I have combination/oily skin and I have been LOVING this product! It doesn't separate, it's lightweight, and I've actually been applying it with my RT Complexion Sponge and it applies beautifully. And as you mentioned, you really don't use that much product and I appreciate the ease of application.
I will say though, if I'm nit-picking: I can't take it up under my eyes, I stop at where my orbital bone starts because otherwise it will end up in my fine lines and look crepey. But it looks great everywhere else on my skin.
I've been looking for someone who has the same type of skin I have so I can tell if this is probably going to work for me. thanks for letting us know.
So what do you use under your eyes then? Regular concealer? And can you tell where your foundation ends and concealer begins? Also, I think we oily skinned girls will have more of a problem with such foundations when the summers come around, that's when I'm the most oily for sure!
Zarlasht Qadir Khan I use the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer. I concentrate keeping the concealer just under my eyes, right in the darkest parts of my eyes. Foundation, even with any other foundation, I only take it as high as my cheek bones up to my orbital bone. I don't put foundation under my eyes because concealer is going to go there, and why pile on more makeup. That's my preference though.
You're right though, this foundation, I don't think I'll be able to get away with using it in the warmer months. For oily skin, it might be a great winter months foundation.
What if u have dry skin
+Marie Song I'm pretty sure it's going to work even better on dry skin
I have incredibly oily skin myself. It works fine, doesn't break down or look greasy. Sometimes throughout the day, I need to use a powder on my face but I have to do that with pretty much every foundation so
It offers the complete range that the TrueMatch has, if i remember right.
I honestly love it and I use it with the Lumi concealer and highlighter and it looks A+
I STRONGLY suggest getting the Korean brand miracle cushions. They were the original founders of this "stamp" technology, and honestly the quality, packaging, and finish are so much better than the American versions. The best I would recommend are the iope and lineage cushions.
Laneige BB cushin SPF 50 i love that one its amazing with water bank serum used as a primer !
Yes, completely agree. I'd rather buy their products first since they seem to be more advanced in their makeup technology...
Laneige BB cushion, water bank serum, water sleeping mask are my fave and there concealer! Have you tried any of them yet?
+Team Supercorpion i haven't hear of those product yet. I'm missing out on something :(
Wow thank you guys for this thread. Just took a screenshot so i can try everything you guys mentioned. Is there any specific site you guys use to purchase Korean products?
You are the first person I have found to demo it with normal/dry skin and I thank you. I wasn't going to try it because so many reviews haven't been favorable, but they were also acne-prone and/or oily skin. I will try anything once and have an Ulta coupon so why not.
I am so glad that you do these types of videos, your opinion really helps me to decide if something new is really worth trying. I wanted to try that foundation but now I don't think it's the right foundation for me. Thank you Jessica, I really value your opinion!
We uploaded the same video on the same day! Love it!! 😄😄😄 Happy Monday!! hugs!
I'm subscribed to both of you! it was interesting to see different points of views. you both did awesome jobs! ❤❤
+Candice Nicole jiji I just watched your review too. ;) & liked it too.
+Candice Nicole Getting ready to watch yours next!!!
The prices at the drugstore are out of control!
Specially L'oreal and some Covergirl and Maybelline products! Last night I saw the covergirl plumpify mascara at $11.79, that's so expensive for a drugstore mascara..
The physicians formula cushion foundation is $18 + tax here.
+Meg Wharton That's so expensive Dx those are almost highend prices!
Try living in Australia. Maybelline mascaras cost $20-$25
+Shellee Rose Wow that's so much money!! Try buying them online. Here in Puerto Rico the tax is 11.5% and soon it will be 16% so makeup will get even more expensive
I have dry/combo skin and I LOVE a natural glow/dewy look! Can't wait to try this out! Thanks Jessica! ❤️😊
W2 was Oompa Loompa orange on me so i'm glad it worked for you! I loved the consistency on my dry skin
I know, I was surprised to hear her say W2! I heard that the warm shades were bit orangey, and she seems more neutral to me.
Me too! Not a good shade range!:(
+faeryspice It comes in W=warm C=cool and N=neutral. Most of the displays were it is sold have stickers that you can match your skin to. I thought the warm (W2) as a little orangy to so I went with C3 and its perfect. Hope that helps :) It is awesome on dry skin.
