I booked today a Forest Green Royal Enfield Std Bullet 500 after watching all your videos and your guidance helped me to reach my decision which was hiding behind Chrome 500. Thanks a lot, you, your videos with Q&A sessions, washing part, maintenance part and enthusiasm helped me and many like me a lot. Only thing pushed me back while booking Std 500 was the new BS IV thing comes with EFI instead of carburetor. Moreover, I was told by RE representative at their showroom in Dombivli that due to BS IV insertion you can't fill your fuel tank above 10 litres, if you do a full tank the bike won't start. Reason he said, BS IV has sensors at 10 litres above that it won't figure out and bike would fail to respond and won't start. Also I need to maintain 3 litres fuel in my fuel tank, failing which it may cause EFI problems. Also, he said that if I proceed to change the exhaust to say Goldstar it won't be possible since the outlet for exhaust in BS IV is small and even if I succeed by some or the other way installing Goldie it won't deliver the thump it used to previously for carbureted STD 500. lol that will always be there bro, you can never say what will go wrong. but the thing is it can be repaired by any mechanic in any village so it makes the bike touring friendly.

it has 6 gears so i think we need to rev it higher for that perfect feel you were saying about so if not downshifting wont help because the slipper clutch rev matches to maintain same consistensy

so here is the story after months of R&D i picked thunderbird 500 i took several test rides of dominar pulsar rs200 rc 200 thunderbird 500 classic 500 and bullet 500 i finally picked tb 500 because it was comfortable had projectors digital meter and biggest plus point was the massive 20ltr fuel tank so on April 6th i went to the re showroom in khan market delhi there they had they had Himalayan for test ride the guy insisted on taking a testdrive of the himalayan and my mind was blown it felt nothing like an re it had almost no vibrations on lower rev range suspension was butter smooth it was so smooth that it reminded me of rolls Royce phantom which i got an opportunity to sit in few years back. seat was one of the softest seats ive ever sat on( felt like this is what your butt deserves) and the off-road exhaust it had man-o-man i was impressed the instrument cluster was also very well informative with compass etc immediately booked himalayan. if you do t believe me go test drive a Himalayan and you will feel how i feel about the himalayan rn all i want to say is dont believe all the negatives/complain people are saying (its mostly 1+1=3 situation) there were only 3 things i liked more about tb500 more than the himalayan 1. the horn tb comes with a dual horn while Himalayan comes with a single horn 2. projectors and 3. 20ltr fuel tank
Dominar owner here. Bought on 1 February 2017. I haven't felt heating in 6k kms that i have clicked till date. For gearing thing, yes gear ratios are bit weird to get used to. Once you get to used to it, u will love it every moment you spend on the saddle. I was not so sure about my choice as i faced power lag issues were prominent for the first 1000 kms or so but then after ECU updates, there are 0 power lag issues. Maintenance: 1st at 500kms,1200rs, 2nd: rs280(two hundred eighty).at 5000 kms 3rd: due at 10k kms.should not be more than 1500 Every 5k kms, engine oil has to be topped up and every 10k kms, oil is to be replaced. Have touched 159kmph (then stopped myself from being an ass) The only problem i feel: WEIGHT . But thik hai, chalta hai! 😜 For long ride thing: i have ridden 70 kms 100-125 kmph, non stop and stopped for food not because of body discomfort or tantrums of bike. Efficiency: in city, traffic conditions:26-28kmpl ( i ride rough). On highway: jaipur to delhi and reverse: i got 32 kmpl ( 70% route done in 90-130kmph range). I m sure if i had been a patient rider, I would have juiced 35kmpl for sure😜 🍻
RE give mileage of 35 and resale value of RE and dominor you can't even compare I know dominor is much more advance and has abs but RE for those who ride at below 100 speed I own RE when you ride classic 350 it has its own and unique riding experience which we normally don't get on every bike you that's why sales figure of 2017 was 5lakh of re classic 350 vs 22 thousand of dominar but yeah they're some unsatisfied user of re but RE should me well maintained for better experience..

+ridewithraj I own a dominar 400 and I use it for daily commute to office as well as long rides and till now I have not felt any heat as you are experiencing and we have a group of around 100 or more I guess who ride dominar only few of them complained about it and got it resolved. So if it's happening with your friends bike then just check it in service Center
Ride With Raj rpm is supposed to go up if you downshift. What's wrong with that? You need to give some throttle and raise the rpm for smooth downshifts. It happens automatically in dominar as it has a slipper clutch.
Chain needs slack adjustment after certain kms, the svc cntrs ignore that imp adjustment. Dominar has rolon drive chain, also used by the fz25 and many other brands, so nothing wrong with the chain used in the bike! If you follow the xbhp owners thread there are no heating or economy complaints whatsoever!

