(2002 / VAN NESS - FOX STAR - PROMETHEUS / 21 mins. total)
Dir. by - Stacey Dowdy

Director Paul Verhoeven, writers Ed Neumeier & Michael Miner, producer Jon Davison, and stars Peter Weller, Nancy Allen and Miquel Ferrer look back on the original classic sci fi / social satire / actioner which many consider the progenitor of the modern comic book film as well as inspiration for the more adult graphic novels of Alan Moore, Frank Miller and others.

i still recall the first time i watched this as a kid when i was 9 back in the day,
it made such an impact, just watched the movie again yesterday, it still holds up and it's still one of my top 10 alltime fave movies ever, it takes my top 1 spot, for movie that made the most impact on me ever. amazing, the new one i don't even bother with in respect to the original and for the folks that worked on it
Agreed ☝🏻
You were 9? Great parents you had lol.
I was 5...
:3
I was 12 and seen it in theater was a great day for me😁
My favorite action film of all time! Terminator 2 is a close second.
I love Robocop 1 AND 2! They're two of my all time favourite films for two different reasons. Let's just pretend 3 didn't happen though...
There wasn't a 3. Only 1, 2, and 2014.
3 was better than 2
@@tonyhodgin1158 put down your crack pipe
They forget to mention about the soundtrack which was amazing !
I was in Denver during summer break from college and I was working two jobs and helping to look after my little sister Erin. I received a free ticket to see this movie back in late July of '87. It is one of my favorite movies of all time. Verhoeven is the best.
Dude I think it's impossible to make other Robocop movie like that without that same awsome crew
robocop is one of those movies from the 80s that will always grow a fan base over the years and will never stop growing.
Gotta love Miguel Ferer’s impression of Verhooven! 🤣
It’s a conspiracy lol
As a kid this was it! I watched this all the time. It had such an impact on me. Now grown up watching has opened up so many things I didn't see as a kid such as the psychology of the film and deep sadness of it. God it's beautiful.
Amazing film. It is a classic !!
watching this in 2020 robocop will be my favorite police officer ever!
Robocop and The Terminator are the best Cyborg Machines hands down
The movie is perfect. I wouldn’t change a thing. When I was younger, I had to sneak to watch it. My mom wouldn’t let me watch it. Even to this day, Robocop still looks cool.
0:47 - Verhoeven's manic directorial style is just great. You could make a movie of just how crazy he is on set.
One of the best movie
I don't give a shit, what they say about the violence in RoboCop, this was a brilliant well done movie.
They forgot to mention Basil Poledouris' badass score...
I saw the original and it was **awesome!**
To this day, still haven't seen the sequels as I didn't think they could match the first one!
I was in my late teens when I saw this..
It gave cops and robbers a whole new level
I watched this when I was 10 y/o I didnt end up shooting my school or coworkers later on!!!
Me too, but I have to say that it may trigger someone who is predisposed to harm. Although, I think many things can trigger these people, we cannot sterilize everything!
I haven’t seen this doc before. Lots of info. I was the Production Designer on the film and man does this take me back to those crazy days in Dallas.
Wow. Nice job. I luved it. Maybe you can convince Peter Weller to remake Kolchak: The Night Stalker. That would flex your skills a little. Same kind of campy, sci-fi horror.
The main fear comes from the fact that it's PG13. It won't have the blood. Which was essential to set the tone for how heartless and unforgiving these criminals were.
Robocop taught me empathy as a kid... The cruel way they killed him and taunted him, even now still has me feeling sorry for him.
Yes, in a way the music is what makes the film timeless, like the original Superman, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Robocop, Iron Man 1, Dark Knight..
I have a feeling it will have the same emotional journey as the original but it's going to be more of a critique of the corporate state more than anything else. The original was as well, but this one, with everything's that been happening, more so.
I agree with you, and black suit? I grew up with Robocop, and the scariest scene was when Alex Murphy is killed. I miss old Robocop.
Lewis still looking good!
