An absolute AC/DC classic, but for bagpipes!
Gordon Duncan is the idol of many pipers and maybe like me, you heard his version before AC/DC's.

I remember hearing Gordon playing this at the Piping Centre in Glasgow years ago and asked him what on earth it was "d'ye ken ACDC?" was the answer. I was very honoured to play guitar on the track when he recorded it.
I wish I had a fraction of the discipline you people have!!!
Great lesson....even if I'll never be a piper!!

Thanks very much Tony! Love hearing these wee stories about Gordon. I was taught by his older brother, Ian, at high school for 6 years. I was absolutely obsessed with his albums (still am!) and tuned my electric chanter to his pipes to play along with him and of course yourself on the Thunderstruck album! Hope you’re keeping well during these crazy times!

Interesting technique on using an e gracenote in your C doublings. What's awesome fun is that all of this is only part A and B... Still a LOT to go, but learning just this part will undoubtedly take a bit of work! The very next line absolutely kills my pinkie finger muscles...

Yh it’s more of a shake without the strike than a D doubling on C! Haha what I’ve played on this video is Thunderstruck, anything after this section is Gordon Duncan’s “Angus Thing” which kicks off with the mad bottom hand work. I’ll maybe get round to filming that slow too as there’s not too much going on really.. 👌 Thanks for watching!

@@KyleHowie Cool deal. I feel that my piping has reached a level where I'm ready to start adding the more "non-traditional" note selections beyond C and F Naturals, such as flatted notes with half-fingerings that are so similar to tin whistle. I saw your other video on that as well, and I'm glad you're putting this stuff out there. Keep up the good work!

Quick note- it’s totally up to you for how you want to embellish this tune, or any other mad folky type tunes for that matter. 👍

Hi, Kyle; you say that most PCs tune to A=446 in the video, but mine tunes to A=466. Did you misspeak, or do I have an oddball PC? Again it would be awesome if you could do a tutorial on the next few parts of the tune. I suspect most of us pipers would like to learn the Gordon Duncan arrangement, as written in his tunes book II. Thank you...

Hi Martin, I wish I could but it would more than likely get me into trouble with copyright etc.. I believe the music is in Gordon Duncan's Book 2! www.greentrax.com/music/product/gordon-duncans-tunes-book-2
