were you able to cut the plastic part out by just removing 2 of the screws from the kick panel -- that 3rd screw is a pain to get to! I have tried every tool in my tool box and get onto that screw and turn it out!
With the front right trim panel out of the way, I can reach the innermost screw with a deep 1/4 drive socket and ratchet. Also is a Canadian model vehicle, so mileage may vary.
The kit gives you a reusable door to use once you have cut away the plastic to give you access to the filter housing. Probably the easiest way to see if you already have a filter or not is to check for the filter door under the dash on the passenger side.