+jennifer leidolf Does C3 have underlying pink tones to it? Typically that is the case for cool-toned foundations. I'm looking more for a slightly yellow toned foundation color but obviously I don't want it to be orange! haha
+melss94ish I wouldn't say it is a pink tone definitely not a yellow tone to it, but if you are worried about it I would go with the neutral colors. 😀
I just recently bought this at Walgreens, and I am so grateful that the lady who was checking me out had a coupon because it went down to $11 for this, which honestly made it hurt less. I've got pretty dry skin and I absolutely love this foundation so far. I've found it to be very comfortable, the match for me was spot on, and the coverage is nice. I will probably cry when I run out.
Thanks for the review! I don't use it initially in the morning, I throw this in my purse. It's amazing for people with dry skin who need to touch up during the day. After eating or at the end of the work day before going out! It's perfect!!!
I have really oily skin and I love this product! I prime my face with a mattifying or smoothing primer and then I set it with a translucent powder and it works great! Looks very natural on the skin and doesn't break up on me! :)
Your statement necklace is STUNNING!!!
Thank you for actually applying this with the sponge. There are days I do makeup on the go and was wondering how this would work. I'm not sure I like this personally but your review was very helpful for me.
it's super easy to use on the go and touch up throughout the day. If it's too pricey for you you can actually buy the compacts empty online and fill them up with a foundation of your choice or BB cream/tinted moisturizer. When you add foundation you can also mix in a sunscreen for some spf protection, a moisturizer or serum, highlighter, etc
Essentially customizing it to your own skin, it's super easy! Just look up some diy cushion videos here on TH-cam.
You can also make ones for blush with a liquid blush and it leaves a nice soft blush look if that's what you like
I have been using the Korean version of this kind of makeup for years but I just recently purchased this....and let me tell you I LOVE this more than the Korean brands. The coverage is awesome and lasts all day. The secret is in the sponge and it is easy to clean. (Do not try to put it on with a brush or BB, its not the same) I have dry/normal skin and this is a life savor in the winter months. Oh try putting on your concealer on with the sponge, its a life changer. I want to buy a million of those sponges!! :)
I bought this a couple of weeks ago in the same exact shade. I love it! I love to tap my damp real technique sponge in it and apply it that way.
Thanks for the review Jessica. I've been using the Lancôme cushion for a few months now and love it so this may be a nice alternative. You mentioned there wasn't a lot of product and I agree, I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this or if it will work with the loreal cushion but you can flip the cushion to make sure you get the most out of it. Enjoy your day!
I have super oily skin and to be very honest i love it! Its so natural looking and doesn't emphasize any pores on my skin! But the price ehh but good product love your videos Jessica!
That pink eye shadow is amazing on you!! :)
That shade matches perfectly to you!!!
I would love to see a night time/morning skincare routine!!
i recently bought this foundation and i love it! i never used the poof thing to apply it though! i use the elf professional powder brush (i think thats what it called, i used in my last video, if you're curious) and it works really well, and gives me a medium but build able coverage! i love it a lot!
I've heard multiple people rave about this. Looks like it's on my list when I run out of foundation. I love the regular Lumi foundation.
I love using my beautyblender rather than the puff that comes with it and it looks great and it's easy to clean. I have repurchased this twice. I just brought the ELF flawless finish foundation which I have truly fallen in love with. I love it even more than my estee launder double wear or Urban Decay Naked Skin
Thanks for your honest opinion! I don't think I'll jump on the cushion bandwagon. Twice as expensive, half the product, packaging that is "cute" but not really practical since most don't seem to use the applicator included. Too many other drugstore foundations already out there that fit my bill.
That foundation looks AMAZING on you!!!!!
Wow, finally cushion foundation in drugstores! But it will be a while before it gets to Europe. I know this kind of foundation from korean cosmetics and they are great. I have 2 tips:
1. They say that you should first swipe the foundation on your face before you start patting it - it should be more buildable this way.
2. For cleaning try Daiso Detergent for puff and sponge. I order it on ebay but I heard that Daiso even has shops in USA. It is really great, it washes the sponge into completely clean.
LOVE that necklace! gotta try this foundation now
Hey Jessica! You can actually wash the sponge really easily when it's dirty by just laying it in your palm, add some soap(I use hand soap or any facial cleanser) and saturate the sponge with water. After which you can use your fingers to press out the product starting from the centre! I have many of these kind of cushion foundations as it is super popular in Asia! No need to go out and waste unnecessary money to buy a new one each time when it's dirty ^-^
Thank you for doing this review, I am really curious about this foundation. It looks amazing on you!
im digging mine. wear time is good as well as coverage
Thanks for all you do. I got a friend staring to watch you. It's funny we'll randomly say 'it's jam jab time'.. Cheesy I know but you are incredibly talented.
And you can always fill it with your favorite foundation and a serum plus illuminater and bam! Brand new with only using what you already have ^_^ love your videos!
