I own the Retroshooter Red & Blue bundle, and it was worth every penny! Although i'm sorry to say, i use the RS Pandora Box to play Classic Arcades a lot more than playing the lightgun shooters. It's the Best Pandora Box to date.
I haven't pulled the trigger (no pun intended) on any modern solution for light gun games. My Wiimotes work really good for all the games on the Wii and on PC. The polling rate is super fast as well.
I have the Wiimotes as well in a black glock for me and pink glock for my wife. They are surprising very good. but I would like to upgrade to something better but I have so many arcades near me that I prefer to play light gun games there instead of at home on Batocera. But if I had a better gun perhaps i would play more? i doubt it though. How often do you play light gun games?
@@retroman-- I play them pretty often. I honestly like the relaxed nature of playing light gun games at home with a cross hair because constantly having both my arms up to aim down sights gets tiring really quickly though I do have a dedicated CRT for 5th generation consoles and down so I can play games like Virtual Cop on my Saturn and Time Crisis on both the PS1 and PS2. I was one of the first if not the first to publish a video showing a Wiimote being used in MAME and how to setup a Wiimote to be able to work as a light gun in MAME. That being said I have had the money to get any of these modern solutions for light gun games, but I just love the versatility of the Wiimote by being able to map all of its buttons and motion controls to any game. Blue Estate on PC is one heck of a modern light gun shooter that works very well with the Wiimote with the extra controls the game uses. I wish that the Touchmote software that I use had away of compensating for the sensor bar being at the top or bottom of the screen like the Wii does so I could calibrate the aim to not need a crosshair for aiming. However the Touchmote software was not made for playing light gun games, but more for being an air mouse or an alternative game controller. Still, for what it is, it's still quite incredible and highly reliable.
I wanted some light guns for the longest time. We have a small arcade next to our local cinema that has some multiplayer cabs so I was keeping myself happy with them. Then I got a VR headset and man, I can't tell you how much time I've played in light gun like games, rather shooters on rails. From haunted houses with light guns, to time crisis like games. Both being actually in the game, and standing in front of virtual cabinets. It's fixed my itch for sure, and honestly even with the default controllers because you only see in VR a gun controller anyway it's not a huge deal and feels like trigger anyway... but that solenoid recoil, I would love that in VR. Really the only thing that's missing.... but this is the kicker for me, they're the same price as a VR headset and that's a hard pill to swallow.
@@josemadrazo3131 Sure, here are a few. Crisis VRigade and Crisis Brigade 2. These are basically time Crisis games and play the very much the same in a VR setting. Looks pretty good. I hope you will do a follow up with the final version if you do end up buying them. Would be nice if the IR sensors were black to blend in with the TV more though...
If I didn't already have the Sinden I'd be all over these, I've already done the setup work for that and it's nice to not have to use IR sensors. That said if you are looking for a lightgun solution then these are looking like the best new solution.
This looks great, I was thinking a lot about the Sinden, but this looks very tempting. Although I still have a few questions: (sorry if there is a double post of these questions, I think there is an issue with my comments on TH-cam with another account) 1) Will there be other colours available in the future? Black is okay, but I would really like a classic retro electric blue one instead. 2) The purchase options on the website seem very limited. Will there (for example) be an option to simply buy a full single user setup that comes with everything to get going for 1 user on a PC? (Ix handgun, 1xpedal, plus the sensors and power pack/hub). Because some folks don't have other people to play with and a second gun is simply a waste. Plus a single user pack could also save them quite a bit of money too? 3) What are the features of the sub machine gun? It looks really cool but does it also have recoil ? And what about reload buttons and navigation buttons etc? 4) It would be really nice if the sensors were not grey/white, because currently they totally stick out like a saw thumb on a black TV! I really think If they were black instead, it would be a lot less visually intrusive on most TV's. Then I think I could leave them on my lounge room TV permanently (and tuck all the cables away neatly) so that they are always ready to go without needing to setup again,. Because otherwise it would just mean it hardly gets used (like my racing wheel!), if I gotta go through all the cabling every time. Just thinking about real world practicality here.
Great video! If you want to get rid of the Sinden gun I be more than glad to have them as I make arcade gaming content for my channel and need a light gun.
Would've liked to know how the setup process is as that's why I never used my Sinden and ended up selling it. From what I've seen of these modern light guns, they sweep how much of a pain they are to set up correctly under the rug. The hardware can be the best out there but if I can't get it to work it doesn't matter.
Agreed, that's also why I never used my Sinden and had these developed instead. They work like a mouse and keyboard. So, put the sensors up, plug it in, set your buttons and start shooting. So, does the emulation console box have real games (classic arcade games like time crisis and house of the dead) on it or not? The website description sounds like they supposedly created their own original games.
The site mentioned that the new console has newly made games, but nothing retro (this is because the original Retro Shooter multi game consoles led to trouble with SNK over the use of some of their games)
Nah. Having to see a crosshair on screen like that would ruin the immersion for me. Maybe I'd accept it if it was absurdly cheap. Like 10 USD each on amazon. But even at that price I'd still rather look for a CRT monitor instead. Or the sinden.

@@ItsTheRealMrMaD also, with the diamond shape they use, you can lose tracking when aiming at the sides of the screen, if you point too far to one side you lose 3 LED reference points, with the two up two down, it's hard to lose more than two at a time. I really cant understand why these things are still Wired and also why the recoil has to be so damn clakity & loud.I know its nowhere close to as accurate but, i'm gonna stick with a Wii controller & USB Bar til they aren't.
Nice! Thanks.
