I use elastic string -tied to make like an elastic band - large enough to fit sketch book...put string at eye level (around several pages ) & then use paper clip/tooth pick/whatever to pull string (perceptive) up or down. See example - youtube 'perspective elastic string' - I made modification as i don't often paint w/board outside. Glad you're moved in to the studio, just in time to be sheltering in place! Happy Easter.
Yeah that sounds a bit confusing🤣 I will go check it out thanks. I’ll pin your post too with a link th-cam.com/video/hrtvoBGuBzg/w-d-xo.html Valinco tv
That was cool. I am going to try it. Do you use this on all of your sketches? I do kind of like the imperfections in sketching. But my favorite is bending the buildings like Benedetta Dossi
@@SharonCullenArt I try to remember to use when sketching multiple buildings in 1 sketch - not a big deal as the elastic stays in sketch book - so its convenient.
@@SharonCullenArt i tie elastic ends together (making it like a rubber band) and then slip it over pages in sketch book.(like you do with a bulldog clip- where you clip down half the pages) does that make sense? that way you can move it up /down depending on eye level & not worry about tape popping off..
@@SharonCullenArt This is gonna help so much! I have been urban sketching since this social distancing to get out of the house, and have been struggling with perspective. I have to remember these tips- books on perpective with eye level/horizon parallel perpendicular- SO CONFUSING! Please do more quick little tip vids! Thanks so much and stay safe!
Know that I am thinking and praying for you and your family. Thank you for sharing these tips and tricks for perspective! It really helps me think about how I will tackle the next thumbnail sketch.
Some handy little reminders there, Sharon. I really must get into the habit of the quick value thumbnail before every proper sketch/painting. I always intend to (honest!) but I need to put those intentions into practice more often. Thanks for sharing the video - all the best, Brian.
Tried watching but the jiggly camera is distracting and difficult to watch. I'd love to watch your work if you can figure out how to stabilize the camera :D
I believe I explained what happened in the video. I have a video stabilizer now. I think this video was done at the beginning of the pandemic. Also it is quite a challenge to try and balance a tripod in a vehicle and try to film a video. Many who have never attempted it seem to know what to do!

dw020 do you use tape to secure ends down on each side?

The video started and just went to the point, no long sponsor promotion nd no big intro. This is the content I've been looking for! :D
Well, although i don’t do sponsors, I do have updates before my videos sometimes. You can always fast forward through them though.
Great tips, thanks Sharon!
😉
Great video! Very helpful!
Very interesting video Sharon!

That whats up goes down and down goes up is so helpful!
My mantra! It helped me too when I was learning it. 😊

I’m guilty of the same thing too. Good intentions. But I will too.
