    This video was so helpful, but I did notice in your formula you had 6/(100+.08), followed by 6/1.08 & 100 + .08= 100.08. So in your equation that should really be 6/(1 + .08) in order to get 1.08? Correct? That one little hick up threw my math off & im glad I caught in time!

    I like to follow the manufacturer recommendations when I make my candles. I am a beginner, and I am using palm wax blend from Michaels. The instructions for palm wax says 0.5 oz of FO per pound. My palm wax comes already measured; it comes in blocks, so it is easy to make the ratio. I usually make 2 pounds and I use one of those 1oz bottle of fragrance. This mix fills 7 tin candle containers of 8oz.
    It works perfectly for me. And the hot throw is amazing!
    Don't complicate your life.

  • @200joules

    Is there a reason to short your FO, which is what your math does? What am I missing? Why not a true 8% . 6oz x 0.08 = 0.48 FO then 6.00 - 0.48 = 5.52 wax. Minute discrepancy with one candle but x 100 candles different story. Multiplying gives the full %. Division shorts every candle 0.5% FO? What am I missing?

    Is this formula for before or after the wax is already melted?

  • @adic7805
    @adic7805 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hello, I have question. If I already figure out the net weight of the wax by pouring melted wax into an empty jar or silicone mold . Do I still need to divide with the 1.08% to get another new wax weight? Or can I skip this part and subtract the jar/silicone weight with the net weight wax to figure out the fragrance oil weight? And another question is 6oz the desired melt wax weight that you chose for your tin can ? I’m sorry I’m just trying to understand the math 😅

    • @EclipseBotanica
      @EclipseBotanica  ปีที่แล้ว

      I like this idea, I think that would work to subtract the weight of the silicone

  • @adic7805
    @adic7805 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello it me again ,I’m
    Not sure if I missed a step in the formula. I will be using (A,B,C,D and E) for my math problem . I first weight my silicone mold to figure how much it weigh (A) . Then I filled the silicone with melted wax to figure out the net weight (B). After that I subtract the silicone weight with the net weight (A-B) = C then I plug in my new fill weight to the formula that you provided.
    C (100%+8%)
    Then I divided C( 1.08%) = D to get the proper wax weight. After that I subtract (C-D) to get my F.O load = E .
    I attempted to do a candle with with the same mold but after measuring my wax and melting it , it only filled 1/3 of the mold ? Can you please help me ? I thought figure out my wax weight 😣

    In your formula, you said desired fill weight ÷ [100+ F.O %].
    Working out the base,
    100 + (8%).
    100+ 0.08= 100.08.
    Pls where did you come about 1.08?

    People don't measure in percentages. Make the math simple. When I make paste wax for tools, I use 5 parts wax to 1 part linseed oil. Paste wax for finishing is 3 parts wax to 1 part boiled linseed oil. Cutting board butter is 3 parts mineral oil to 1 part wax. What is the calculation for fragrance. x part was to x part oil. Very simple to give us! you say 8%. So...that is 12 parts wax to 1 part fragrance?
