Great Video again! I love to play around with my GTX 50 and the GTX 7. Especially i fell in Love with the Looper!👍😁 You explain this so well, thank you for that.🙏
Thanks! Really appreciate your nice words. I hadn’t seen another video out there that experimented with every possible looper combination, just to see what would happen. 👍🎸
I actually just bought the 50 watt version and purchased the gtx 7 and I got the amp but have to wait a few more days for the pedal and I can't wait. I love looping and practicing lead. I'm excited to say the least lol
I've had my gtx50 for nearly 4 years now, and I just placed the order for my gtx7 last week. Im watching this to hopefully prepare me for when it gets here in a few days and also because im experiencing it vicariously through you to contain my excitement.
Love my GTX. I have spent thousands on awesome and rare pedals over the years, and they are great, but if I’m honest, the Mustang GTX sounds almost as good for a fraction of the price, and has far more effects than my board ever will.
I just got mine last week and I have to agree with you. I have spent $2000 on a single Marshall amp with one sound pretty much. I was never a fan of fender amps until this series came out.😊
It's almost midnight, and I'm watching this to see how I can use this to enhance the only song I know on guitar: Mary had a little lamb😂😂😂😂😂😂. I should probably be practicing some shit first. But seriously, this guy is just great. He put in all the work and preparation ahead of time to get this video. Really Fender should reward people like him with something. I'm going to buy this thing.
Great my friend got my Foot switch today Tried to figure out things . Was able to record and dub but couldn't erase if I made a mistake. So I searched in here and found your instructions which uncovered everything. Now I know all the functions thanks to you. You did a great job couldn't have been done better.... Thanks again ....
Awesome Video, and loop. I'm a drummer but got this for my son with the GTX100 as his first larger amp a few years ago and never figured out its capabilities. Glad I watched, and kept my attention all the way through, that's tough lol!
Great Video, after weeks between Boss and Fender. I got the GTX 100, and I have the Hotone Ampero II. The the Mustang Footswitch and effects is so good that I don’t need to use the Ampero...
What if I’m performing live… and I love (for example) 01 for a [clean] verse, and patch 42 is a distorted tone that’s perfect for the Chorus. I don’t have the time in a split second to bank up. Are there any ways to make this situation work? Can you reorder the patches? It would be cool to know this amp/pedal could be geared towards specific songs/ performances before ordering it all ! Great informative video here
Hey! I don’t remember where it is in the video but you can do that using “setlists” … where you make a group of any 5 presets. You can pick a set list, and then you’re one click away from going from tone 5 to 42 or 1 to 83. Search TH-cam for more vids on it … thanks!
Thank you so much for your time on compiling this, i got mine just yesterday and did not have the first clue where to start on pedal, this has taught me so much, and your explanations and presentation delivery was perfect, you sir have my huge appreciation, with warm regards from Wales UK👌👏🎸
Well done. Just got the gtx100 and have been playing on effect 6 with tremolo, delay and compressor with flange. Learning how to use the looper I’ve been having questions and you answered them all!😊
Hi, Thanks for your demos, really helpful. I would like to see how the pedal handles Setlists. If you can do a demo of that function that would be great. Thank you, Bob.
18:00 That's interesting how if you hit the record again it seems to do nothing. Just keeps recording. I doubt if it works this way, but would be cool if you could record something like a 1-bar percussive pattern, then hit record again and record a 4-bar chord pattern, for example, and have it stretch the time of the total loop to 4 bars with the 1 bar percussion repeating for each of the 4 bars.
In the effects part I didn't understand how to create a different effect in that button, how did you do that? Put a distortion effect on 1, a wah on 2 and so on, five different effects, how do I do that? Do you have a video about that?
I have the Katana MKII 50. I’ve watched countless vids with the comparison of the two. I’m still really fighting off the urge to spend the money with that rent to own. It’s the looper and foot switch that really has my attention to but it within the week! Great vid and walk through!
Been wondering if I should use my GTX50 for my acoustic rather than the Fishman Loudbox. Thanks for the advice in your other video. I have really been ambivalent about my GTX50 and have thought about trading it for a tube amp, but your info really helps me see the possibilities of the amp.
Excellent video Steve...Today I ordered my GTX 100 and your videos have been excellent and much appreciated. Enjoying your talent and have subscribed to your channel. Thanks so much.
Thorough and detailed, thanks much. I own a GTX50, but I still really wish it had a second bank down button instead of having to hold the bank up button to scroll through banks. I've overshot my destination patches a few times, and it takes too long, especially in a live situation. Or better yet, a midi in control would be nice.
Great video. I was shopping for another pedal for my GT100. I also have a Mustang IIIv2 and I've been sharing the pedal between the two amps, but now I've been leaving the III at the band rehearsal space and I'm about to start using the GT100 with another band. So I have to get it its own pedal. I didn't even know this existed, but I have to have it now.
