What I love about this whole series is that all of these beautiful items, which must have meant a great deal to the original owners of the house, isn't being destroyed or thrown away. I love that between you, Andrew, Gus and Nina, these items will go on to people who also love them. It's almost like the original owner's legacy continues on. Great job all 4 of you!!

I’ve been watching your channel for over four years, going on five years and I have always admired the fact that you and Andrew have always been honest and more than generous with the people you buy from and have never knowingly taken unfair advantage of a seller.

But you several times said you weren't going just take the stuff and you were going to pay a fare price and if something did exceptionally well you intend to make it right with him. You didn't need to share that but you did. I believe that you also said you were helping him to know what was valuable things so that he would know what he wanted to keep. I wanted to add, now that my hands are free of clay - I was sculpting earlier when this video popped up & I got clay all over my phone just to push play, upvote, and add a short comment, but very worth it! ☺️
That said, most people don’t realize what a monumental task it is to clean out a house, let alone a hot, smelly hoarder’s house that’s been abandoned for 20 years & left to the wild critters. So unless they are ever in that position, they should keep their comments & negativity to themselves.
Most people would’ve just went in there & shoveled everything up & tossed the boxes, bags, etc., thinking it all to be gross, contaminated trash, just wanting to get to the actual flipping of the house, not realizing what valuable items they were carting off to the dump! So to me, it was fate that someone like Gus bought it, who said he metal detects on his video, so he at least knew there were treasures to be found in there, & he is lucky to have a friend like Jocelyn who was able to come and share her time and knowledge and help out. Not only that, but she fairly paid for the items she took, even though they were offered to her for free, & even agreed to give Gus more money, should the pieces sell exceptionally well - that’s something that most would not do, so that speaks volumes of her character. ♥️ And then she shared it all with us, so appreciate it, not criticize.

@@wandajuul5150 Sadly hoarding stems from Depression, OCD, and ADHD. It can also be due to self sabotaging by trying to create chaos in order to replicate a traumatic time in ones life or to "cover" up they truth of the problem. I've also seen it in people with PTSD & people who have experienced the death of a spouse/ significant other, parent, or a child. It's the symptom of a much more severe issue and it's incredibly sad and yes is crippling to many. I've also seen it in people with substantial health issues and with no help from love ones or friends to clean/ cook etc & then things can quickly snowball down a mountain.

This is one of my most favorite videos you have done in a while. So honest, direct, and insightful. And you so elegantly clarified the expertise and integrity you bring to the table in your work. Respect. :-)

Wonderful summary! What an intriguing series on this hoarder house. You mentioned the owners are still alive. Bless their hearts. Their treasures. I’m personally grateful you and Andrew were able to select from it. If the owners ever became aware of where their things ended up I’m sure they’d be blessed to know you had a part in it…and all those who will now purchase and enjoy them. I look around at all my treasures. I’m selling them and gifting them now. I would’ve say I’m a hoarder ha! But while I have my wits I want to share my treasure now. Wish me luck!! Finally…Jocelyn, you have inspired me in so many ways. I wish I could adopt you!!

Now that I know the previous owners are still alive I'm even more grateful that you took the same time & carefulness with everything as you do at resale shops etc. Who ever lived in that house was a hoarder of treasure and it must be comforting for them if they watch these videos to see someone get excited & treat all with appreciation.

I have ADORED this series and loved seeing you pick out the good stuff! Really, don’t let the people who nitpick your process get you down. I have looked forward to your videos every day for a long time, and you have taught me so much about what’s valuable and what’s not. Thank you so much for constantly creating a community among us resellers, trash-pickers, and treasure-hunters! So much love from TN!!

You probably know by now but that funny looking Red Wing dog is an ash receiver. Fancy name for an ashtray! Collectors pay good $$$ for them! Come in lots of different colors.

Binged watched this series today (miserable grey Sunday here on the Isle of Man so it’s been perfect!) thanks for signposting it in your recent video! Amazing finds. The previous owner did have great taste, shame she probably could not sit back and look at her treasures displayed as they deserve to be.

I think Jocelyn is mature enough to realize to take any comments with a grain of salt. She may get negative comments, or unsolicited advise how to do her job but she has also thanked many viewers for their comments on items she was not familiar with. If both the viewer and the TH-camr learn something new from each other I believe it is a win win.

I guess it just shows how many people didn’t really listen to what you said. Gus knew he had a lot of glass and pottery and didn’t know a lot about it. He basically hired you to pull out as much of the obviously valuable things and gave you the opportunity to purchase what you would like and took your offer as an honest estimation of the wholesale value. He knows very well that you will sell it for more, you’d be a poor business woman if you didn’t, but he knew your offer would be fair. He can now research the rest of the items at his leisure to determine a selling price knowing that they are of value. The joy of discovering each of them was an added bonus for you. I love his enthusiasm for Bakelite. I really wanted to see those dishes you called fridgies as they greatly resembled some dishes my Grandmother had from Pyrex. Great job.
