Oh wow, Chris, what a transformation after the CLA. Some beautiful shots!!! I love the look of the Kentmere film, I haven't used it in a long time, so time to buy a few rolls.
我有一个这个相机,我超爱,很兴奋能看到外国友人热爱这一台老的海鸥相机 I have also had a seagull 203 (exported version) and iam loving it, i am glad to share the same excitment of using this camera with someone across the world especially we never met ,but still we have the same hobby and taste😆 High-Five from China where this camera was born!!
Thanks although I'm on the verge of selling my Seagull; I'm going to give it one more roll to be sure but even after a CLA, it still isn't performing that well. A lens hood might help but no idea where to acquire one for the Seagull and whether it would work without vignetting.
I have a Mamiya Six folding camera. I was able to cut a strip of door sealing foam and stuck onto the inside diameter a 42-49mm step up ring. It can be pushed onto the lens of the Mamiya Six. That enabled me to use a 49mm screw on lens hood. Not sure what the size of the of the Seagull. Using this method with an appropriate size step up ring, you can make up your own push on lens hood.
It is a 35.5mm size lens (no thread), I did investigate getting a push on adapter from yesteryear but they seem to be very rare indeed and expensive. On the off chance, I just tried my 3d printed lens hood for my Yashica 24 mat TLR and it fits albeit very loose so will need to try something like sealing foam. I also might just try it on the camera for a couple of exposures to see whether it encroaches into the frame. Thanks for the tip.
Hey, great to see someone else still using folders. I use voigtlander bessa and perkeo. Voigtlander and kodak do puah on filters and lens hoods of various sizes. I would recommend voigtlander bessa 45 which is 6x4.5 super small folder still cheap. Good content again, keep it up..go folders..
Thanks for watching and the comment; not sure where you live but here in the UK, anything with Voigtlander in the title commands a high price, likewise with Bessa. ...
Hi..again..don!t believe the hype. my perkeo was £50 and my 1930 bessa was £15. Bessa 45 aren!t popular and can be bought for for £50-60 if patient. metal lens hoods £25ish. good luck with the channel..
Thx Chris❤ Really glad to see that photographers are still using the old Seagull, I’ve got a Seagull 203 and a 203 B type. Also have problems with the lens, I mean it’s over 50 years since this type of camera has been made. By that time, Seagull 203 and Seagull 4s TLR were the most popular 120 cameras in China.(70s-80s)
Thanks Victor, interested that perhaps the lens issue is inherent with Seagull 203 cameras. Like I said I'm going to do another comparison with my other Balda folding camera before deciding whether to keep the Seagull. I want it to do better but I have my suspicions that its going to dissapoint.
@@ChrisEdgecombePhoto Thanks, folders are a tough one. Most of them are neglected unfortunately. I use my Bessa II a lot. It has been flawless for years.
Most interesting Chris. Do CAMSERVE also look at Olympus kit do you know? I've done some research into medium format cameras, and most of them poo-poo the Seagull models - any idea why that might be? Also, do the Seagulls take interchangeable lenses, and what would you pay in the UK for one of these things? Sorry for lots of questions, but this has really peaked my interest 😀
The seagull appealed as it has a coupled range finder. Jury is out on whether it produces as good as images as my other folder but more tests needed. Camserve I believe will do most cameras.
@@huwalban Folders don't, they are all generally fixed lens. I also have a Yashica 24 TLR (similar to the 124 mat) and thats fixed lens as well. If you want an interchangeable medium format film camera your looking at hasselblad or bronica....

Thank you Ceritat, hoping to get some better results still with this camera.

The results are very satisfying. Thank you Chris

I have a few folder MF cameras. I was not aware of this one for some odd reason. I will be looking for one now!
It is certainly a versatile folder, I need to use it more. Thanks for the comment, good luck in finding one.
