      My #1 favorite machine ... everything you do and have makes me jealous 😂😂 keep Killin the game ..I want to do a mod on my 1up machine that you did but I suck at stuff like this😩😩😩 I need new tables😂

    This was one of my all time favourite tables as a kid. I played it a handful of times back when my local mall had an arcade in it. If I didn’t live in an apartment and could afford it I’d love to own one of these tables. I’d even do research and any repairs and cleaning it needed 😊

    No way! I used to play this when my grandma would take me to the McDonalds on Glenstone! The gun handle with the trigger as the launch button blew my 10 year old mind.

    Keep coming with the physical pinball restoration videos. I love to tinker and have been wanting to mess around with a good 90's pinball machine for the longest time. If you could also convince Mindy to let us put one in our house that would awesome.

    Interesting. Buying an 'old' pinball machine is not for everybody and a lot of work. But it is, or becomes a hobby. Thanks for the tour!

      It's definitely work to keep the older machines in working order, but it's very satisfying to bring them back to life and their former glory.

    I just picked up the new Stern jurassic park home edition and I couldn't be happier! I love it! I've had lot of people over to play it. I grew up playing this DE machine as well!

    CoolToy,
    So cool you got your DREAM MACHINE! It's funny, I've never played this Data East Jurassic Park pinball, real or virtual. Not being a fan of the first two films, I know sacrilege, I always passed this one up in the arcade. However, if I would've paid attention and saw noticed the Data East branding, I might have given it a try. Data East made some fantastic pinball back in the day, Star Wars, Star Trek (with the beaming animation on the backglass) and Tommy were some of my favorites! Didn't know about the T-Rex eat the ball action... SO AWESOME! Thanks as always for sharing and again, congrats on the dream find!

    Hey hey! Congrats!! What a score!! I think it's amazing how extraordinarily complicated a Pinball machine really is. I think very few people really understand and you're off to an excellent start at keeping a true classic alive!! 👌
    One thing, I hope you'll keep some of the original art. Patina is character. I know some people like their machines to be as perfect as new, bit I'd say used with life preservation is perfect!

    • @cooltoy

    This was my absolute favorite pinball machine growing up in the 90s. I used to play it at my local pizza place. I loved, of course, the t Rex eating the ball. Was at my local barcade recently, and asked if they knew this machine, and could maybe get one? They said it is nearly impossible...so congrats! Dude, you gotta get that second pterodactyl....

    Congratulations. One day I'll get a pinball machine. Don't have the room in my a house right now. Williams Big Guns is the table I want. Fell in love with it playing it in college. Wish Pinball FX would add Big Guns to their library.

    Congratulations on your beautiful Jurassic Park pinball machine, Doug! It's the machine I probably played the most growing up too, and I'd love to own one myself some day when I have the room. In a few weeks my very first real, full-size pinball machine will arrive here, Stern's Jurassic Park Home Pin! I am so excited, but I still have to make some room for it, my house is too full of Arcade1Ups. When Data East sold the JP pinball machines, they included the replacement slingshot plastics either as replacements or to give operators the option to customise the machine, so they're not an aftermarket part (there's a video on TH-cam showing the unboxing of NIB Data East JP where you'll see they came included). It's interesting that a few of us home arcade people are getting JP pinball machines lately, I wonder who will be the first of us to add a Sega Lost World to their home arcade.

    Awesome you found one, I have one too. My favorite as a kid. I bought mine in KC in 2004. Really good shape came from a German night club. Coin door has DM instead of quarters otherwise same. Always wanted the led mod. It's alot of labor. I don't work on it myself beyond basic stuff. There is a local guy that does quality repair. One thing since 2006 ish when stopped researching there was a count of 7700 not 9000? Wonder how that's happened. Honestly if you take 7700, and factor in about 2000 went over seas....the amount of tables in the US drop drastically. Even in 2004 a good one locally was hard to find. Good on ya!

      The Elwin one is very fun. If it wasn't for the Pro version not having a moving T-Rex I may have bought that machine instead of my Stranger Things machine.

    • @joshgrube84

      Yeah as great as the new one is you gota go premium there is no way I'm selling my 28 year old machine for a JP with a static T-Rex. Tho they did create a mod called T-Rex alive or something like that for the pro you may want to look into for future reference. It's very cool it fooled me in a twitch stream but it still can't interact with the ball. Plus that raptor pen on the new premium is amazing. Anyway I'm thrilled your part of the community looking fwd to more pinball content from you happy new year!

    How did you gain the knowledge to fix a pinball machine? Do you watch videos and read the manual?

    • @cooltoy
      @cooltoy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's all self taught, I've always just been one of those people who needed to know how things work. As a kid a got in trouble a lot for always dismantling toys and things in the house just so I could better understand how they operated. The internet is chock full or great message boards and helpful videos, so if you are curious to learn more about the repair side of the pinball hobby, you can rest assured the information is out there somewhere.

    Hey, Cooltoy!! We just managed to find a good deal on a Jurassic Park Data east as well. We're wondering if the MPU has to be replaced with a newer one though. What capabilities does the newer MPU do for the machine? I want to add a color dmd and upgrade to the 6.0 code as well as add the pinsound setup as well. Do you know if the new MPU is necessary to make these newer additions?

    • @cooltoy
      @cooltoy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MPU doesn’t have to be replaced for any particular reason. The Data East ones are just known to be less than bullet proof and enough have failed over three years that the third party boards are often the best course of action. If yours is still working without issue though, there is no need to swap yours out to prepare for any of those mods you listed

    Replace your rubbers. Sage advice.

    • @cooltoy
      @cooltoy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rubbers are incredibly cheap and rather simple to install for most machines, so there really is no excuse for people to not keep up with regularly changing them out when needed.

    Dang, I've always wanted my own official authentic pinball machine but I have no knowledge of how to maintain or repair them. Nor do i have any interest in learning, LOL. I just want a pinball cabinet that works and is reliable haha! But I know that because they are mechanical, they need an owner that would be able to expand their lifespan. That's not me. I'm probably not worthy of owning something like this.

    Yes, yes, yes, but can it play space invaders? We in the UK come January will have a stockist of the Atgames Legends pinball cabinets, £800 or $1,073. It is on my bucket list to get, even though I am not a massive fan of pinball. I just hope that we do not get old and unsold models from the States as that would be a kick in the teeth, they were supposed to have been here May 2021. I will be looking for when you release that video about hiding the usb and input ports at the top. It honestly looks disgusting with all those cables attached, I do not even like the d-pad, and please don't get me started on people butchering a pinball cabinet with a joystick control panel. The flipper buttons should have been used since day one for up, down, left, right and then enter keys for the coin door.

      Nope, no video from me. I prefer to defy conformity on my channel, so you won't see a video from me on that. Too many people making the exact same video today already about the same thing, and each video is the same as the rest.