These presets I assume are Fenders in order? Is there any way to get the first 10 presets on ones I use all the time? Example: I use #5 and #158 in the same song and then a 3rd to a Lead solo.... I need to set these in the first 3 spots
Is there any way to change amps within a single patch? I play a few songs where I need to go from acoustic guitar simulation to heavy distortion electric and there is a slight delay switching from patch to patch vs. turning effects on/off in single patch. Would love the option to get both sounds in 1 patch.
Just ordered the GTX-50 and GTX-7 and am waiting for them. Thanks so much for this video, saved me hours of figuring this all out! Fender should hire you to teach!
Hey Steve, really like your videos. Question: If I want to switch between sound 43 and sound 2, is there a quick way to do this? IE Pressing one button instead of holding down the bank button. Thx. Russ

How does it connect to the amp? Is there a way to use a wired connection to avoid interference? I heard it connects with bluetooth which isn't the best to avoid interference.
Awesome! And no, unfortunately, one limitation is that you can’t store or save loops. Once you turn the amp off, it’s gone forever. But I actually like that, because it just keeps things simple. I have a separate looper for storing full song creations when I want to
@@SteveGuitar i have the boss rc30 loop pedal, can i use this with the gtx100 in conjunction with the pedal that comes with the amp? Hi Steve, love your work. I have a question if you can help me out plz. How are patches balanced in gtx100. Is there a massive volume diffrance between patches for eg, if you go to 6 clean patch to 7 overdriven and then 8 atmoshpheric... is there a massive volume diffrance. Or they sit at same volume. I understand some patch might be bit louder due to overdriven etc. but how dose switching patches goes as far as the loudness and tone is concerned. I own a katana 100mk2 with a footswitch but i have a problem with jt hence thinking of changing to gtx. Any thoughts...❤
I only own a small Blackstar 10 watt amp that I rarely use, I don’t own anything Fender, and yet I am still here watching a video on a Fender foot switch. Maybe I need help.
For me the GTX-7 is "close but no cigar". Fender cheaped out by not putting a dedicated Bank Down button. As some have pointed out elsewhere having to hold the bank button down makes it impractical for quick changes. You can daisy chain the EXP-1 like on other foot-switches - which is nice - but there is no capacity to add a single up/down foot-switch. With the original Mustang series you could have 3 pedals attached all at once: the up/down (MS2), the 4 button controller (MS4), and the expression pedal (EXP-1). That gives much more overall control in live situations. I'd love to upgrade to one of the newer modelling amps but don't want to give up the ease of control that I have with the Mustang III V2.
I can’t get my GTX-7 Effects mode to work. Do I need to program each preset with a specific effect then allow the footswitch to let me turn them on and off? I though the whole idea of the effects is that you can go to a given preset, click down to the Effects and add gain, reverb, delay, etc…as you want. So frustrating.
Hey Steve I order a gtx 4 button foot switch for my fender mustang iii. My amp Version is 2.2. When I connect it to my amp only 2 stay lite up when I press any of the others buttons it has no effect. Do you have setup the 4 button foot switch???????
Really enjoying your videos Steve. I see you don't have the Fender EXP-1 pedal. I would love you to get one, do some research and practice and then put up a video like this one but about that pedal.
Hi Steve, thank you so much, you videos have been very helpful over the last 2 weeks as I just got the GTX 100! I am having a terrible time finding information on how to daisy chain my GTX-7 with the EXP-1 to the GTX 100. I did this simply with the dual jacks on my footswitch that came with my old GT 100 - Do you have any advice? TYIA!
Hey, thanks for the nice words! Really appreciate that, and sorry, but the one thing that I have never done is use the expression pedal. Wish I had a video on that! Maybe someday?😎
Great video. Love the way you explain everything so clearly, Had my GTX100 for about a month now and really lovin it.. I do find by using my iPad/iPhone or PC i can visually see what is happening with each of the presets and the effects as i turn them on and off like you show in the video. the only thing that confuses me is when I save into setlists or favorites I cant understand why they aren't in the order I selected. lets say 1 thru 5 should now be coordinated with 1-5 on footswitch.. In other words say I selected #27 and added it to #4 in my set list. It is not #4 at footswitch. I have to go up the banks till I get to multiple banks till I reach #27. Am I doing something wrong? I find easier to select the setlist from my iPad and then can visually see and select the favorite from there and now it is in my footswitch automatically.. much quicker. I would hate to do this when performing live to go thru all those banks especially when my 5th selection in setlist is #86. Hope someone can answer that for me.. I will be giving a call to Fender's support group.. Again, thanks so much for time and effort that you out into the videos. much appreciated..
Awesome, thanks so much for the kind words, and glad it was helpful. And setlists and how they interact with the foot switch are some of my weakest points. I can’t understand lots of the scenarios you pose. I’ll report back if I figure some out. Hopefully others will chime in. Appreciate it! 👍
Excuse my ignorance because I've never owned one of these and I don't play very much or very well, but this box is creating all of the effects we're hearing? In other words can I plug my guitar into this and this into ANY amp and get (in general)the same sounds? Of course i know all amps are different, but if i run any amp on a clean channel with this pedal, I'll get roughly the same sounds and effects......
