      I absolutely love this Amp! I've got the red one, sounds and look beautiful. Very good with a lower gain (at 11:00) and a TS in front. Also with mid boost switch engaged and scooped in the eq. Very large range of sounds and possibilities.

    Hell yeah! Love this thing. It's so much more than just a "metal" amp, versatile and truly powerful. Some people say it sounds harsh, but it's actually warmer and fuller-sounding than most other small amps. And it has that nice signature Engl kind of breathiness and shriek in the high mids/ top end.
    Great review! You've done it the justice it deserves.

    It's my #1 amp. I am not a metal player. This amp works for everything I've thrown at it: jazz, blues, rock, funk, fusion. It's a great amp period. They cost a bit more over here in the U.S. To me, it's still worth it. Great video as always! Appreciate your videos.

      If you just order the European version off Thomann you can save like $700 over buying in the US. Even accounting for shipping and a transformer to use it in the US it's still like a $5-600 difference. $1350 USD is a little much for a 25W I think, though these are amazing.

    • @JoMaMaz

      @@magneto9210😲 Wow! As someone potentially considering the ENGL Fireball 25, thanks! I did not even think of this, but even though it's a massive price savings, do you have to know what you're doing with a transformer, or is it just plug and play?

    One of the many benefits of this channel is, you exactly know what you get when you buy gear. Jon shows what an amp is able to sound for every classic genre. It is not necessary just to buy things and send them back, you really can hear what you get. Many years ago i´ve got a Ritchie Blackmore which sounded absolutely amazing, nowadays i think, ENGL makes people addicted with their classy but aggressive sound that easily cuts through the mix without hours of tweaking. Thanks for so much power, really appreciate your ideas and the work behind!

    I love everything about this amp except that it seems designed to cook all the internal components. Although it does have a top/front vents, the rear vent is blocked by all the power soak resistor's which on their own would throw a lot of heat into the cab when in use and block cool air when not in use. Plus, it has a total of six tubes cooking in a small format box. I would be using it at low power most the time so the power resistors will be cooking as well. Also, they seemed to go with a crapload of what appear to be 5watt power resistors instead of using fewer higher wattage ones {probably for cost savings]. Many more components that can fail plus if one goes, it is only a matter of time before a break-down or short occurs. I think I'll wait and see what the track record is for players who use it on a regular basis of gigs and rehearsals. I know Engl amps are reliable and maybe I'm overreacting. I want one but they are like $1350.00 where I'm at. I have a PRS HDRX-20 and it gets really hot after a couple hours {small box}. I've owned 100watt Marshall's and almost every tube amp from the 60's, 70's, and 80's. They get hot but are minimal builds in comparison to the Fireball. The Fireball 25 would seem to be the perfect amp for bedroom to live gigs. I'm open to anyone's thoughts or opinions. Especially from those who own one or any amp-techs out there.

    • @acdover
      @acdover 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The whole front of the amp, minus the logo, is wide open. It's got a good bit of ventilation. I've had mine about 4 months now. It doesn't get as hot as you might think. When rehearsing with my band, it stays on for 4+ hours.
      I play it through a 4x12 Mesa OS cab and it will for sure keep up in a band situation. I've been using a triple rec for the last 15 years, and I prefer the tone of the Engl. It really sounds that good and I don't have to use a boost out front. I do use a noise gate out front. The built in one has a weird cut off, but using both with lower settings has a smoother cut off.

    Pretty useful because the metal demo can be compared to the Fireball 100 from the high gain amps shoot out you did. Requires a bit more gain in smaller form, but more than enough with tight output for even the low end stuff.

    Have it too, prefer it indeed over my ENGL Powerball 2 because it has something more smooth but still agressive in the high gain area, where I always struggled with my PB2. Just got mine. Keeping me up at night. Don't understand why they made their matching 1x12 cabs 8 ohm . If I understand the ohm thing correctly. You can't use 2, 8 ohm 1x12's at the same time .1-8, 1-16, or 2-16's . But on the back of the 1x12 it has a parrell in /thru Jack's? 2 , 8 ohms is 4 ohms and I don't think that would be good . Love this demo . Probably the best amp I've ever had .

      It is really loud. I use it in two different death metal Bands (D and B tuning) with some crazy drummers and volumes. I barely crank it up to 11 and 12 o'clock on the lead and master volume otherwise the other guitarists 100 Watt Marshall Tsl gets totaly buried in the mix. Cuts through the Mix perfectly if you crank mids and treble like in the video.

    Love the amp. Quick question though, if the amp has a power soak, why did you use your external reactive load? Is the sound different? As you mentioned, having the power soak is a very cool feature to have, and having a solid state head, I've never been in the need to have a load, so transitioning to a Fireball will allow me to record straight from the amp without investing in additional equipment. Would like to know if the sound is not affected by using the external load vs the internal power soak.

      Whenever I see a question like this, I wonder what the person asking the question is using now and what they plan to do with their future purchase. Any 25W tube amp is more than loud enough for band rehearsals. The whole “I play with a loud drummer” thing seems comically overused. Maybe your drummer is used to beating the hell out of the skins because he plays with guitar players that turn up too loud.

      @@singleproppilot i have this old Engl Savage 60, 60w is enough but it needs massice repair. And as i said i have a Marshall DSL20H, 20w which is kinda not enough so i think it's not that clear a 25w head will be enough

    Подскажите пожалуйста, когда отключаешь выход на кабинет и берёшь линейный сигнал из усилителя в звуковую карту, теряется ли влияние оконечника?

      @@SonicDriveStudio I don't see the point in that. They will more than likely just direct me to their official Canadian distributors, none of which have it in stock. The one in my city I contacted said it would take a minimum of 6 months to get one once I've ordered (paid for) it lol. I'll just keep an eye on reverb for a decent enough deal to pop up one day and accept that I'll never be able to try one in advance.

    Love the sound, want the amp! I really wish Mesa would make a big bottle/small wattage recto in the same spirit as this or the DSL20 - I truly think that’s where the Mesa design philosophy falls short, as much as I dig the sounds. I want a true, classic two-channel recto sound without being hamstrung by the 100w output. The EL84 mini recto is great for what it is, but loses some of the flavor.

    Hello Friend how are you. I'm contacting you because I have exactly the same setup as your (amp) recently acquired by me but I can't make it sound good according to my impression (nothing similar to the youtube videos and the general impression of the people) so (as you have the same equipment and you know a lot) I contact you to recommend some basic adjustment of the tone of each parameter (well specified) to guide me and conclude things (I am quite inexperienced in the world of tubes). I like to play Metal with a lot of gain and I use a Gibson Flying V and an Orange PPC 212 cabinet. Thanks and regards.

    I tested the fireball 100. I disliked the tone and it was too muddy. Compared it with the peavey 6505 and the peavey beat it by miles.

    • @SonicDriveStudio
      @SonicDriveStudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Muddy? Man, my 100 is very bright when I need it to be, even with the presence fairly low. For more definition and bit you just have to crank the treble and mids a bit.

    Why can’t you just give us one guitar and one mic? You’re always fitting your guitars and mics to fit a certain sound or whatever you’re trying to do. It takes away from what the amp is capable of. It’s an amp demo, not you showing off mixing abilities

    • @SonicDriveStudio
      @SonicDriveStudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The guitars are not processed fwiw. This is just how things are done on this channel. It's how I like it. There are plenty of channels out there who do things differently.