You are very right it is price for the amount of product you get. I think i'll try it if I see it on sale if not I might just skip it. Thank you for the video as always very honest.
I love this foundation, it's dewey but natural, sits so well on my skin and is as undetectable as my fit me concealer. It's outrageously expensive but I'm already considering a back up.
The cushion foundation idea was made in korea. It's a huge trend there!
The makeup look you are wearing today is beautiful. It is probably my favorite look you have worn, of course that is just my opinion.
I recommend using the solid beauty blender cleanser to clean the puff. I always use it to clean the puffs for my cushion foundations, and it can get rid of all the foundation on the puffs and they look like new after cleaning :D
I think it looks beautiful on you! The nice thing about the drugstore is that there should be sales, coupons and cash back vouchers on this item so you shouldn't have to pay full price. There isn't a lot of product, but when I use mine, it doesn't feel like I'm putting a lot on my face. A little goes a long way.
Wondering what eye shadows you're wearing today? Pretty!
I use a beauty blender sponge to put it on and I think it works a little better than the puff!
I use a Korean brand cushion foundation, since I am an American living in Busan, and it works beautifully. Especially when my skin breaks out.
I bought mine at Walgreens during a sale and I used coupons which is the way to go. I purchased it for $11.99 for that price it's really worth it. I'm loving it for my mature skin. It looks very dewy and youthful for me.
Good review and I love your honesty. ♥ Elle
Like many others who commented below, I would go with a Korean brand. They really have it down to a science including application. *Also, there are CC cushions for those who don't enjoy BB creams and/or cushions. Thanks for the review😊
I was not a fan of this, I actually returned it. And I never return stuff. It made my face look so cakey and dry, idk it looked awful on me, at first it was beautiful, and then after about 3 hours it was cakey and dry. And I didn't powder my face at all. I do have extra dry skin btw. I have a review and demo on my channel, if your curious for more of my thoughts on it from an extra dry skin girls prospective. I really wanted to like it, because I love the lumi foundation. Haha great review as always Jessica! ☺️
Super SUPER helpful thank you so much. I have been really curious about this new cushion foundation. Can you review the new Physiciana Formula cushion foundation too? Now I know that I do definitely want to try this one out.
I have dry skin and I'm obsessed with this foundation. It's gorgeous packaging, gorgeous finish and coverage. The only bad thing is the shade. I'm very fair and N2 is slightly dark and a hint of orange on me but I just bring it all the way down my neck so it doesnt bother me. They need to come out with lighter shades.
I've been using laneige for a few months now. it's the only bb cushion I've tried. I love it. for the price difference it comes with a refill and a second applicator. 34 bucks at target. I'm still on the first one and it's going strong. the downside is it limited to colors. I added a few drops of a darker foundation. you really only need 4-5 "pumps " on the cushion. you would then apply by pressing/tapping into the skin. remember to flip the inside sponge with tweezers to get the last bit of foundation. I clean my applicator the same as a beauty blinder.
Please do a BB creme video! I have combo/dry skin and I can't find a good BB creme that makes me look semi glowy and not patchy!
I HAVE to know where you got that necklace!!! Ruby is my birthstone and that is gorgeous!
you could get the "air puff" sponges from the us memebox website, they have a set of 5 for $5 and they're really nice quality :) also, it's not too hard to clean them. I use an oil cleanser on a dry puff first, massage it in, then massage in some water to emulsify the makeup and rinse. Then for round two, i'll use a bit of my facial cleanser to remove the rest of the makeup from it.
I was so excited for this because I think it's so travel friendly... Something you could keep in your purse for easy touch ups if you're on a trip and you don't want something super bulky. However when I heard about the price and how little product I was like what the heck?!
You can order replacement cushions on memebox or missha online, some people will have seven, one to use a day and just wash them all together at the end of the week. For hygienic purposes of course, so glad the western market is staring to release these but I hope they start to include spf like the original Korean cushions
the sponge can be washed :) done it many times with the one that came with my cushion (not this particular cushion foundation), the product wash off really well with my brush cleaner or dish washing liquid
Still hoping for you to one day do an eyeliner tutorial! I know, I know...you don't do tutorials, but that's really the only way I could think of to word it. I'd just like to see your technique, and I know you do in 3 layers, and I love the eyeliner you always have. I've been practicing and I think I'm getting a lot better at it, but wish we could see how you do yours too!
