    I brought my 2013 Gt500 to Germany, so I can go as fast as I want. It's still weird when I pass police on the freeway at 150 MPH+. It still doesn't feel right. There is so much work on the autobahns that it is very rare that you get more than 30 or so km/h of autobahn before they slow to 120 km (at least where we live). FYI, I normally cruise at 100-120 MPH just for the gas mileage. It costs about 85-100 USD to fill up! It's good that it is just a summer car.

    • @ShelbyFlyer
      @ShelbyFlyer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would be AWESOME! The only time I was on the autobahn, I was in a big blue 44-pax Air Force bus doing about 50 mph. Driving one of these cars there would be a thrill!

The older gt500s were cool because they had a badass manual trans and they had their own engine the old school mod motor doing their own thing and still making big power not just being coyote based like everything else is now. @jeffskaggs2410 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    A couple of notes from the guy in the left lane: the '20 DCT is so superior to my shifting abilities it wasn't even funny. There were several races where I was trying to time my shifts at redline and bumped the rev limiter before the shift, which slowed me down considerably. Even when I hit my shifts, his were at least twice as fast as mine and always right at the redline. Also of note, I was running stock width wheels/tires (9in/285s), his rears are 11.5in/315s. That's a LOT of difference when trying to hook up at the very beginning of the race. Lastly, I had traction control turned on all day. Any loss in traction caused my car to pull back for much longer than if I were to be feathering the throttle to control traction (I think). Even with a little extra wheel spin, I think I would have had an equal or small advantage off the line/low speed rolling starts. All in all, my '13 did a great job and I am thrilled to be a Trinity owner! =)

    • @ShelbyFlyer
      @ShelbyFlyer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hell YES Jeff! Your car weighs less and has more torque. The ability of the 20 to crack-off shifts while staying in boost is a serious advantage. All-in-all it was a frigg’n amazing day! I had a blast brotha! Thanks for playing. 🤟

That 2013 has great tourqe though and Ford rubbed its 662HP and 630 torque numbers in Chevy's face right as they were intruding the Camaro's numbers of 580HP and 556 torque at that time. A great video of two of my favorite Mustangs. Its crazy to see how much 7 years of technology makes in automotive advancement. As a die-hard manual guy of 20+ years (and now owning an A10 Mustang GT) you can see the shortcomings of a manual transmission over a newer automatic/DCT. the 2020 lurches ahead everytime the 2013 shifts. Both cars are wonderful in their own way and i wouldn't hesitate to have either. But i see the 2013 as more of a straight-line only 'muscle' cars, while the gt500 is more track oriented and much more of a grand touring / sports car. But like I a stock 13 14 is 662hp and it didn't do bad.Now 662 vs 900 is a big difference. But like you said your transmission is so much faster.Honestly I thought you would have killed him.I think both of my super snake's stop incredibly fast but not as fast as your car.As for a road course you probably kill me.I have a friend that was a race car driver at almost the pro level and went for a ride in my coupe super snake and he said a everyday driver will not come close to testing the overall limit of the car vs him driving vs me.My 08 actually has more money and mods into it than my super snake.When Tasca owned it he had his guys put every Ford racing mod on the car possible. I don't know why but he even had the T 56 tranny changed. The transmission alone was 16 grand.It is capable of holding well over 15hundred hp.Nuts.Either way I love my car's and I love yours.

      @@ShelbyFlyer One thing of friendly advice I will give you start your car's more often turn everything on heat ac everything. Also for your car's that aren't on a lift stored when you start them move a couple ft.Last summer I took my SS to a car show and on the way there the car seemed like it was shaking. The tires were flat spotted but as I drove it on the way home it went away. For my super snake's. Shelby American put Perelli P zeros on the car's. Well I got a price quote 400bucks a tire.I bet your 2020 are even more than that.Just some friendly advice.

      @@ShelbyFlyer Have you been keeping track of our 93 cobras and how they just keep going up in value. I got so lucky buying mine back in 05 for only 17.500bucks with 19thousand miles. I think our Terminators are next to jump in value. I love your collection and definitely your garage. Awesome man.

    there’s your problem with that stupid automatic transmission. that car is driving you . the 2013 with the manual is the real shelby

      I was new to it and figuring it out. Once I got it down, it’s absolutely amazing! I have a garage full of manual Mustangs including a Whippled 2011 GT500. I’ll take the DCT equipped 2020+ any day… it frigg’n ROCKS!

    I've got a 2014 GT500 with mods. I'd be able to hang with the 2020s. Both of you guys have sweet snakes tho!

      Power mods would definitely make you hang with a 2020 in a straight line, once turning and braking is thrown into the mix, it would be a different story. The 2020s are ridiculous on a road course!

      Yah like I said I have 140 more horse in my 10 900hp super snake.Honestly for the 13 gt500 being completely stock it didn't do bad. I hate to say it the 13 with a few mods it probably win easy. But the 2020 with a few mods it be really fast also.

      If the cars both had the same power level, the 20 still destroys it. I have a video on my channel comparing my 750hp 2011 GT500 to my 760hp 2020 GT500... it wasn’t even close!

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ShelbyFlyer there has to be something wrong with that 11 or the driver is sub par. Put me in a 750 horse 11 I promise a stock 20 won't destroy it. The shifts are slightly quicker than a proper power shift but they're not THAT fast people highly exaggerate the shift speed difference because most people ain't ever seen a manual shifted properly. They can be shifted very very fast where it pretty much sounds like an auto hearing it from the outside you can barely tell the difference. If it don't sound like that you're not shifting fast enough.
