Thanks for these explanations! Really simplifies the complex diagrams and confusing concepts.

    Thanks for the explanations!
I find these simple sketches a lot more helpful (and sometimes entertaining) for a basic understanding than the "perfect" ones at university which are jam-packed with information.

Thank you I was losing my mind, before understanding that S=Sy for unconfined

Thank you for this wonderful explanation. I got one question here. How do we determine the Specific Storage of a confined aquifer that has two episodes of releasing? As in the hydraulic head drops twice from two episodes of water release. Do we calculate the two Specific Storage separately and then average them or add them to get the final Specific Storage? Or should we get total drop in hydraulic head and cumulative water released in both episodes and calculate the Specific Storage?

I've found this site very helpful - www.aqtesolv.com/aquifer-tests/aquifer_properties.htm.
To answer your question, Ss=ρg(α+nβ). Look that equation up on the website I mentioned. All of the variables in this equation are not dependent on head decline, they are dependent on the properties of the aquifer, so the Ss in your case would be the same during both head declines. Ss can also be estimated based on typical values for different geologic materials which make up your aquifer, or you can estimate Ss from performing an aquifer test.

How do I calculate the water lost when the water tale drops 5m? Anybody know of a video or website I can check?

By "water lost", do you mean water you've pumped from the well?