Glad to hear it, William. Thanks! I’ve learned about some of these sort of hidden features over time, so it was good to put them all in one place in this video. Glad it helped!
Nice Steve. Is this the gtx 50 amp fender mustang your using ? Works with the looper it’s inbuilt in the amp ??? The wifi and Bluetooth amp version right ?? It will do the looper with the foot switch ??? Will it? Please do advise me. Thanks
Great job you have given us with this video. Many tricks that were necessary to know. I want to share with you that I have a Mustang GT200 and recently bought the GTX7 from him. Unfortunately the footswitch does not respond the same to me. I think it's because my amp isn't the GTX as is. Do you think I can do something about it to make it work for me as it is? I would greatly appreciate your help. All the best.
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it, and unfortunately, I don’t know if all of these features work the same way with the GT series. I suppose you could ask on one of the online forums or Facebook groups. Or just keep experimenting. Wish I could help!
@@SteveGuitar Hello. Yes, I think you are right. I'll start trying to make movements to see if the footswitch gives me any response. I thank you very much for taking the trouble to answer me. Thank you very much for your videos, they are very helpful. Greetings.
@@SteveGuitar I have a GT100 and was thinking of getting the GTX-7 for it since it says it's compatible. But it does say you have to update the firmware for it to work correctly. Are you on the latest version?
Is there a reason you have the delay after the reverb rather than the other way around? I always do it the other way around as it seems to have more definition in the delay to me that way. I guess because the reverb tail doesn’t get layered.
@@SteveGuitar the important thing is the question “Does it sound good to the person creating the music?” If it sounds good with reverb before distortion and delay before tremolo, then that is what you do. The creator should determine the sound.
@@SteveGuitar it is like art, the artist should be able to express themselves in any way they want. I remember when I was around 12 or 13 being reprimanded, by the teacher in art class, for daring to paint basic shapes and colors and then adding in detail in pencil on top. You would think I had committed a felony the way he acted. I have always, and always will rebel against being told how to do something, so I just kept doing it for the rest of the school year. lol
Can you make it so you can tap the Tempo for delays on the footswitch? Or can you only change the delay Tempo by Tapping the button on the Amp? (it would be useful to be able to adjust the tempo mid-song if others in the band are rushing/dragging)
@@SteveGuitar great! I'll re-watch - I knew I'd heard you could before I got my Amp, but couldn't find it anywhere else. It must have been in this video!
I have the GTX50 which is plenty loud for my use. I have seen opinions that the GTX100 has a significantly better speaker (in addition to twice the power). Just passing on someone's opinion. Of course the GTX100 cabinet is a little bigger so that would probably affect the tone somewhat.

Does anyone know if it is possible to connect this pedal into a different amp like a yamaha THR?
Hey Steve great video I’ll be sure to post a link to it from the site to
🙌
Great Info and presentation
They really should have installed a "bank down" button and made the screen larger to show the name of the patch.
Thank you! I got the GTX50 today and picked up the footswitch and this video helped me tremendously.
Have a sub!
Thanks
👍 Yes, I’ve got the GTX50. The 50 and 100 both have a looper inside that is controlled with the footswitch. And both have WiFi and Bluetooth.
Is there a way to reorganize the presets? To group them together?
In settings
@@Trolling4Jesus I've gone through the setting and can't seem to find how. Any help would be really appreciated
Does anyone know if this compatible with Yamaha Thr30ii?
Is there a reason you have the delay after the reverb rather than the other way around? I always do it the other way around as it seems to have more definition in the delay to me that way. I guess because the reverb tail doesn’t get layered.
Probably user error. Seriously. Looks like I have some tidying up to do
@@SteveGuitar the important thing is the question “Does it sound good to the person creating the music?” If it sounds good with reverb before distortion and delay before tremolo, then that is what you do. The creator should determine the sound.
@@ccjmusic totally agree. I’ve always felt that way too!
I have always, and always will rebel against being told how to do something, so I just kept doing it for the rest of the school year. lol
@@ccjmusic too funny, Interesting how memories like that stay with us. Very cool
Can you make it so you can tap the Tempo for delays on the footswitch? Or can you only change the delay Tempo by Tapping the button on the Amp?
(it would be useful to be able to adjust the tempo mid-song if others in the band are rushing/dragging)
Yes, you can. It’s one of the secret functions that I talk about somewhere in here
@@SteveGuitar great! I'll re-watch - I knew I'd heard you could before I got my Amp, but couldn't find it anywhere else. It must have been in this video!
Thank you so much!!!
is it a good loud amp for doing gigs?
I have the GTX50 which is plenty loud for my use. I have seen opinions that the GTX100 has a significantly better speaker (in addition to twice the power). Just passing on someone's opinion. Of course the GTX100 cabinet is a little bigger so that would probably affect the tone somewhat.
Great Stuff well done and detailed video 5 stars !
Awesome, thanks! Appreciate the kind words
