I don't need to tell you that marriage is a constant rollercoaster of positives and negatives. You two are able to carry on constructive, healthy conversations and that is key. Maybe it's time to take stock in what is important and what is not. Perhaps start with rehoming the chickens if they're too much. Get automatic sprinklers for watering. Lists are a very good tool for a lot of people and there's nothing wrong with that. Your kids should have set chores they're responsible for. If Blue feels he needs some time to get out in the world to socialize with other people maybe taking a class or joining a hobby group or bowling league (lol!) would help? My wife and I would sometimes feel the need to rejuvenate our individual selves and it was healthy for us to take a weekend or week away from each other. Sometimes I'd just take a trip to the beach and interact with perfect strangers for a while. Marriage is work...no two ways about it but there is nothing as special and meaningful in life. I lost my wife to cancer two years ago and sure wish she was here now to love and hug and get annoyed at and argue with. To share all the special nuances of marriage with. She had my back and I had hers. Pretty lonely without it.

I have watched your channel for years enjoyed all of the content but never commented on a topic until now. I can totally relate to the who is more hands-on and who rationalizes why they can't be. Twenty years ago I married a man with three girls ages 4, 6, and 9 he was self-employed running a flooring business that was going very well. Three kids and a full-time business was a disaster on every level so I became super step Mom&Dad I managed everything for girls from brushing teeth to hatching eggs for science class and there were definitely times my husband could have done more and would use the job as an excuse to get out things. LOL I would call him out as he walked out the door by saying "Hey I love you" he would laugh getting the message especially when the kids would mimic my words. Fast forward to how life can mess you up. Well the girls are all grown and left the nest we even were able to celebrate our two granddaughters just before Scott passed away suddenly of heart failure. It hit us hard he was only 45 and the picture of health. What I want you guys to take away from my life story are the feelings that each of you would have if the other was plucked away? Our house would have so much going on I would hide in the master bathroom for some peace LOL . Now I live alone in the same house each room I walk into flashes back to one special moment or another. It's bittersweet as a mix of smiles and tears always takes me over. Time passes so fast guys, take all that you can while you can because these are the moments that you will pack away in your hearts to reflect on in your senior years. I pray your health remains strong so both of you can continue busting each other up as you do now well into the golden years. Your post gave me an opportunity to remind myself of how lucky I was to have found love and thankful for the time we shared. Be kind to one another your family needs you. LOL ...No pressure ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
I just wanted to hug you reading this. I lost my wife to cancer two years ago. Memories (good and bad) take my breath away. The fights, boredoms and normal negatives take proper focus when you'd so love to have them back to argue with just one more time. ❤

You two😂! “Normal” is subjective! It looks different depending on circumstance and what works best for an individual/family and it can change over time. Just my take on the subject! Being a parent of an only child, I can understand the guilt when you have to take time to get necessary things done and leave your kids to entertain themselves. My son is now 20 and I don’t have to worry so much about it (even though I do🥴), but when he was little it was a constant struggle! At the ripe old age of ??, I am finally working on setting daily time for myself. Your kids, especially when they are young, become your priority! It’s necessary, at least to me, for there growth and development and that means you lose a big part of yourself in the process. And then, in an ideal world, you start to regain those parts as they grow up and become more independent. Then the child/children become the caregiver as the parents age and need more assistance, the “circle of life”. Again, just my take on things. Anyway, I think you guys are great dads to your kids! Cut yourself some slack and just look at the beautiful, kind, caring, independent kids you are raising! Take care! Much love and big hugs to you all!✌🏽. Your bed room looks great! I think Blue is feeling overwhelmed and unappreciated. Division of chores is a battle all couples have. It's interesting because the bulk of the chores usually fall on the woman in heterosexual couples. The kids are old enough to take on a few chores and lighten the load. Contributing to the family will make them feel good. Otherwise, you all need to make a list of chores that are assign and what day they are going to be done. Put it on the inside of a kitchen cabinet door so you can refer to it. Of course that goes out the door when Matt goes on location.

Blue, there is absolutely nothing wrong with your profile...I think it's very masculine! And boy, is it ever back-to-school time here in Ohio! Every year we have one weekend in August that's called "Tax-free weekend". So this weekend there is no state sales tax on school supplies, equipment and clothing, up to a predetermined price-point per item. I was at Target today and the place was swamped with people taking advantage of all the sales and that tax-free bonus. It almost looked like Christmas shopping!

As a married gay guy with a young son...it's so nice to hear more families stories of just every day life challenges and experiences. Navigating a relationship, being a good dad, balancing home and life, finding time for yourself...but especially in the context of being two gay dads. When I was your kids age, everyone in the house had daily and weekly chores. If I came home from school and my parents were out, a list was left for me of what I needed to get done and by what time (fold basket of clean laundry, refill dog's water bowl, set table for dinner, vacuum living room and dining room was an average list). We ate at different times at night depending on when we all got home from work/activities, but definitely had a set bedtime.
That’s similar structure to what I had growing up. Only I knew my chores and if there was something I had to do which was out of the ordinary then my parents would tell me and I’d just do it. But back then I didn’t have the distractions and toys have today. I was a loner in the mountains and I found it easy to accomplish my chores because I was usually just farting around🤙🏻
I enjoy Seeing a gay couple being regular guys And showing the world that we’re not all Girly. We are all men who just so happens to love other men. House projects together can build friction but at the end of the day you kiss and go to bed and wake up in the morning refreshed
We don’t really care for rings. I personally find them uncomfortable. On occasion I’ll wear it but it isn’t something I have on daily because they are not safe mixed with tools and physical labor like renovating and building.
I grew up in a VERY structured household (dinner at a certain time, chore wheels, bedtime, snacks structured into the day) but no one I knew grew up like that so.... maybe Matt wins this one lol
When Hubby and I got together 35 years ago, I was night and he was day people. While we had our businesses, that worked great! He got things open, and I closed them down. However, then came retirement in 2007. It took me until easy 2012 for us both to be Day Guys together. Works now.