Unfortunately they don't produce so goog movies nowdays.Robocop is awesome i was 7 years old when released.
Great movie.. Seattle needs Robocop.
I think they should only remake bad movies if that movie was based off of something, so yes like Dredd. But I wouldn't like someone remaking say, Manos The Hands of Fate.
What about Cyborg Cop 🚓 Back In Action just kidding Terminator and Robocop are the best machines 😆 but that Dredd reboot with Karl Urban did the Dredd Comics Justice even referenced ED-209 lol that 1995 original with Stallone was hilarious it’s a guilty pleasure
Well it's pg-13 so that Hollywood can make the most money out of it as per usual. Your right though, the insane violence of the original movie was what gave it that edgy feel and character.
3:21 called ambition!
That explosion is not some CG crap like nowadays!!!!
you're probably right, I mean look what they did with transformers. none of the autobots aside from OP & Bee had any notable emotional on screen content. but, even then Bee was basically R2D2, & Prime never got to show his true kindness, except toward Sam, & in the monologs after each movie.
oh how I fear for murphy. kindness & heart are why we love these heroes, not violence. lets just hope these guys know that better than Michael Bay does.
I agree with you I think the new one will miss the point of the story. They feel becasue the special effect are better it will be better, like all the remakes they are doing these days they are dead wrong, and will miss the point.
They should have it where he starts off with no personality then his partner AND family figure out it's him and tries to convince him of who he is. He slowly gets his personality back.
El super herue de la infancia.
In the original it also felt to me like they were playing God, They were tampering with a corpse and making an almost Frankensteins Monster from it. Robbing him of his free will and memory. The scenes when he tried to find out more about his past life made it seem like he'd really lost everything. In the new one his family are still around and he maintains his personality anyway, it seems really half assed.
and so does the reboot apparently
Leeza Gibbons was the best reporter Detroit ever had.
نايسNies
The original story of a man's soul trying to overcome the technology that saved it, wrapped in a science fiction veneer. I'm afraid the new film will try to over polish that veneer...
“Can you do that dad?”
Oh you have a full copy of the script? Care to share it I'd love to read it,
In my guess, this new Robocop should be a kind of 'OCP series'. And refers of Murphy and 80's Robocop as an obsolete model. Just like they refer ED209 in Robocop2 as an obsolete model.
But if they going to do this new one as a "remake". Like having the main Character as Alex Murphy again, than it will have my thumbs going down for it.
When Hollywood does that, it feels like a "Sacrilege" to me, just like "the movie for the TV series version" of Robocop in 1994 (a lame version of itself)
The black costume madness started with the matrix
I have a feeling the new movie next year will miss the point of the original Robocop movie of 1987. Like pretty much all Hollywood movies these days they are just soulless, thoughtless cgi filled nonsense. I hope not but I can't see it being emotional journey of the 1987 movie.
Pus the remake script actually ridicules and spites so many elements of the original film and the fans....it's like it's pointing a finger and LAUGHING at the original.
It became a bit crazy when they introduced a jet pack for robo in the 3rd movie, the actor was not as good as peter weller and it didn't sit right at all for me.
The story didn't follow on very well too. I prefer 1 and 2 only,
Damn right
This is the only Robocop film I will watch. After this they fucked up the franchise with number 2 and 3 . And the remake I've never seen and never will. This will always be the best
Seared in the sands of time
2020 RoboCop is in Mortal Kombat 11
I’m not sure what 3/4lb’s is in a weight measurement that I’d understand. Maybe in kilograms or stones? Sorry but I’m a stiff ass Brit. 🤭😁
Typical generic TH-cam comment blah blah blah
Freaking ratings.
And who knows. Maybe to keep Robocop the way he is, OCP will murder his family and that's when he goes against the company. That would be interesting.
I really hate Pale's English
Why remake RoboCop?! I would have thought it would make sense to remake a film if the original film was bad (eg Dredd). Stop bastardising classics!! What is Hollywood going to remake next, Godfather???
Cyborg Jesus.
