As a kiwi, I can see how people may think her accent is more American, but I can actually hear a slight NZ tone.
It's because it's her second language and because shes exposed to so many more tones and accents I guess.
There would also be the point that we don't know how long ago she was in NZ, plus she has bee a trainee and idol in Korea for a while meaning she could have lost the thick NZ accent and adopted a softer combination one.
It's subtle.

I am just curious about your background knowledge of the NZ accent because I lived there 2 years and visit often and Jennie definitely speaks with a mostly kiwi accent. It may not be completely kiwi as there are some things she says slightly differently but for the most part it's kiwi.

I am from New Zealand, and it actually is. Her accent doesn't however reflect that she is from Auckland, but most likely in the North or more upper class areas. Across the three islands (North, South, Cook) there is a slight variation in the way that we talk and our pronunciations just like in Korea. Most of our accent is similar to that of Australia and England (in some parts), but we do pick up some accent and slang from our occupations and from others around us, as we are a very touristy type of place some people adapt the accent from other countries even if they haven't left the country of island.
Jennie, however, did only live here for 5 years, and I don't know how long ago that was. Five years is enough time f=to develop and accent, but she has been a trainee and idol for around about the same amount of time, giving her an opportunity to lose the accent she gained here, and adopt the accents of fellow people in YG entertainment.
