Death, Posessed, and other such bands had incorporated the harsher vocal approach. Bad Brains, Discharge, Hüsker-Dü, and many others had brought about the speed and the attitude. And then the right batch of youths bought all those records and put together their own brilliant bands.
The album was a demo, released only on cassette until Necrosis/Relapse picked it up. While amazing, this demo here was obviously recorded in a studio. The Horrified recording was done in a basement on an ancient 16-track reel machine. Scott and Matt were trying hard to keep the band alive but by 91 it was a losing proposition.
nothing else like that old school metal demo tape sound. fortunately repulsion didnt over produce their full length release either. not as raw as this but still really good

Great demo!! But in the early "90", s there were lots of great Death and Black Metal Demos out there Grind was still big but not to many true Grinds bands.

Horrified was a good album, but suffered from terrible production IMO.
the production is amazing, raw, heavy, gruesome, the instruments sound like they have been dipped in acid!