I was in Walgreens today and I saw the display and I was like holy crap, $17! Das Espensive!
lol are u being sarcastic? there are $17 foundations???? here in the Middle East I needed a powder bc all my powders were dark so I just went to the drugstore to pick any powder so I got the loreal infallible powder and when I payed for it it was 100 rials... which is $28 .
+Satrallah Alawlaqi totally not being sarcastic, $28 would be for a high end product here in the states. I know makeup costs a lot more in other parts of the world, but if it cost that much here I probably wouldn't bother with it lol. That's why I love Jessica, she shows us some great values!
+Satrallah Alawlaqi it is for a drugstore in thr US
In Australia, it's not out yet but it's probably going to be around $30+ 😁
I was looking into the Laneige one at Target thinking it might be priced better, but nope! It is $34. 😑 that was a bummer because it is lovely.
Hey girl, your eyeshadow is amazing today!
Thanks for the great review! I love your eye makeup and lipstick. what are you wearing?
Honestly $17 for a cushion compact isn't all that expensive in Asia, but they do usually come with a replacement cushion that you could 'snap' back in the case. It's exciting that the US is finally coming out with a cushion foundation tho! gotta cut it some slack for being the first drugstore option
I LOVE this foundation. It has become my "go-to" over the past few weeks. I have normal to combo skin and I absolutely love the way it makes my skin look and feel. I am finding that a lot of drug store products, especially foundations, are up there in price these days. Unfortunately, I don't think it's going to get any better. :/
Thank you for your honest review, so helpful.
My favorite drugstore foundation is the flower brand by Drew Barrymore at Walmart it's like $3 and I always get compliments when I wear it
Hi Jessica, great review! Thank you for doing this. I've been using the OG of cushion compacts IT Cosmetics VCC Veil Cushion Compact. (OG in the US, anyhow.) Unlike how the Loreal one worked for you, the IT Cosmetics really gives me that your-skin-but-better look. So natural! I usually stick to more affordable products, but this is one of the few items I'll splurge on. (Get mine through QVC.) I'd love to hear how you think the two compare. Take care!
I've watched another video on this foundation and they stated that they do not recommend using the sponge that it comes with because it obsorbes the product. They recommend using a different sponge or beauty blender that will distribute the product more and give better coverage.
This is the first and only foundation I use I LOVE it. It works so well with my dry skin. I use my beauty blender I don't like the sponge it comes with because I feel like it absorbs too much of the product. But yah I loooooooove this foundation.
I really like your makeup in this video. So pretty :)
u should try it with a beauty blender bc the sponge soaks up a lot of foundation, actually more than the beauty blender, try it and see =)
Would it cover a bit of roscia on the cheeks do you think? It looks great on you Jessica!
you can use a regular face brush for cushion foundations. You just have to experiment a little, if the cushion bothers you.
Great review Jessica, it is a bit pricey, but love the look and how natural it looks on the skin :)
With my cushion foundation I use my beauty blender. I just tap it onto the cushion and apply to my face. It works great!. I then press a powder onto my face to seal it in the skin.
Good way to start your day! Great review! Have a good day!
seen your review on this and it does look good on you, I've got no blimies but I'm also in my mid 40s so not sure if it would work for me. thanks for your review
I read off the L'Oreal website that you can wash the puff that you use to apply the foundation so it won't be all gross and so you don't break out. I heard the best way is using bar soap to clean it, but I haven't tried it, but it seems like it would work!
I really like this foundation, and have dry skin. It cosmetics also has a very similar product. I'm waiting for these companies to come up with refills!
Jessica, you look stunning first of all, the darker hair, your eyeshadow, the hoops! What blush are you wearing btw?? I have dry skin i think i'm going to give this foundation a go! :D thanks for reviewing!
omg i was wondering about this, i saw it earlier today.
(btw, you are so gorgeous with and without makeup)
Iope's air cushion puffs can be bought on eBay as replacements. It's the exact same thing.
hey Jessica. I've followed you for awhile and I still can't believe you live in Indy. I live in southern Indiana and just knowing someone so beautiful lives by me is so cool.
I remember Almay used to make a cushion foundation. I think I still have it someplace. BTW what is your lipstick? I love it.
I wore this today and it clinged to my dry spots :-(. I want to love it. Maybe this spring it will work for me. It went on so easy too.
It looks really pretty on you. I'm going to try it.
I got one from the korean brand IOPE, a CC cushion ($30) which is in between of drugstore n high-end I will say.
The main points I like this is: it's easy, quick application, very dewy (suppose to give you the fresh, dewy finish)
but I also have the same problem with the sponge, it gets dirty after a few use but since it is a specially made sponge, Im not sure if I should just clean it like other sponge.(the brand give out one extra cushion for free but minus the sponge, which I think it's more important)
I'm curious about this, but I have four foundations I love and need to go through first.
