There is no one brand. Techs use whatever they like. Hazet and stahlwille (probably spelled wrong) are German toolmakers that mercedes special tools come from. So I willingly and rarely will get those brands. But other then that there is no secrets to our success 😊. Whatever tools you like.

You have a obvious transmission problem. You will need a good scanner to read the transmission control module for the code. You most likely have to have the dealer replace the control unit/conductor plate.
Łukasz Drobnik do not buy the diesel. Also do not buy 2006-2008 and you will be happy. These are great cars. Very few issues outside of water leaks to the interior.

What if anything should I be concerned about? The vehicle runs very well as far as I can tell, but I don't want any surprises. Any information would be appreciated! Thanks.
They are honestly solid cars. Great year to own. Biggest concerns are checking near the battery and rear trunk area for water stains. These cars were horrible with water entry. That Kiils the fun in owning these. Id recommend doing a pre purchase inspection at a Mercedes dealer and asking them to go through the car and make sure the battery area is clean and clear. The rest is easy maintenance. I loved these and sad to see them discontinued. Best of luck.
Hi, great vid, I loved it. Gives me motivation to give more care to my R500 5.5l. Any chance for inputs on how to conduct a maintenance on doors and especially roof top?
I need help! My dad has Mercedes R320i and when he presses gas sometimes car doesn't respond automaticlly.. I would like to hear you opinion on this. Thanks!
Hello, our cars have a lag in time between pressing the gas and when the cat actually responds. You would need a scanner to verify live data of the accelerator pedal. But anytime theres an accelerator pedal issue or inlet port issue there should be fault codes as well.
Checking the fluid is not an easy process if you do not have a scanner, trans filler or rack. Its a somewhat tedious process. There are ways to accomplish this but there is no dipstick. In short you need to overfill trans and then let it drip out to a very fine drip at a specific temperature based on your trans pan and options.
Hello and thanks for watching! Well you are at about the right mileage. it all depends on how the oil looks through the oil fill cap. if you see any signs of sludge then its for sure valve stem seals. if you do not then it can still be valve stem seals especially if you get a poof of smoke on startup when cold. also you might have some cylinder scoring.

There is no one brand. Techs use whatever they like. Hazet and stahlwille (probably spelled wrong) are German toolmakers that mercedes special tools come from. So I willingly and rarely will get those brands. But other then that there is no secrets to our success 😊.
Whatever tools you like.
I would love to bring my car to you...I have a 2010 R350, rear hatch issues, pinch protection issues?, rear SAM issues, and now cylinder 4, 5, 6 misfires...(just 2 days ago).
Did not want to take it to the dealer, took it to 3 indy's who could not diagnose (or did not take any time) for poop...I'm 5 hrs north of you though...
Oh man sorry to hear. Rear hatch issues are easy to diagnose and the misfires are most likely a bad cat clogging the exhaust.
Great job. Where are you located
Thank you, Central Illinois. I made a video on my experience. Thanks!

What a wonderful video! I have learned a lot from it. Could you do a video to replace the tailgate latch? Thanks!
My 2010 R350 tailgate will close but fail to lock close. One can hear the clicking sound of the tailgate tried to lock but failed. Is it the latch motor? Thanks again.
Thanks!
Yes its a latch that has failed In your car. Im sure there are plenty of videos showing how to replace the latch it really is a simple process. I don’t have the car in my possession or else I would my friend. Thanks!
@@MasterTechLou Thanks for your time to reply. Unfortunately, I cannot find any video on the latch replacement for Mercedes! A video will help many people in the same situation as mine. Thanks in advance.
I have a 2010 R350 that will not switch to 2nd gear. any suggestions? by the way enjoyed this video. learned a lot. thanks.
You have a obvious transmission problem. You will need a good scanner to read the transmission control module for the code. You most likely have to have the dealer replace the control unit/conductor plate.
Man I have been looking for this kind of help!

