And if Shanggu would've just told her the truth, that Wu Huan wasn't a replacement until the queen was reborn, but that she chose her because she was the only one who had courage to take care of her when she was sick and that by choosing a lower rank Phoenix, meant that in the future, as long as one was willful enough to be loyal and cultivate to become strong, they wouldn't need to select the queen. And it would've been a different turn out.

Everything she got, she deserved. Sadly the casualties and the hurt she caused will never be healed

if i remember correctly, his ultimate sacrifice for his shortcomings, since the true gods were heavily disappointed with his performance as heavenly emperor, is to ensure that the wars between immortals and demons will end. that should've never happened because both sides lived peacefully when the four true gods were in the god realm. ig he was still bitter by his master's death and how the demon realm was handled by tianqi that he turned a blind eye with wuhuan instigating a war against the demons. so, to pay for his own sins- and making sure jingjian's sacrifice would not be in vain- he used his body as a barrier between the immortal realm and demon realm. to stop the war once and for all.
