2.4.22. Good morning PPuggy. 'Tis a cold frosty spring morning here whilst over there is sweltering heat. Hope this Omnicron totally subsides as desperately wish to visit beautiful Singapore again. The government must seriously take heed about preserving the traditional authentic hawker culture. Perhaps have college cooking courses to maintain the traditional foods so it won't die out. PLUS give incentives for families to continue the tradition, much cheaper rents to these hawkers, financial help in situations of total shutdowns eg pandemic or family bereavement of the main cooks. Many thanks again, have a great weekend!! BTW. due to having rich foods, etc, good to have a third glass of fresh white cabbage juice or celery daily on empty stomach, heals stomach/gut inflammations, ulcers
Thanks Cat.. really need that detoxing.. 3 hawker meals a week is gruelling.. 😵💫 Govt should at least keep the rent low and draw lots to get the stalls rather then having the highest bidder take the stall. As for visiting SG now.. not sure.. coz we just opened up and it's free for all.. airports flooded.. we will only know in a weeks time if the hospital beds are all occupied. But the general feel is that Singaporeans are all out to play. The malls are packed.. the playgrounds are packed. Sales promoters are out. Seems like everybody gave up.. although many are still wearing masks in public even if it's optional now. Wait for a week.. should be able to visit soon. Can even pay Malaysia a visit if you're keen
The upper floor is the ATAS section, where the food is more fusion style and prices is higher. The one below is the traditional hawker food, cai png, cha bee hoon, nasi padang and normal prices. Only been there a couple of times and only downstairs. Eggie is poor. Nonya stall looks interesting, can give it a go. And she's wearing a kebaya, not kebab 😂. Congee looks more like oats, so smooth. Since you give it thumbs up, will give it a try too. Rarely eat salmon, would prefer the skin to be crispy. Next week downstairs? Cheers!

Hai! Piggypuggy 😀 I went to this Food Central twice, it's not bad . But it's too bad Fasting Month .. I better watch your video at night, scared cannot tahan see the food 😂😂😂
🤗🤔I heard there is high inflation or typically known as "Hyper Inflation" in Singapore now. Is it❓ That's why I am thinking maybe after returning to Singapore 4 months later, I should come back to Philippines next year again because there is no hyperinflation here and prices are so low (except imported foods) and I am eating so well here doing my own cooking especially soups I like, making special ancient traditional yogurts and healthy fermented vegetables/foods although I especially missed the duck & mutton dishes in Singapore. 😜🤣But then again, my schedule is I still have to travel to another 3 countries first from next year onwards. Philippines may have to wait. 👍Thank you again for this entertaining production @Piggypuggy 👏
Yeah.. it’s getting a bit expensive. But Singaporeans can generally afford it or has gotten used to higher prices. Continue your passion with food wherever you go 😊
Didn't know kapitan curry chicken is available here! Need to try it next time. I usually ate the ayam penyet downstairs, looked upstairs, appeared mostly to be hipster wannabe types... tried one, the "surf & turf" you called it, average food with above average price. Only reasonably priced store is the drink staill, coffee at $1?
Every bit of that looked AAAAAAAAAAMAZING! Even the congee, which I usually think is pretty bland so I don't give it stomach space lol. I'd have tried that one, though, it looks delicious! I'd leave the salmon skin, too. Are you going to a part 2? Pretty up market for a hawker center, but if it tasted as good as it looked seems like it was still pretty reasonable. And they DID have Big Ass Fans, so they made an effort to keep it homey 😆
Yeah... Big Ass Fans are the real deal.. But of late.. all the copycats are appearing at much lower costs. I heard the stalls on level 1 are the traditional hawker fare.. much cheaper too.. like regular hawker price. Maybe will visit again someday
@@Piggypuggy Your welcome! Those complaining its expensive does not seem to know the hawker centre concept. Its meant to be a modern hawker centre with traditional hawker food and the more "atas" options. The second floor have uncommon stalls that do not sell your usual hawker fare ,however most comes with a hefty price tag. The stalls located at the second floor simply caters to a different demographic. So for those who want cheaper and more affordable hawker food options can check out the first floor, though stores are limited there.
Thanks for sharing atas foodcourt, the reality is good premium hawker food are affordable to deeper pockets.. glad there are still cheaper options for the rest of us
I nearly flipped when I heard the premium prawn noodles was $18.. but I would day those prices around 6+ is a really more premium then what’s goin for 3-5$ meals that doesn’t put in effort. Once in a while laa.. my pocket also cannot tahan 😢
I would love to visit a food court that had that many kinds of food. Here in the US the food courts are mostly terrible. Everyone can get what they want.
The second and third tier prawn mee so expensive, the price can compare with the old airport old prawn mee. Also the layout there kinda reminds me of kampung admiralty hawker, although there not so much atas food. Would love for you to do a video there though :D
Most of the food at upper level are Fusion or Atas, Level 1 has more hawker food. Wild Olive at Level 2 came from Changi Airport Terminal 2 Staff canteen, a huge favourite then. Even over at Pasir Ris it always has long queue. TQ for Video PiggyPuggy
Was my first time there.. though bit atas.. I can understand why it’s gotta be priced around 6-8. Not bad laa.. it’s nice 😊 but just that folks won’t have it on a daily basis. Hope they can survive. Thanks for sharing your knowledge 😄 I learn from my viewers who knows a lot more
Wed usually have what’s called a “western food” stall at Hawker centres. Many years back.. steaks and fish and chips and breakfast sausage sets weren’t part of the local southeast Asian diet. Today.. these western food stalls have evolve to be part of our hawker landscape. Chicken chop and fish and chips among the favourites.
Singapore has gotten real expensive in a short period of time.. plus.. nobody is willing to put in hard work as a hawker without good revenue these days
One of the important characteristics of Hawker Centre is affordability, but we are drifted further away and away from it. Eventually, only the mid-income level can afford to eat there. The curse of being UNESCO listed?
More like the curse of the rising income.. and no new comers would want a mediocre pay being a hawker that doesn’t have medical care and annual leave..
@@Piggypuggy I guess they all contribute to the present scenario, not to mention stall rental, inflation, GST hype speculation, Michelin, etc. Nevertheless, it is the new age, there is no turning back. Simple home cooking or Fast Food seems a more viable option in future. c",)
