This would be awesome for someone commuting by rail. The problem is weight. I wouldn't want to horse around 40 lbs. But, adding a foldable push bar, so it could be rolled around like luggage, would be a good improvement.

You can keep the handle bar up just not in the open position (so basically keep it in pole-like position) and just use that as a handle to push it around while still keep it compact.

As someone with a heavy kickscooter (+70 lbs), I generally keep it unfolded and ride on transit either with it between my feet or if I manage to get a seat I scoot it under it. Although all of our stations are open though, I can't imagine being in a more closed system like NYC with my scooter tho.

I see no way to lock it up. So either you have to fold it up and take it in with you every time you go into a store or wherever, or you have to accept that you are going to need a replacement as soon as someone picks it up and runs off with it the first time you take your eyes off it. It needs a hole through the center for a big cable lock or something.

Looks okay for something like New York or Tokyo where the ground is always flat and smooth for the most part, with bike lanes. This would be a nightmare to ride in Vegas because of elevation and the terrible/random condition of the roads and pavements. I have a UScooter and it also has solid wheels with minimum style suspension and it's not great, the road rattles your hands into abject pain, imagine what it's doing to the components and wiring, probably one reason why mine only lasted a year, that and a single motor isn't enough for my needs, it's basically a side walk only scooter, anything rougher than sidewalk pavement is uncomfortable if not damaging.

It needs to be rollable like a suitcase rather than carried. Also, any commuter who uses a folding bike knows full well what an absolute pain in the bum they are to "construct" when the weather is terrible (Brompton leading the pack on that front) so just seeing what stages you need to go through in order to get this Honda up and running made me immediately think of my own commute. There's no way I could be bothered putting that together in rain or wind. Far too much faffing. It feels like they put far more design emphasis on it folding into that flat suitcase format, rather than simply focussing on it being a very compact design but extremely easy to construct in a second - which begs the question: why would I get this rather than a simple electric scooter that is lighter to carry when required and even more compact? This Honda is a nice looking overall design, but as a concept...a design geared towards a very specific customer, there are better options available already. I think what they have done deliberately though, is give it a design language that can very easily be customized through branding. It's clearly a drivable billboard so I can see this very much zooming around airports and corporate events etc, covered in advertising.

Agreed. In general though, these type of things are interesting. I have thought of boating down the East Coast with some form of small electric mobility device, so one could explore the cities along the coast. Small, compact, take them out when you need them for local ground transportation. Ah...digital map display would be an essential.

Not everyone is comfortable riding a standup 2 wheel scooter. This is appealing to me as someone who has to park about 1/4 mile from my office. On hot days, it is much easier for me than walking in in suit. Or around campus. Plus I am not some 30 and under. I also like that it closes up like a suitcase. Much cleaner to store in my truck that already has limited space.

Reminds me of the Sinclair C5, that didn't work out so well. Surely a simple electric scooter would be: lighter, easier to store, doesn't need to folded up, faster charging, cheaper to buy and maintain, more compact, not make you look really uncool. Look, some people are happy to wear sandals and socks, so may be a small market. And as @shazbot7192 says, that seat is waaaay too small, unless you from Japan (no offence intended to Americans or Japanese people :)

This thing is common in China, they use it as a luggage/scooter.
They sit on their motorize luggage boxes and move around and when they are not riding on them, they program the luggage boxes to follow them.

I like the idea but 40 pounds is still pretty heavy. Whereas the Arma Scooter is 10lbs and can fold into an easily held package which can also fit in a backpack. The Arma has less range though, But I suspect 7 miles is more than enough to get to an office from mass transit. I’m leaning towards the Arma simply because it’s a much more compact and easier to carry package.
