There are 4 Hills Have Eyes movies. Only one remake both sequels go in different directions. Hills haves eyes 2 felt like your typical 80's movie with the motocross racers. However when the remake was made, Wes Craven didn't wanna be on the set because he seriously wanted the director to do his own thing. Because he was so blown away by the remake , him and his son John Craven wrote the screenplay to The Hills Have Eyes 2. Completely reinventing their own franchise on their own terms. With that being said, check them out. I also wrote a short few page skit about Pluto being exclude from the group because at the time the movie was made, Pluto was no longer considered a planet. That guy at 3:07, was that really the weird guy who picked you two up? Or is that from something? Either way it's quite disturbing! Keep up the good work!
Wes Craven gave the remake of The Hills Have Eyes and The Last House on The Left his golden seal of approval and lastly he hated the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street
Really strange how both The Hills Have Eyes and Last House on the Left remakes we're good, but the Nightmare on Elm street remake was just straight up bad.
I always loved Doug's journey in this one. He started off soft. But the loss of his wife and his determination to save his daughter made him not just hardened, but he went to a very dark place to get her back.
One of the very best remakes that's easily better than the original. You care about the characters and the mutants are just damn brutal. One big hell ride.

No problem. To me the Doug vs Pluto entire fight is one of my favorite sequences in horror and even really high in movies period. The original is one of my dad's all time favorite horror films, this remake is very very similar to the original as far as remakes go along with its updated brutality, I feel Wes did an amazing job with what he had at the time, and for its time was shocking, but the remake kind of intensifies certain things that the original didn't. The Hills Have Eyes (2006) is one of a few Horror remakes that are absolutely fantastic and deserved one. Since it was 2006 and make-up effects improved since 1977 the mutants actually looked like actual mutants, whereas in 1977 they didn't much. Also, the cast was very likable, especially Aaron Stanford as Doug who makes one of the best transitions ever in cinema-going from a schmuck Cell phone salesman to a total badass who saves his brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and his daughter. Have tons of memories with this movie and have watched it several times.
Back to checking out some older reviews with a bit of free time. This is a great horror movie, not just a great remake. As intense and gut wrenching as most horror out there, to me. Doug's character arc is one of the best and most complete that I can remember. Plus, I mean, Beast is the MVP of the whole thing, hands down.

I loved this film! Especially when it includes the great Ted Levine from Monk! But I still think I prefer 2003's wrong turn which has basically the same premise. Hopefully you can review that one if you haven't already. Great review as always, Lee!!
The bit I most remember from this is when the big headed mutant in the wheelchair tells the guy looking for his baby daughter about how the people became mutants. "You set off your bombs and turned everything to ashes. You made us what we've become. Boom, boom boom."
Kinda funny, for awhile, TH-cam kept recommending to me Doctor Wolfula's review of Hill Have Eyes, the original. I know I watched it before, but haven't since he uploaded the video, until last night. When I finally got caught up on new videos on TH-cam, figured, could stay up for one more, what the heck. So, now, in less than 24 hours, saw reviews for both the original and remake, from two different reviewers. 😉
I saw that you subscribed. Now you can recommend one movie for me to review but it has to be on Netflix or free on VUDU. I'm also going to be doing a stream in about 20 to 30 minutes maybe.
Great review Lee! Definitely favor this remake over the original and I would have to agree on Top 5 Remake territory for sure. Love that you reviewed this one!
Lee, I COULD NOT HANDLE THIS MOVIE. After that HORRIFYING scene with the girl getting raped and--oh God, everything that happens, I left the room and went upstairs. I was visiting my brother and his girlfriend and they were all watching it with other family members of mine. I couldn't just turn it off or change the movie, you know? Man, it was bad. It messed me up, because it just kept getting worse! Anyhow, kudos to ANYONE that can watch this movie all the way through. I can't do it. The Green Inferno is suppose to be really horrible too. Well directed, but terrifying scenes. Anyhow, sorry for the long post, but this movie brought up some very uncomfortable emotions out of my experience of seeing a part of it for the first time. It is a great film and your review rocks 😝🤘🤘. But, I will not be watching this movie nor The Green Inferno---EVER, lol.
@@chaosiscoming9184 Good choices. Also I'd love a third film. Ever read The Hills Have Eyes: The Beginning? It's a prequel narrated by Papa Hades from the sequel. He's much more articulate and intelligent as opposed to just "You make me baby!" and "DIE!"
S K G I'm getting sick and tired of people always attacking me for this pic. I love his Joker, (not my best) but I will NOT change it cos people want me to
Massive fan of High Tension!! (It's called Switchblade Romance here in the UK by the way). You should absolutely review it and encourage others who avoid foreign movies to watch it!! Keep up the good work!!
Question: This movie along with The Last House on the Left, The Texas Chainsaw Massaxcre, both originals and remake, and similar in tone, something like I spit on your grave, have scenes that to me bring a knee reaction of angry emotion response to some scenes. The question is: Do you get these feelings? And if so how do you feel about movies that have these scenes or seek these responses, or how does it effect your review? And finally, how do you hold in those emotions? 😂
I actually like "hard" films that push the limits if they're handled carefully. I think all of these properties actually do a great job at that. Very well directed and they put the viewer in the situation nicely.
Glad you liked the movie upon second viewing Mr. Lee! Id suggest skipping part 2 for both the original and remake, though the remake isn't awful, it's far from this movie and seems a little cheap in quality really. On the topic of this movie though, its one of the few films i went multiple times to the theater to watch and actually I took my wife on one our first dates to it when we first met. Classy guy I am lmao Great review sir!

