It was the idea of their mentor and producer Uwe Nettelbeck to offer them to the record company Polydor as "the new Beatles" - just a pure and clever hype which brought them a record contract with 750.000 Deutschmarks advanced money, a house in Wümme with a complete expensive recording studio with their own recording engineer and a year or more in which they could do and try everything they wanted! Dreamlike conditions for a new band which was just formed then!
I listened to this when I was 15 and it changed my musical direction for the rest of my life. Faust 4 is still my favourite though this is envelope pushing stuff!!
Faust IV is a bit assessible for minimalist krautrock listeners, but their debut album... ME IS A MEADOW MEAL AND THE GUESS I GET IT AND THE GAME I GET IT
I prefer Faust IV overall tbh, think it's a better album. This song has always seemed pretty cool to me though. It has its moments but as a whole IV is their best. I'm also a much bigger fan of Neu! so that might also be part of why although I do enjoy Faust verymuch on occasion still.
Faust IV is a far far better album overall,so is "So Far". This one still does have some great cuts off it though regardless. Overall I think my favorite Krautrock Bands are probably Kraan,CAN,Amon Düül ii,Neu!,DOM,Sand,Hölderlin,Brösselmaschine,Witthüser and Westrup, and probably Gunther Shickbert but they do have their moments.
I can't imagine how someone is stupid enough to be incapable of noticing the raw creativity and authenticity found in Faust to the point of accusing them of theft and plagiarizing.
Faust was hyped up as Germany's answer to the Beatles. But unless they referred to that experimental sound collage "Revolution 9", I'm not sure how they made a comparison.
Is this where Pink Floyd get their idea for song Money ? Anyway glad to find this . It was not easy for people from Faust to fight mentality of Zara Leander.
Mol poc coneguts...., jo a aquells anys vaig tenir la sort de comprar un disc per curiositat, i encara els recordo.... Neu !!! era un dels altres que viag trovar !!!!

Perfect example of an experimental track that is not excessive.
Yeah one day this album will just 'click' for me and i'll fall in love with it
Dat guitar part at 3:21. Blows me away everytime
Strangely enough, this severely affected my sense of smell.
Pre-covid COVID?
There's always a wonderful wooden reason to listen to this!
also, "Faust- The Faust Tapes" -(1973) wonderful stuff.
Instant fan, came here from can....next best thing, after joy division, of course !

One of the most influential records in music history....
There's a great band called The Boredoms.

L' attacco a 3.15 è fantastico
This song deserves love.
Really love it😍

ma è un poeta uno che cncepisce il testo di questa canzone. altro che terrorista. un santo!!
2:12 Ahí está lo trágico de esta existencia. Es indescriptible.

I first heard this disturbed riff over 30 years ago & it still makes me laugh, albeit in a queasy ,acid come-down sort of way....