Raj i have ds as well as Electra. i was a fan of re's . But not now. The amount of trouble desert storm gave me is intolerable, Electra is ok though.what should one do with vintage feeling when he cant ride it without going to a mechanic regularly..Bhai enough of vintage thing , i want to ride now.

I think all RE owners would agree with me.Now a days the new RE's just look retro and thats all. I rather buy a unicorn over the bullet.😂😂😁 No hates.. Just a personal opinion.

I have booked this bike and I am well aware of the problems I will be facing. RE bikes demand a lot of servicing, and hence one needs to be mentally prepared for this before buying it. If you make a schedule to at least to tighten nuts and bolts, scrapping off rust (WD40), oiling the chain, and greasing, you would be amazed how wonderful this bike is. RE bikes cannot be compared to Dominar/ KTM and others. Its like comparing Saina Nehwal and Sania Mirza. Be prepared to spend around Rs.2000-3500/month. I am saying this because many users are facing problems with this bike. Btw a good video. Keep it up.
I am about to buy the dominar in coming one week. Thats why i already saw around 20-22 review videos of dominar, but the kind of honest review ane point of view of yours that you have really impressed me. Thanks Raj bro for this decent review but I m lil bit concerned about the milage of dominar if it's doing only 18km/l pluse with regular service than this bike will be a pain in ☆☆☆ because it going to drain out your wallet. People are confused between RE 350 & DOMINAR because of the similar price band and the power, if RE 350 churns out even near 30ps & 30nm in the same price band like the dominar people will directly go for RE 350 (RE500 is expensive) without even considering Dominar. Winding up.... guys if u want power + modern style + performance + feel of big bikes and can bare the cost of 18-20 kmpl milage regularly and the regular maintained charge (Rs 1500 approx on servicing)go for dominar on the other hand if u love vintage style of ROYAL ENFIELD (milage RE 350 is 40-45 kmpl speed 45-50 km/h ) and don't want a hole in your wallet go for RE 350.
very good unbiased riding experience review. But two flaws noticed.1) Now all motorcycles come with Auto headlamp on,even Royal Enfield. 2) You concluded Dominar is a college/ city run bike, but it is positioned as a power cruiser. even you told that in the early part of your video. Also how are you so sure in predicting Dominars high maintenance cost.

One thing people dont ever get.... Re-sale value 🙂 Even after 5-10 years , a well maintained RE can be sold easily around 1-1.2 Lakhs with multitude of buyers.... Hell! my uncle has an older model RE Bullet since 40 years nd people have gone as high as 1.5 Lakh for it....! Thats the power of a brand which has been around since ages... That reason alone was enough for me to choose buying RE instead of Dominar... as the price was almost same 🙂

Great review... but should have driven it on actual traffic conditions.. watching the same road kinda gets boring. Also i can see that u have been driving yash's bullet 500 quite alot recently. I think he has given it to u to take care of it not to ride it as ur primary bike. Plus u are giving it to a stranger to ride.. thats not good..

About dominar there is no heating issue , less vibration than RE ,much refined engine than RE , where dominar gets ABS , in every manner dominar is the best
Driving a cast Iron Royal Enfield electra 350 since 2006 when I didn’t even have a license. But now a days I highly doubt their build quality. Motorcycling for some people is an extension of their ego and thereby comes the natural denial of the RE crowd that dominar is not a better bike. But putting aside everything else if we judge then Dominar is a far more safer, advance and reliable bike than the RE’s. The ego projection is the sole reason that Royal Enfield has taken it’s Indian consumers as granted and at the same factory they are making Classic 350 , 500 with alloy wheels and Abs and are exporting them abroad rather than selling them in India. The people at RE has drawn the graph that RE fanatic crowd will still continue to buy RE irrespective of all the problems that comes along with the large price tag and no VFM. I love my Enfield but for long tours and highway rides I can say that Dominar is 100 times better and safer than any model of RE.

bro, if u up the gear at 60 it means u are going to ride at higher speed not at 60

Ride With Raj rpm is supposed to go up if you downshift. What's wrong with that? You need to give some throttle and raise the rpm for smooth downshifts. It happens automatically in dominar as it has a slipper clutch.

Chain needs slack adjustment after certain kms, the svc cntrs ignore that imp adjustment. Dominar has rolon drive chain, also used by the fz25 and many other brands, so nothing wrong with the chain used in the bike! If you follow the xbhp owners thread there are no heating or economy complaints whatsoever!

Raj i have ds as well as Electra. i was a fan of re's . But not now. The amount of trouble desert storm gave me is intolerable, Electra is ok though.what should one do with vintage feeling when he cant ride it without going to a mechanic regularly..Bhai enough of vintage thing , i want to ride now.

