He who loves most is loved not for what he gives alone, but what he is. Truly one of the greatest of our time. A balladeer and poet with such amazing talent that my only hope is that he does know is name is written above so that all of eternity would enjoy his treasure!! MK is no ordinary singer/songwriter. He is, indeed, one of a kind as all God's people are.
Ti rispondo volentieri. Nel 2019 ho avuto la fortuna ed il piacere di vederlo ancora a Lucca. È stato emozionante e durante quel concerto ha detto che non avrebbe fatto in tempo a venire più. Quello è stato davvero triste
This is one of MK best songs. pity the wider world will never here this great, great rendition. The 3000 people who have seen this you-tube video are better off
Christ I wish I could have been there. What great audio. I've converted this to Mp3 and it is sensational. Is MK the best 3 finger, picking lead guitarist in the history of live music, I think so
He wrote this song for his mother’s brother who was killed at the battle for a place in France called SAINT VALERY-en-caux 1000 men were killed and 10 thousand were captured after they ran out of ammunition and food the whole of the 51st highland division had been captured my uncle James Matthew was one of the men captured he was with the blackwatch royal highlanders of Scotland he spent the next 5 years as a POW and escaped 3 times he lived until he was 85 years young I miss him every day his only brother my father also fought during WW2 with the RAF SADLY MY FATHER PASSED AWAY in 1968 when I was only 12 years old think of them every day
I wanted the AFL to play this in tribute to the ANZACS at the the MCG for the Essendon and Collingwood football match. If you don't understand this post let me me know. I'll show something inspirational for our fallen, Lest we forget

What can one say in words what this mans music expresses.....not enough.

Magnificent, how good is the audio, what a performance, those lyrics blows me away every time i hear it
One of the most sensitive, poignant songs of our time, the outro is pure bliss. Pity the wider musical audience will never hear this
Fantastico concerto! E quel saluto alla fine è come se mi avesse comunicato che sarebbe stata l'ultima volta che avrei visto Mark...sigh!

I looked this up because I saw the notes on a youtube for a non-live recording of this, saying that Lucca 2010 was one of the best of this song :)
Me too! Excellent audio
I totally agree. Amazing.

Wish it had been taped professionally and released on Blu-ray/CD
what a genius
... my imagination flies to infinite space ...
Folks, the outro is how a guitar should be played
Mark Knopfler's Brother disliked this
he became old ... but is still good
