba de cualquier tipo.
3- polvo de piedra caliza (cálidra o cal hidratada)
      4. Agua de lluvia
