The camera-work is absolutely flawless . The nose on the Ferrari 640 is absolutely perfect to me . Perhaps the most iconic ? Ok , plus the Lotus 72 & 79 , oh , and must include a Dan Gurney AAR Eagle of '67............However , the finishing touch would be a little low-rev rumble and growl , then a blip of a howl ! I do appreciate the sheer logistics and costs on putting on such a demonstration . Thank you so much for doing these fine videos . Love'n peace . Pete . edit Sorry . "Our Nige"
    The heart break and the joy. The respect and the bumps ( show us where ...Murray Walker points it out with some discomfort). I know many will harken to Ayrton Senna, but I at the time disliked Prost, Piquet and Senna as they at times were very unsporting, but our Nige, may have moaned, but he drove with respect for others.
    These two cars are a special to me as any other in F1 history as I woke up or stayed awake till silly hours to watch him, even when he went to Indy Car (and Won).
    He is my F1 Champion that could of been multiple if not for this or that. I still admire other WC but Nige was something many of us connected with.

    • @johnhassall1782
      @johnhassall1782 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Absolutely,, any rival of Nigels was a sworn enemy to me back then,,,, Nigel could quite easily have been a triple wc,, people seem to over look the fact that he raced 3 of the greatest of all time week in week out,, and did beat them fairly and squarely!! Hungry 89 was and still in my opinion one of the best drives ever,, and to pass probably the goat for the lead whilst driving probably a slightly inferior car just adds to province of the ferrari not that it needs any,, I wish I had a few quid 🤣✌️

    Growing up as a teenager in the 1970’s , most of my sporting hero’s were from the same era . Loved the competition between Niki Lauda and James Hunt ( yes, I love Rush!) , but my favourite time for F1 was late 1980’s/early 1990’s , where any one of 4 drivers could have one the title . Possibly, the most highly competitive time to date. To me Ayrton is undoubtedly the GOAT , without any question ( cried when he died) , but our Nigel was certainly a most brave and determined driver. Gave. British fans a lot of happy memories.

Theres just something special about that Era that doesn't exist now, not that that's a bad thing, we was lucky enough to witness it, but modern F1 doesn't have the feel of proper excitement you used to get when Senna and Mansell were battling it out. These are not just cars they are icons! I have been watching F1 since I was a kid in the late 1970s but this was my favorite era of F1. Senna, Prost, Mansell and Piquet now all racing gods! Thank you for letting us see these mechanical legends!

    Where do you even start trying to put a value on those? Two of the most iconic cars from the pinnacle of Formula One, and completely unrestored and unmolested. It will, as you say, be very interesting to see what they sell for! But as with the McLaren F1 episode, the numbers are just incidental. The main thing is that these pieces of history will live on and be appreciated by all racing fans for years to come.
    Thanks for another cracking episode Jodie!

    Great video. I saw that Ferrari race at Silverstone in ‘89. Was my first Grand Prix, my Uncle had taken me there for my birthday. Great memories. Will always remember the sound, tv doesn’t do it justice. They were deafening.
    I then saw Nigel and red 5 race in ‘92 and win the race. I was part of the track invasion when he won. I was stood on the track as Schumacher passed me in the yellow Benetton and waved at me, I could have reached out and touched him I was that close. Still cars were going round and racing. It just wouldn’t happen the same today. Just the best memories.

    Nigel, MY Idol when young. I was watching F1 from 85 or so and being in Spain wasn't easy to be a Nigel Mansell fan. Everyone was a McLaren fanboy for Prost or Senna but I KNEW Nigel was faster than them. His speed wasn't unmatched by those two. NIGEL was THE BEST.
    He is a LEGEND. I'd love to have media pass to shoot those lovely cars or anything else FOS brings in a couple weeks, this is THE event I need to join

    Wow, crazy to see the DIGITAL Equipment sticker on the nose of the red Ferrari. Digital was one of the first and finest computer companies. They built large mainframe machines in central Massachusetts. I had many friends that worked there. They were the largest employer in Massachusetts in the 80's. Unfortunately they didn't see how fast the personal computer was growing and was left behind . Exciting to see they were involved in F1!

    Only 3 things stopping me from buying the Williams (I remember Nigel stopping to pick up Senna), not the smartest use of my money, I live in California currently (may return to the UK at some point) and I am sure my wife would not be happy with this in the living room. Wow! Two of the best looking F1 cars of all time. How simple and clean that Ferrari looks. That is the one with the updated air intake above the driver, it didn't look like that when he won the first race in Brazil but in my opinion it looked much better following this update 👍 what can you say about the Red 5 Senna taxi! Iconic, legendary, memorable...battling with the Red/White McLaren cars. Great memories and as mentioned there, played out to the soundtrack of Murray Walker & James Hun

    The semi-automatic gearbox fitted in the car has been invented by the genius of Mauro Forghieri 10 years earlier than its debut in racing. In 1979 Villeneuve tested the F1 car with this solution, did a hundred laps in Fiorano and the gearox worked fine. Was faster than the manual gearbox and reliable, despite it was a prototype. But Giles decided to talk to Enzo Ferrari and said to him that he would prefer to drive with the manual gearbox. For this reason the project was put aside, until Barnard resurrected it.
    Villeneuve decided to don't use it, because the prototype that he tested had lot of electric cables going over the steering wheel and, according to Forghieri, that scared him, not realizing that in the final version those cables would have been covered and moved away from the steering wheel. Don't know if Barnard ever told the full story :)