This is a great video you just same me an hour drive and a lot off money
Nice detailed video. I am considering buying R class, what can you say about its reliability
Łukasz Drobnik do not buy the diesel. Also do not buy 2006-2008 and you will be happy. These are great cars. Very few issues outside of water leaks to the interior.
@@MasterTechLou Thanks, great video. I have 2008 and have no problems. It is still running like new.BTW, I do all maintenance myself.
@@MasterTechLou Agree, I only replaced two NOX sensors in the last 7 years. This costed me 3K at the dealer. I won't buy the diesel if I knew. But this year I learned a lot myself and hope to deal with everything myself from now on. I just brought a iCarsoft MB v2.0 too.
@@MasterTechLou where do the water leaks come from
@@glendonhines9022 sunroof drains. Taillight seals, rear tailgate door tubing to the roof. Windshields. Loose evaporator drains. Those are the common places.
Hi Lou, I have a 2006 R500 that is flashing “Drive to workshop without changing gear”. It is in park and does not shift out of it. Using the iCarSoft CR Pro scanner, there are no current codes but the TCM has code 0513 in the historic state. What needs to be done to fix this? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
You either have a failed transmission control unit or ism.
@@MasterTechLou thank you for the reply. If I decide to replace the control unit, will any coding need to be done? Can the CR pro do it?
@@victorvaldez3802 only the dealer scanner can program the transmission control module. And very very few others so im told.
@@MasterTechLou sounds like this isn’t a DIY project.. I’ll have to drag it on a flatbed and get it to a repair shop. Thank you very much for the insight!
Just had the same issue with my r500, had to replace the ISM.
First let me say this video was very informative! I really appreciate your work! That being said...I am looking to purchase a 2011 R350 4matic with 80k miles.
That
Kiils the fun in owning these. Id recommend doing a pre purchase inspection at a Mercedes dealer and asking them to go through the car and make sure the battery area is clean and clear. The rest is easy maintenance. I loved these and sad to see them discontinued. Best of luck.
@@MasterTechLou...Thank you so much for your input. I have since purchased the vehicle and love it! This machine is amazing and solid! Thanks again!
Hi, great vid, I loved it. Gives me motivation to give more care to my R500 5.5l.
Any chance for inputs on how to conduct a maintenance on doors and especially roof top?
Yes certainly! I will do one soon thanks for the idea!

How we can check the fluid level on the transmission on r350
Checking the fluid is not an easy process if you do not have a scanner, trans filler or rack. Its a somewhat tedious process. There are ways to accomplish this but there is no dipstick. In short you need to overfill trans and then let it drip out to a very fine drip at a specific temperature based on your trans pan and options.
Nice video, which spark plugs do you recommend to MBr350 thanks 🙏🏼
Double platinum or iridium tipped bosch from the dealer but the parts store ones will work the same. I just prefer dealer plugs :)
@@MasterTechLou thanks
awesome! love your ideology
Where are you located ?

It was wet in the back on the floor where the battery and fuses are now I can't get my car started
So sorry to hear. That is common in these cars unfortunately. Best to have a dealer diagnose the issue from here or a Mercedes Benz specialized shop.

I have R 350 CDI, it's an amazing car
How many miles should valve seals last on the 2007 R500 5.0l V8? Mine is burning oil.. 153k...
The engine is so small compares to mine. So much space to work with, envy.
I received my 2006 R350 from Japan on 31st Dec 2020. I had to jumpstart it in order to drive it home. The following day I checked main battery voltage which recorded 3.25 volts. I replaced the main battery, and the car started well (no more jumpstarting).
However, the dashboard now gives white battery display. Could this be an Auxiliary Battery problem? How do I fix it? Please help.
Yes sir, always replace the small aux battery when you replaced the main one. The small one always dies once the main one dies. Hope this helps!
Lou
Thanks my friend
Bro!! I bought my R350 new in 2010.. and been checking for videos for years! Hardly anything out there. I want to do more maintenance.. what do you recommend that I can purchase. A book with pictures or a CD.. help me out. The damn dealership doesn’t help for shit! They take my money and that’s it! Thanks for the video!
Ebay, buy a set of WIS discs or a download (I prefer discs). Its the workshop information we use in the dealer and it also comes with epc which is our parts catalog. That will help with working on these. Appreciate you reaching out!
@@MasterTechLou Roger that! thank you brother. I appreciate the feedback. I know you’re busy.. so it means a lot for you to take two minutes of your time! Thanks again!

Listen friend, I got friends of mines that shaved their heads to have the bald look, but is not for everyone. You nailed friend.
The car situation is difficult. My sister owns a mb r350 4matic 2011,in a strike of brightness she placed a 5 gallons of paint in the back of the vehicle. Needles to say it spilled and she went to the car wash and hose it off.
The SMS is in the back and so is the fuse box.
We purchased the parts but our Mechanic is unable to flash it.
Everything works with the exception of the fuel gauge.
I'm just wondering why everything is working if he never flashed?
To top it,she already paid 500.00 to the guy.
Same guy I took my c230 kompressor because a braking problem and never was fixed.
I don't know what to think.
