The reason why I like Ancient Love Poetry more than Ashes of love is because of Bai Jue. His love and sacrifices for Shanggu knows no bounds.

Houchi was shanggu with no true god powers. She developed her own personality because she had weak power and was not the chief god. So, Houchi was Shanngu but also Houchi.

Something I'm confused is why when Tianqi dared to take the tribulation instead of Shang Gu, he'll destroy the other realms. But when Bai Jue did it here, other realms were just fine.

Both of their method for it are different
Tainqu's one is harmful for all three releams ,while baiju's one is only harmful for himself only
Furthermore more, Tainqi didn’t have the power of chaos so he had to use other methods. Bai Jue acquired the power of chaos through splitting his soul. So he was able to take the tribulation as Shang Gu would have.
Bai Jue used the 60,000 years to devise a way for him to be able to use the Power of chaos. That's why he split himself into two and it worked.
As everyone said, different methods. Bai Jue figured it out without going against Shang Gu's principles (and his). But I feel like he's the only one powerful enough to have split himself in two and survive, so this isn't something that just anyone can do either.

@@redmoonisa oh, shit. no wonder they were putting emphasis in her storyline o: the fact that she liked sword fighting is also a hint because it's what yuemi was known for. sad we never got to see the kid interact with tianqi during the wedding. that would be a good spoiler for a sequel.