Well I guess L'oreal will have to start thinking of releasing a refill for these cushion foundations. Because that's how it goes in South Korea and other Asian countries. The first buy is always a bit expensive, because you got a case + cushion foundation + special sponge. Next buy should be just a refill for the cushion foundation + new sponge. The Korean brand even releases special editions (e.g. Christmas, Spring, Summer, etc) casing alone and they also sell the sponge separately. I have tried several Korean brands from Primera, Hera, and Laneige. So far my favorite is Laneige (pore control). But I have an unopened refill cushion from Sulwhasoo, which I'm hoping I will love after I finished up with my Laneige. Most cushion I finished in about 2 months time, when I use them every single day. I can't wait to try my Sulwhasoo one :P
First I must preface this by saying I pretty much exclusively buy Korean brand products and at first I was excited that American brands were following suit with cushion foundations. Personally, they are my favorite and I prefer them to normal foundation or Korean bb cream (which is more like foundation than a tinted moisturizer), but I found the American cushions to be rather disappointing. The American designs are horrible and you can tell that companies look at it as a fad rather than building it as something that can permanently be part of their brands. Typically, Korean cushion foundations are designed so that you can replace your cushion by taking out the old one and snapping a new one in its place, and the replacements are the same price or cheaper than normal foundation, but you can't replace the cushion in any American drug store brand! Also, I'll be real, there isn't a really good way to clean your pad, so companies will sell replacements for between $1-$5 USD, but there doesn't seem to be that option for the American Drug Store, which means if your pad gets gross, then you either have to buy a new applicator from Korea or buy a new compact. It's obvious that American companies aren't making cushions a practical purchase, and it's not hard because Korea has set up the framework to make cushion foundations and proves it.
However, this is my pro-tip, I buy a lot of the nicer sponges separately from luxury Korean brands and use them with my drug store cushions as a way to get a better application.
Maybeline launch cushion foudation in Asia, too.
It's much cheaper than L'oreal one hahaha.
but for cushion foudation $20 is just in middle level. There are still lots of cushion which launched by Korean brand and the price go up to $50 or $60!(EX:Sulwhasoo)
Well, I think you should try korean cushion foundation because they're the first one to make cushion foundation. You should try IOPE Air Cushion Compact, Amore Pacific Cushion Compact Broad Spectrum or Innisfree Ampoule Intense Cushion.
Will try it! You look so pretty
Can you do a look without eye liner?
Also what are you wearing in your lips?
Great video!!😊 definitely want to get this now!!
I love the lumi foundation with a beauty blender
Have you ever tried to use this with the beauty blender?? Just wondering if that would work!? Great Review!!! I want to try this! xoxo
Do you think this would be a good foundation to use in the summer since it's so light ?
Have watched many reviews on this product and most recommend beauty blender stating it uses less product and leaves better finish
Would this work for oily skin? Thanks Jessica loved this review
+Kendall F i have oily skin and i use this! i set it with a loose powder, but even when i set it, it doesn't take away the luminosity. so my skin looks dewy but not oily, i do have to touch up my nose a bit but thats it
what eyeshadow r u wearing? it is gorgeous!
I like the regular lumi in the bottle so what's the difference between the two besides package ?
Hey Jessica! Since the start of the year I've been getting more and more into makeup. Before all I wore was foundation, press powder, and mascara. I want to ask for a eye shadow palette for a bday in a couple months. What palette would you recommend for eye shadow beginners? I have been looking at the Lorac Pro and the Tartelette bloom palettes. Also, I love your videos and you're one of my favorite TH-camrs! Xoxo love ya
+BreannBeauty thanks so much!
+BreannBeauty I will make sure to subscribe to your channel! Thanks so much for the help(:
+BreannBeauty I'm studying to be a teacher right now! I love drugstore products. I'm a huge believer in makeup on a budget.
My experience with this is that I'm uber pale and pink, the C category of this product didn't go pale enough, however, the N had one that was light enough. As for the puff, I had mistakenly swiped it (with product) over my eyeliner. (Yikes!) All I did to "clean" it was took a Garnier Clean + cleansing towelette and swiped it over the puff, then folded it up and concentrated my efforts just on the liner and it cleaned up well. So I can now use the puff without worring about getting eyeliner all over my face when I put on my foundation. (For reference, I'm a MAC NW15/N3 and found that the N2 nearly perfect....yeah, DS foundations don't usually work for me because most are too dark and/or too yellow) Have a great day!
