Epic views and the weather seemed to be on your side 😊 Any chances of sharing the route you took? I’m planning a 5-6 day hike to Jotunheimen for next summer. Plan is to start at the end of July so maybe the weather is similar. What kind of highs and lows can I expect (temperature wise 😊) during the hike and how big of a factor does the sun ☀️ play out there?
The sun is so rare in this area that I would not count on it for anything like charging or drying stuff. The weather is usually bad no matter when you go, so I wait until there is a good forecast, this time it was in late summer, early fall. Expect temperatures below freezing and a lot of fog, so plan extra days for staying in camp. This video shows a rare week of great weather, so do not expect this kind of beautiful weather if you have a set schedule you need to follow.
It's just incredible what beauty, what atmosphere you were able to create. This is truly a meditative experience watching you. I myself started making videos about my adventures, so I'm interested in everything. Grretings from Belarus tourist. 👍
Thank you for the inspiration. An other great location for my bucket list. I plan to visit Norway in one of the coming years. Your videos are a great source of places to add to my itinerary. The lake at about 35 minutes, is that Gjende?
Hei Jarl. Fantastisk video som vanlig. Can you share some thoughts about the precautions you take when hiking alone and and not using trekking poles? That looks like some really rough territory and a lone hiker is one fall away from a very bad day.
Thank you, trekking poles will not keep you safe, an ice axe might if you where on snow or ice. I trust my legs more than I would trust trekking poles.
Absolutely breathtaking landscapes, and as always, phenomenal cinematography from you, Jarl! What camera do you use for filming your videos, or are you using your iPhone? I'm in Idaho, a few hours away from the Sawtooth Wilderness Area (approximately 3.5 hours). I watch your videos on my own, but I've recently introduced my son to your TH-cam videos and we watch them together when we have lunch. He's caught backpacking fever from me and has been going with me on hiking and backpacking trips now for the past two years. Fair weather and happy trekking to you!
Thank you again! Glad your son watches with you! I was in the Sawtooths a few years ago, up and over the Kramer divide, Alice, Toxaway lake etc in early season snow, wonderful place
Stunning location. Can you tel me where it is? When I google 61.7° I get a location east of Viksoyri. I can't understand your starting point. Can you share the route?
Can you drink the water directly from streams in Jotunheminen, or did you bring some kind of filter? I'm going hiking there in august, but after researching a bit I'm confused if it safe to just drink the water as it is.

You’ve stuck with that Marmot Tungsten UL 1P tent for a couple years now and have used it in some pretty severe conditions. What’s your overall impression? Likes & dislikes?
I like it, it is not a very solid tent, but it is cheap and lightweight, havent had the need to replace it with anything else. I do however have other tents for when the forecast is bad.
@@NorwegianXplorer I got the Plex Solo tent from Z Packs for a rigorous trip requiring an Ultralight setup. Great tent, light weight but it has its issues. After using that tent I realized how much I really liked the Marmot tent. It’s relatively lightweight, easy to setup/tear down, has an air vent to minimize condensation issues, free standing (easy to move/adjust & clean debris out of tent), double walled (retains more warmth), when fly is velcro secured to tent poles and with 2 guyout points it is bomb proof, fly material doesn’t sag, relatively roomy for a 1P, has a large vestibule area, and has a small footprint (fits into tighter tent spots). My only complaint is I wish the mesh didn’t go so low on the side opposite the door. On cold windy nights it can be a bit breezy inside the tent. Other than that I’ve been quite pleased with it for shoulder season and summer usage. What’s on your agenda for 2023?