It's about goddam time! Maybe you can fit those other 2 movies you've been meaning to watch in your schedule!
I'll see what I can do! :p
The bit I most remember from this is when the big headed mutant in the wheelchair tells the guy looking for his baby daughter about how the people became mutants. "You set off your bombs and turned everything to ashes. You made us what we've become. Boom, boom boom."
That dude was creepy as fuck!
The scene where Doug manages to kill Pluto the Jason looking mutant is badass.
Nice Jen!
Great review brother! Love this film! It's my favorite remake ever!
I saw that you subscribed. Now you can recommend one movie for me to review but it has to be on Netflix or free on VUDU. I'm also going to be doing a stream in about 20 to 30 minutes maybe.
It's amazing!
Awesome Review Man!
Thank you!
@@DrumdumsOfficial You're Welcome
never seen this but i will have to go and check it out good job on the video man keep up it up
Definitely watch this!
Definitely one of the best remakes and great review Lee!
Indeed and thank you!
Great review Lee! Definitely favor this remake over the original and I would have to agree on Top 5 Remake territory for sure. Love that you reviewed this one!
Looking forward to reviewing the 2nd soon!
This was the first rated R movie that i saw in theatres, and I thought it was incredible haha! Super scary then and now
Easily one of the best remakes ever.
@@DrumdumsOfficial yes agreed!! Next to John carpenter's The Thing of course 🎃😂😻
My favorite horror film. I still wonder whatever happened to big mama since doug, bobby, and brenda didn't kill her ? I want a hills have eyes 3.
Wait for part 3
I remember seeing this flick on HBO in like 2007 or so. It's one of those scarily effective daylight horror movies. I liked it. =)
Yeah this is a great remake, I remember really liking the score to this movie
The score is a real standout in this one.
Another awesome review 🙂
Thank you!
@@DrumdumsOfficial You are welcome
Fuck yeah!!!! I am so pumped & I KNEW you'd love it. I knew it! ✊👏👌
Dont ever usually comment on channel's but definitely deserves this one......... top notch reviews subscribe button hit
Thank you so much Dominic!!
I prefer the first over second, but still wouldn't mind a third one
Who are your favorite mutants?
I do love X-Men, but haven't really got any favourite mutants.. maybe just Wolverine and Azazel from First class :S
I love his Joker, (not my best) but I will NOT change it cos people want me to
First experience with The hills have eyes genre, love it
AudeProbxtz I’ve always been a casual fan, but this tops the original.
Massive fan of High Tension!! (It's called Switchblade Romance here in the UK by the way). You should absolutely review it and encourage others who avoid foreign movies to watch it!! Keep up the good work!!
The UK title is sooo damn dumb.
I've only seen bits of the original. So, you aren't alone, Lee.
Oh good Casi. We're in this together!
This film disturbed me so much, I LOVED IT!
Yes. Delightfully disturbing.
Loved this remake!
Me too!
I'm actually inspired to seek out the original 1977 film. Love to hear yours & Cody's thoughts on Eaten Alive(1976).
This film is so underrated...Gotta be in my top five remakes. That story about the couple helping you was creepy af too.
HIGHLY underrated.
Drumdums love the channel, man. Literally you and Cody are the only things I watch regularly anymore.
Neil Andrew Hudson Thank you so much Neil!!🙏
Can you do a rating of the saw fertilizes thanks drum drums
Yes I just need to review them first. Thanks!
Classy guy I am lmao
Great review sir!
I actually saw the 1986 part 2 at a drive in movie theater back then. Part of a double feature with Psycho III haha. Remember not liking it at all.
@@DrumdumsOfficial god i miss those old Drive In Double Features. There is a drive in about 40miles from here that shows new double features in HD but I miss the grit of the old days lol
One of the best remakes ever! WAY better than the original I thought.
Hills have eyes 2 is a must watch, really think you will like it.
One of my favorites.
Part 2 is good, starts off with a bit of cheesy dialogue but kicks in with the brutality and almost matches this one.
I'm very curious about the 2nd one.
After growing up with the original 2 I was expecting to hate the remakes. It was really good. I still love the original more as its really gritty and grimy and was just freaky when it came out. Great vid as always mate.
I have never seen the original either, and I absolutely love the remake.
I thought the second one was okay, I watched it out of curiosity, I think it is also based off of an older version.
I have never seen the original either but LOVE the remake!!! The sequel was really good as well. I totally forgot Claire from Lost is in this!!!! Love her lol
The remake is so good that I don't really feel the need to check out the original.
@@DrumdumsOfficial I feel the same way about maniac remake being so good! Texas chainsaw massacre remake along with this is high on best remakes list
This is one of my favorites
This movie is a great movie love it
Hell yeah!
I saw this in the cinema when it came out...blew me away then, still love it to this day!! Hadn't seen the original when I saw this, but have seen it since...can easily say the remake is far superior and still holds up today!! Didn't care much for the sequel. I really like 'Mirrors' by Alexandre Aja. Nice review man 😁👍
One of the best horror remakes without a doubt
Alexandre Aja is an awesome director. Can't wait for his new movie this summer called Crawl.
Me too. That one looks great. And Kaya!
@@DrumdumsOfficial I would absolutely love to see Alexandre Aja do a Halloween movie. It would be absolutely amazing. Hell maybe he could do the sequel to Halloween 2018.
It's like a carbon copy of the original but it kicked ass
The gas-station attendant is the grandfather of the family. Papa Jupiter is the son that killed his baby girl and then run off. That’s why he killed himself, because it was his fault.
Science: Gamma and X-ray mutation causes birth defects that affect the child's morphology and abilities in a way that they lose limbs from birth and are generally weaker than the average human.
Hill People: *Haha Super Strength go brrrrrrrrrrrrr*
Hey Lee for another top 10 can you do a top 10 horror movie icons
I've been getting a lot of requests to do that one...so might give it a go!
