I have a theory, why the Western Media mysteriously did not offer Myaskovsky. Because he received five prizes from top communist party members. I myself discovered him two weeks ago. I guess I have to say thanks to TH-cam. Greetings from California, May, 2022

I would take the freedom to say he was a genius inspite of all that he went through in his life and bring out such Gems!!!!! That's the greatness of this remarkable human being!!!!
Like the 13th String Quartet, this last Symphony by Myaskovsky was performed posthumously due to Stalin's wrath and the 1948 "Zhdanov Resolution," causing many works by numerous Soviet composers, including Myaskovsky, Prokofiev, Shebalin, Khachaturian and Shostakovich to be banned (or, in the case of works like Shostakovich's First Violin Concerto, Fourth and Fifth String Quartets, and the song cycle From Jewish Folk Poetry, to be composed and then deliberately suppressed until after Stalin's death in 1953). I'm not sure if the 9th Piano Sonata, written just before this Symphony, suffered a similar fate.
I believe someone has typed an "n" instead of a "t" in the conductors' name on the opening credits. Surprised after 4 years and over 8,000 hits nobody has picked this up. Maybe I'm wrong!!!
Part staring 3:22 is so emotional. This symphony is the final goodbuy of composer, being a few month to death while composing it. Understanding upcoming death who could write such light and optimistic music?
How wonderful Myaskovsky has his own personality not a Rach or Medtner though Tchaikovsky and Rimsky are definitely in his blood ! What a feat to have published 27 good sized symphonies .Where did Havergal Brian stop ?

Я открыл для себя эту симфонию 11 лет назад. Вспоминаю события тех лет, когда ее снова слышу. Я ее себе наизусть в уме проигрывал полностью.

Myaskovsky new the end was near, and he was putting up to fingers to the Soviet establishment. A terrific Symphony.

Svetlanov recorded all Myaskovski's symphonies in the 90's. This one is from 1991-93.
