Biking, hiking, kayaking, swimming, going to live theater/concerts, fairs & festivals, all kinds of eateries, arts & crafts, recreation areas & parks, museums, countless landmarks, history, culture, a diverse community, friendly atmosphere, relaxed countryside...sounds like a perfect retirement town...and all of us here come in different age groups. You're just too young to keep up with us here in Abingdon, VA!!!

@@tommythetrain1945 You will enjoy Glade Spring...it's right next to Abingdon and everyplace in Washington County VA blends together. Everybody is neighbors. The whole county is clean and well managed and law enforcement is good and taxes/insurance are fair because the county is marked as low crime, plenty of stores for shopping, roads are managed good in Winter, people are friendly doing their own business. The area is farming country or use to be...slow paced but comfortable for everybody to make their home. All kinds of folks live here and just respect each other no matter their beliefs or lifestyle. Moving from 1 place to another is exciting and being nervous is normal. I moved here 23 years ago and settled in real fast. This area is easy to make your home. It's not a huge town but it has everything...all the big stores are here or are very near. Lots of activities for different interests. People here just live and work and have families and relationships and just live regular lives like anywhere else. So. Welcome to moving to the area. Everything will be very easy...it was for me.
