    There’s been 58000 days since football was invented. For one trillion games to have been played there would’ve had to be over 17 million games of football a day every single day since the very beginning of football. If you’re classing a game in the garden with ur brother as a match it might be possible but proper football matches there’s no way

    Sorry Simon lightning can and actually does strike the same place twice it just seems very unlikely cause the contact point is so small but it can happen, the Empire State Building actually has a lightning rod on the top that helps them gain somewhat free power in the building if I'm not mistaken but that point is always struck with lightning. Open ground most likely not gonna hit same spot.

    • @tensemurm5924
      @tensemurm5924 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Should point out that what most people think a lightning rod does is wrong (I don't think you were saying this, but just an additional point).
      A lot of people think lightning rods attract lightning, but they don't in any way. It's just so that if the building is hit, the electrical charge can take a safe route to the ground instead of causing potentially serious damage to the building.

    3:00 Lightning can DEFINITELY strike in the same place more than once. They hit the tallest goddamn thing in the area.
    Had a friend that had a tree near their house that was struck 3 times on 3 separate occasions

    • @tensemurm5924
      @tensemurm5924 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The "hitting the tallest object" is also a myth - kind of.
      Generally, lightning does hit the tallest object in the area. But only if it is close enough, and the definition of 'close enough' is a lot less than people think.
      Also, once lightning hits the ground it can still travel through the ground. So if you're stood within range of something which is hit, you can also get hit by the ground current that flows after.

  • @raff4874

    a trillion is such a big number youd need to have one million football games of any sorts (kids playing in parks and professional football) everyday for one million days, which is almost 3000 years and football has been around for either 1800 or 160 years depending on what you call football, so harry wins the bet

    If we're looking at 90 minute games accounting for one game of football and assuming that there are 10 games happening at every moment, there would be 160 games played every 24 hours. Over 1 year, that would be 58,400 games per year. That would mean it would take 17,123,287 years for a trillion games to be played. Congrats on the 20 quid Harry

      @NoryLevi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@varunatic1832 a quick google search said there are about 275 million people play football at any level (so even including juniors etc). So if they play 1 game a day (lets count training games into it), there would be 12.5 million games a day. Which only take about 219 years to get 1 trillion games. Although this assumption is somewhat a higher upperbound, it's still a lot more than what you are suggesting

    • @tensemurm5924

      @@NoryLevi It will definitely be higher than the other commenter, but I think yours would still be way above a plausible upper bound.
      "Play football" could include people who play once a year with some mates in the summer, or even just people who kick a ball around on astro with some mates. Even assuming those people average 1 game a week would probably be a bit unlikely, depending on how the 275 million was originally calculated
