I received pilot information that this plane could fly at 120,000 feet reaching speeds in excess of mock 6. Did a run from New York to London in under an hour. It was also reputed that maximum thrust with afterburners would rip the engines off the body of the plane.

I had family living at Marham RAF base a few years back. The windows in the living quarters were quadruple glazed and roof tiles were replaced every few years. The highlight of our visits to see them was watching the F35s take off and manoeuvre. I could have watched it all day! I live near (previously called) the HMS Daedalus airport. During good weather I get to watch Spitfires flying. I’ve lived here for 7 years and I never get tired of it. The sound and smell of them are magical. 😊