Well at least you guys worry about being a morning person or not, my neighbor's daughter who is 58 stays up all night and sleeps all day. She goes to bed around 9 AM and gets up at 4PM, she doesn't work so it doesn't matter much.

I have watched your channel for years enjoyed all of the content but never commented on a topic until now. I can totally relate to the who is more hands-on and who rationalizes why they can't be. Twenty years ago I married a man with three girls ages 4, 6, and 9 he was self-employed running a flooring business that was going very well. Three kids and a full-time business was a disaster on every level so I became super step Mom&Dad I managed everything for girls from brushing teeth to hatching eggs for science class and there were definitely times my husband could have done more and would use the job as an excuse to get out things. LOL I would call him out as he walked out the door by saying "Hey I love you" he would laugh getting the message especially when the kids would mimic my words. Fast forward to how life can mess you up. Well the girls are all grown and left the nest we even were able to celebrate our two granddaughters just before Scott passed away suddenly of heart failure. It hit us hard he was only 45 and the picture of health. What I want you guys to take away from my life story are the feelings that each of you would have if the other was plucked away? Our house would have so much going on I would hide in the master bathroom for some peace LOL . Now I live alone in the same house each room I walk into flashes back to one special moment or another. It's bittersweet as a mix of smiles and tears always takes me over. Time passes so fast guys, take all that you can while you can because these are the moments that you will pack away in your hearts to reflect on in your senior years. I pray your health remains strong so both of you can continue busting each other up as you do now well into the golden years. Your post gave me an opportunity to remind myself of how lucky I was to have found love and thankful for the time we shared. Be kind to one another your family needs you. LOL ...No pressure ❤🧡💛💚💙💜

I just wanted to hug you reading this. I lost my wife to cancer two years ago. Memories (good and bad) take my breath away. The fights, boredoms and normal negatives take proper focus when you'd so love to have them back to argue with just one more time. ❤

You two😂! “Normal” is subjective! It looks different depending on circumstance and what works best for an individual/family and it can change over time. Just my take on the subject! Being a parent of an only child, I can understand the guilt when you have to take time to get necessary things done and leave your kids to entertain themselves. My son is now 20 and I don’t have to worry so much about it (even though I do🥴), but when he was little it was a constant struggle! At the ripe old age of ??, I am finally working on setting daily time for myself. Your kids, especially when they are young, become your priority! It’s necessary, at least to me, for there growth and development and that means you lose a big part of yourself in the process. And then, in an ideal world, you start to regain those parts as they grow up and become more independent. Then the child/children become the caregiver as the parents age and need more assistance, the “circle of life”. Again, just my take on things. Anyway, I think you guys are great dads to your kids! Cut yourself some slack and just look at the beautiful, kind, caring, independent kids you are raising! Take care! Much love and big hugs to you all!✌🏽. I think Blue is feeling overwhelmed and unappreciated. Division of chores is a battle all couples have. It's interesting because the bulk of the chores usually fall on the woman in heterosexual couples.
The kids are old enough to take on a few chores and lighten the load. Contributing to the family will make them feel good.
Otherwise, you all need to make a list of chores that are assign and what day they are going to be done. Put it on the inside of a kitchen cabinet door so you can refer to it.
Of course that goes out the door when Matt goes on location.
We have lists… but don’t ask were they are… lost somewhere😬

Blue, there is absolutely nothing wrong with your profile...I think it's very masculine! And boy, is it ever back-to-school time here in Ohio! Every year we have one weekend in August that's called "Tax-free weekend". So this weekend there is no state sales tax on school supplies, equipment and clothing, up to a predetermined price-point per item. I was at Target today and the place was swamped with people taking advantage of all the sales and that tax-free bonus. It almost looked like Christmas shopping!

As a married gay guy with a young son...it's so nice to hear more families stories of just every day life challenges and experiences. Navigating a relationship, being a good dad, balancing home and life, finding time for yourself...but especially in the context of being two gay dads. Thanks for your channel and being a great voice for our community.

When I was your kids age, everyone in the house had daily and weekly chores. If I came home from school and my parents were out, a list was left for me of what I needed to get done and by what time (fold basket of clean laundry, refill dog's water bowl, set table for dinner, vacuum living room and dining room was an average list). We ate at different times at night depending on when we all got home from work/activities, but definitely had a set bedtime.
That’s similar structure to what I had growing up. Only I knew my chores and if there was something I had to do which was out of the ordinary then my parents would tell me and I’d just do it. But back then I didn’t have the distractions and toys have today. I was a loner in the mountains and I found it easy to accomplish my chores because I was usually just farting around🤙🏻
I enjoy Seeing a gay couple being regular guys And showing the world that we’re not all Girly. We are all men who just so happens to love other men. House projects together can build friction but at the end of the day you kiss and go to bed and wake up in the morning refreshed

We don’t really care for rings. I personally find them uncomfortable. On occasion I’ll wear it but it isn’t something I have on daily because they are not safe mixed with tools and physical labor like renovating and building.

When Hubby and I got together 35 years ago, I was night and he was day people. While we had our businesses, that worked great! He got things open, and I closed them down. However, then came retirement in 2007. It took me until easy 2012 for us both to be Day Guys together. Works now.

Well at least you guys worry about being a morning person or not, my neighbor's daughter who is 58 stays up all night and sleeps all day. She goes to bed around 9 AM and gets up at 4PM, she doesn't work so it doesn't matter much.