Work with steamdeck?
yes
So, does the emulation console box have real games (classic arcade games like time crisis and house of the dead) on it or not? The website description sounds like they supposedly created their own original games.
The site mentioned that the new console has newly made games, but nothing retro (this is because the original Retro Shooter multi game consoles led to trouble with SNK over the use of some of their games)
Newly developed games. We will continue to make games for that console. You can use the lightguns on PCs as well.
How many games on the console it just says 20 new games
at the moment there are 20 mini-games. We will continue to develop more lightgun games for the console. We have a full-time dev team
Reminds me of the Arcade Guncon's 😅
Does this take real bullets? Dealbreaker right there if not.
Yes, but you have to load them up by mouth.
I wanted to order them but the shipping costs are really too high, too bad...70 bucks
are you over in Europe?
@@theretroshooterItaly
@@dkone78 yeah, the EU is not cheap.
Nah. Having to see a crosshair on screen like that would ruin the immersion for me. Maybe I'd accept it if it was absurdly cheap. Like 10 USD each on amazon. But even at that price I'd still rather look for a CRT monitor instead. Or the sinden.
Who said anything about needing a crosshair with this light gun? Did you just assume that because you saw footage with the crosshair enabled?
@sirnovice9085 Yes. Didn't you?
@@ChrisKadaver many of these guys show the crosshair so you can see how fast the gun moves but you don't need a crosshair, you can disable it. Except for games like T2 Arcade, the crosshair is built into the game.
@@theretroshooter Ah okey. Cool!
Maybe it's worth mentioning in the video because I just assumed it wasn't better than a wii controller in that regard. 😅
@@sirnovice9085of course you need crosshairs, it uses IR. IR is not pixel accurate.
Why is shipping $65?
Would be cool if there was a setting to hide the cross hair 🍻
there is, you can hide it on most games, it's not related to the lightguns.
@ oh cool, thanks! 🍻
What makes you think this is 3D printed? Totally looks injection molded. What might be 3D printed is some parts like the triggers, buttons etc. but the shell I would say is not.
8:10 the hell is that input lag?
Seems like it?
What games on steam can you use this with
Too Expensive .
👍🏾
This seems like a Gun4IR clone
no, we don't clone gun4ir, we make better tech. We make our own molds and software.
@ well that’s def good to hear, cos I already have a Gun4IR..as well as a couple Sinden light guns..so it’ll be nice to try this one out also.
How exactly is the cursor configured? I never heard of mamehooker..does that mean it only works with mame stuff?
Or can I use it on say, the house of the dead remake for PC..or the redream emulator, etc
@ also, I do like that you guys put the IR LED’s on the corners of the television instead of in the middle..
..might seem like an insignificant thing at first..but with the Gun4IR IR LED’s on my personal specific setup..the bottom row is in the damn way of my Analogue NT’s everdrive cartridge
...and I always have to either take the cartridge out of the machine to affix the LED, or take it off if I wanna keep the everdrive in the system 🤦♂️
Even if it was it would be $300 for 2 vs $500 for 1 gun4IR. And faster response.
@@ItsTheRealMrMaD also, with the diamond shape they use, you can lose tracking when aiming at the sides of the screen, if you point too far to one side you lose 3 LED reference points, with the two up two down, it's hard to lose more than two at a time. And with the lightgun seeing two, it's still very accurate.
Just take it apart and add another button and cross wire it, very simple
Meh, IR guns require crosshairs. Not the same, sinden is more authentic
what no they don't lol
They don't require crosshairs. They detect the IR leds near the outside of the screen, and the Sinden detects the white border on the screen itself.
@ it will be like a Wii remote. Turn the crosshair of and it will work, but your aim will be off
@@Nemesis2K Wrong. You chose to post that without finding out if it's true. This doesn't use a wii-style IR led bar, you have leds just outside the corners of the screen. What is the imortant difference between that and a white border on the screen, tracking wise? None. People who have used this thing say the tracking is excellent, none of them say "Gee, I'm glad I've got this crosshair on so that I can see where my shots are going to go".
@@davidste60 sinden uses a camera that can see the screen.
Too expensive that sucks
Compared to Gun4IR it's a bargain.
Compared to what, half the price of Gun4IR with a better response time
BEWARE 60 DOLLARS FOR SHIPPING! RIP OFF!!!
we ship express post.
@@theretroshooter I DO NOT WANT EXPRESS! Please give me a cheaper shipping and I'll buy otherwise you guys are going to loose a sale here and lots of other people. It's just nuts to charge 60 bucks for shipping
@@carlosprieto1242 we can't ship with the postal service right now. They won't accept them from Asia, they don't ship gun shaped items. We are looking for US based warehouses so stay tuned but nothing set right now and it would not be available until after xmas.
Also, the box and guns are large, it's not a tiny box.
@@theretroshooter Sounds good. Again I want to buy them and you got my order as soon as you have reasonable shipping. Please hit me up and the very next second you got a sale
@@carlosprieto1242 Thank you, where are you located?
Gun4ir still the best
Why?
Ya, but it's 500 bucks for one gun
@@RetroRockGamer Make your own.
According to Retro Ralph's tests, this gun actually tracks FASTER than Gun4IR.
@@damn5987 customization, price and compatibility
$200 bucks. Dang no thanks
It's main competitor is $500 per gun and has a slower response time. This is $300 for 2 guns + extras. It could be $0 and people like you would complain it didn't come with free shipping
That's sick the autofire mechanical recoil thing. If this works on Linux, I might have to pick one up.
yes, you can play on Batocera V39+
