She cleaned them in something she could safely bleach down afterwards. Where would you suggest she cleaned them? In the bathroom, where the sink will be ceramic or plastic (& liable to be damaged by heavy duty cleaning agents) or a bucket (which would have the same problem and nowhere near enough room)? That sink was stainless steel - designed to take heavy duty cleaning products without getting damaged.
I've worked with these dyes before and and have had bleeding issues before If it's wet/ damp or gets hot out but not done it on anything like these shoes . And I set with vinegar but maybe there is something else 🤔 that I needed to try or do idk?

you might think this is interesting, idk - the synthetic specific dyes can usually dye synthetic material in general- i’ve dyed buttons before, it’s pretty neat imo. but you have to be mindful of temperature and melting point etc etc
My favorite doll customizer - Dollightful - uses it to dye the doll itself for custom work! Doesn't always work well because of the different density of the bodies, but it gives her a good base if she's going dark.

As a person who is currently a cashier at Goodwill I will say that they are way overpriced on all of their used stuff and it is worth what they are asking and it’s a damn shame that they get everything for free and they price gouge the crap out of people who can’t afford new stuff that come looking for you stuff it’s absolutely disgusting and shameful

Have you never seen those American mom "week reset" videos where the "humble family" in the huge 2-3 story house with the huge kitchen island and huge diswasher... Clean the house and pour the pitch black water into the kitchen sink at the END of the cleaning routine because she started in the kitchen where they'd already cleaned the sink? Not so much paranoid, just extremely concerned.
These are worn to a level when I start considering when to donate or toss. Tread is gone in ball of the foot area. Slip hazard. Last time I hurt myself slipping it was in a pair of too-worn crocs.
