Structural design of underground water tank by SAP 2000/FEM

Design of water tank by shell element in SAP 2000. The backfill, surcharge and water loads are considered for the design. IS code is used for the design. It includes the manual calculation of reinforcement, crack width check and FEM calculation of settlement.

Thanks for the video. It seems that at 28:43 second in settlement combination the cover slab LL is not considered. Is it necessary or not?

Yes, you are right. The slab LL (slab live load) is also necessary for the settlement check. It needs to be included in the settlement combination. Thanks for the feedback.

why do we need to restrain the base slab in horizontal direction? Thanks.

Because the structure is assumed to be stable in horizontal direction.