I agree with your points but the new RE's are junk. My friend has 1980 modal RE ,Hats off to that bike. I think all RE owners would agree with me.Now a days the new RE's just look retro and thats all.

I have booked this bike and I am well aware of the problems I will be facing. RE bikes demand a lot of servicing, and hence one needs to be mentally prepared for this before buying it.
If you make a schedule to at least to tighten nuts and bolts, scrapping off rust (WD40), oiling the chain, and greasing, you would be amazed how wonderful this bike is.
RE bikes cannot be compared to Dominar/ KTM and others. Its like comparing Saina Nehwal and Sania Mirza. Be prepared to spend around Rs.2000-3500/month. I am saying this because many users are facing problems with this bike.

I am about to buy the dominar in coming one week. Thats why i already saw around 20-22 review videos of dominar, but the kind of honest review ane point of view of yours that you have really impressed me. Thanks Raj bro for this decent review but I m lil bit concerned about the milage of dominar if it's doing only 18km/l pluse with regular service than this bike will be a pain in ☆☆☆ because it going to drain out your wallet. People are confused between RE 350 & DOMINAR because of the similar price band and the power, if RE 350 churns out even near 30ps & 30nm in the same price band like the dominar people will directly go for RE 350 (RE500 is expensive) without even considering Dominar. Winding up.... guys if u want power + modern style + performance + feel of big bikes and can bare the cost of 18-20 kmpl milage regularly and the regular maintained charge (Rs 1500 approx on servicing)go for dominar on the other hand if u love vintage style of ROYAL ENFIELD (milage RE 350 is 40-45 kmpl speed 45-50 km/h ) and don't want a hole in your wallet go for RE 350.

very good unbiased riding experience review. But two flaws noticed.1) Now all motorcycles come with Auto headlamp on,even Royal Enfield. 2) You concluded Dominar is a college/ city run bike, but it is positioned as a power cruiser. even you told that in the early part of your video.
Also how are you so sure in predicting Dominars high maintenance cost.

One thing people dont ever get.... Re-sale value 🙂 Even after 5-10 years , a well maintained RE can be sold easily around 1-1.2 Lakhs with multitude of buyers.... Hell! my uncle has an older model RE Bullet since 40 years nd people have gone as high as 1.5 Lakh for it....! Thats the power of a brand which has been around since ages...
That reason alone was enough for me to choose buying RE instead of Dominar... as the price was almost same 🙂

Swagat panda Yes this was the scenario. But now 2nd hand RE prices is down.You can check in OLX and Quikr. 3to 4years old RE is available at 60 to 70k.

Great review... but should have driven it on actual traffic conditions.. watching the same road kinda gets boring. Also i can see that u have been driving yash's bullet 500 quite alot recently. I think he has given it to u to take care of it not to ride it as ur primary bike. Plus u are giving it to a stranger to ride.. thats not good..

Brother, Im a dominar owner... and I think that the heating sooo much less that the duke 390. also, the heat isnt too much... it quite bearable.

About dominar there is no heating issue , less vibration than RE
,much refined engine than RE , where dominar gets ABS , in every manner dominar is the best

Driving a cast Iron Royal Enfield electra 350 since 2006 when I didn’t even have a license. But now a days I highly doubt their build quality.
Motorcycling for some people is an extension of their ego and thereby comes the natural denial of the RE crowd that dominar is not a better bike. But putting aside everything else if we judge then Dominar is a far more safer, advance and reliable bike than the RE’s.
The ego projection is the sole reason that Royal Enfield has taken it’s Indian consumers as granted and at the same factory they are making Classic 350 , 500 with alloy wheels and Abs and are exporting them abroad rather than selling them in India.
The people at RE has drawn the graph that RE fanatic crowd will still continue to buy RE irrespective of all the problems that comes along with the large price tag and no VFM.
I love my Enfield but for long tours and highway rides I can say that Dominar is 100 times better and safer than any model of RE.

new Duke 390 goes upto 167 kmpl and Dominar easily goes to 166kmpl,and the price difference is near 1lakh

RE give mileage of 35 and resale value of RE and dominor you can't even compare I know dominor is much more advance and has abs but RE for those who ride at below 100 speed I own RE when you ride classic 350 it has its own and unique riding experience which we normally don't get on every bike you that's why sales figure of 2017 was 5lakh of re classic 350 vs 22 thousand of dominar but yeah they're some unsatisfied user of re because RE should me well maintained for better experience some people not able take care of it. I maintain my classic 350 very well very neat and clean whenever I go out almost every time found some people ask in how much it's coming now and everytime they say I will also buy it. This is the difference

I am getting 26 kmpl in short roads and traffic
and expect 30+ kmpl on good main roads
And it's fuel injected so it has better fuel efficiency than ktm 390 so after serving u'll surly get till 28 atleast in cities and above 30 on highway with average speed of 60 or 70
