Mr. Lemieux, I came across the below 1969 Special Report with Mike Wallace. Although it is mostly about Bill Graham, there is some rare GD playing live at the Fillmore East.
I wish that there would be a “Without A Net 2” meaning a second grouping of super premium offerings from the same period as the first one. Obviously from the “peak Dead” timeline towards the end of Brent’s time. That is just such a great recording of the best moments of that period and there’s got to be so much more. It was mastered so well and I assume that has something to do with it besides the great playing. So it could be more best picks rather than whole shows, which are still great but I always come back to Without a Net over and over and it’s always so good. Wouldn’t that be great though??? I would be so stoked and lots of other people would be too. 💀
I say release entire shows from 87(?) and 88 through summer 90 but perhaps only put them in sets as far as the venue on the same tour. Obvious example, for me, would be the last 3 of Brent's shows but I'd prefer all the shows to be sold individually similar to how the Europe 72 shows had been. Entire tours aren't cheap for me but I hate missing releases or tickets for shows. I'd buy each release but a run at a time. Best of releases would be better suited for late 93-summer 95. Just my 2 cent piece.
Dave or anyone, does anyone know who was singing background vocals in Monkey and the Engineer? I need to listen to the other songs again to see if anything was said but I don't remember seeing a name in the CD literature. Definitely sounds like a lady singing.

Dave- can you please give some serious thought to presenting the concerts selected in the song order they were performed and without chunks of other concerts mixed in. I think the reason a lot of us keep buying more and more releases is because we want to enjoy the experience of yet another Dead concert. I'm sure that when you listen to these shows you probably listen to a concert in its entirety--not jumping back and forth between them. I guess you are trying to fit things in a way to maximize the music on a disc, but I really think it's a mistake to give so little regard to the original song order and the listening experience of the customers who are buying these CDs to try to experience these concerts.
If we have the order listed, then if we have a multi-disc player that allows it we can program the order played. I'd rather have the music than not but just having the order listed would be fine. I had bought one of the last Deadbases that was released at some point after summer 95 but so many shows from the 60s hadn't had setlists or just partials. I tried to download or access a more modern one some years back now but it wouldn't open. 🤷♂️
Dear Dave- So I've got Your Picks Vol. 43 in my hands and CD player. Cool music.... BUT... I ask you, sir--is this how YOU listen to these shows? The first 9 songs of 11/2/69, then the 5 songs from 12/26/69, then 4 songs from 11/2, then 11 songs from 12/26?? If yes, then I don't feel you really appreciate the experience of live Dead--how each show is a unique event and piece of musical art, how each show has a rhythm and a story all its own. (This is WHY so many of us spend thousands of dollars buying these very shows on CD when we are content with just getting the best studio releases from other artists we love.) If this is NOT how you would listen to these shows, and you do enjoy and appreciate listening to a show as it was performed, then you are not really respecting the rest of us who want to listen to the shows in that way but don't have the privilege of access to GD's vaults. You make great choices of shows-- just let us listen to them as Jerry intended please. It's doable. Every single box set release does it. Thanks!
