"We talked to one of the sales reps." That is where all your problems begin and end. Like you I have been a timeshare owner for over ten years. The major difference is I bought my two timeshares from previous owners who wanted to just get rid of them for almost nothing but the transfer fee. My wife and I have always made it a point never to fall for the "update meeting" they try to steer you toward each year when you get to your timeshare. All timeshare owners or potential owners should make a point of watching the movie, "Glengarry Glen Ross" a few days before you head for your timeshare vacation. When you meet that timeshare salesman try to guess is this Jack Lemmon, Ed Harris, Al Pacino, Alec Baldwin or God forbid, Kevin Spacey?

You didn't talk to the sales reps, THEY talked to YOU! If they told you that wolverines make good house pets, would you buy one?

These are Platinum members who purchased several times over several years, so built trust. How many rely on the ethics of the real estate agent when purchasing a house. You can't do that in timeshare. Some of these agents are professional liars, one earned $2.4 million a year, admitting in a lawsuit he filed that he up-sold people by creating problems or reasons. What about those who are suffering from dementia? I have heard from more in this population than when I served on an ombudsman board, advocates for patients in nursing home. One female, age 75, was switch back and forth five times beginning with the agent earning $2.4 million. She liquidated her entire $350,000 annuity, clearly suffering from an age-related condition. Among the people who have reached out for help, a detective who worked economic crimes under cover, two private investigators, a contract specialist for Consolidated Edison, a PhD in criminology, an ICE agent with an MS in criminal justice, and a host of other MBAs attorneys and medical doctors. What chance the vulnerable?

Timeshare ownership is being a “part owner” in a real estate investment. Before becoming “part owner” in any real estate, hire a lawyer. There are NO lawyers who will advise you to invest in a timeshare, unless they work for the timeshare. You provided every detail of your personal finances to strangers who wanted to get money from you. What did you expect?

These are unsecured loans. That is why the interest rate is so high. The loans are not underwritten. You have to buy the same day or the glorious opportunity is lost forever. What attorney can you get the same day?

All these video's are great learning experiences. Never sign on the dotted line, take your time, don't allow someone to rush to sign any documents, don't be fooled by it's now or never because this deal will never be this low ever again, do lots research on the internet first, check with the BBB, say you want to discuss this with your attorney first(even if you don't have one), & always ask lots of questions???

I was approached to buy a timeshare in Gatlinburg until they told me how much the yearly maintenance fee was I was considering it. What they were charging for a yearly insurance they called it but it was basically a maintenance fee I could bring my entire family to the Mts. and stay in a very nice Hotel Two times for just one year of their Fee. The guy trying to sell it to me had gotten so belligerent that we just walked out of the interview when I told him they were ripping people off with the Maintenance fee...........They could make a Mint just giving you the Condo or Timeshare and just let you pay the Maintenance fee every year

One of the problems is that people do not go there thinking they want a time share. Someone at their hotel promised them a lot to listen to the presentation. Then they are lied to until they think it is a good idea. They did not allow us to read the contract. If we did we would have not signed it

Hi there interesting video thank you very much me and my wife go to Tenerife a lot and want to know while we will come across these people who say they work for diamond resorts so what they do they give you A scratchcard and depending on the price depends on where you have to go to get them but as we found out if you scratch off say a bottle of wine or an iPad that’s right the only way you can get these items is by going to one of their locations in Tenerife and what should only take around about 90 minutes we found out we were sitting down for four hours okay don’t get me wrong the actual sales guys they’re really really friendly until we told him at our bank card and credit cards are back at the hotelThen the mouth we were given it was absolutely disgusting and vulgar.

Diamond resorts timeshare is difficult to make a reservation, few available, then after using points additional fee due to "affiliate". Initial purchase of contract, complete loss of money, annual fees are often same or more then directly online, same resort, area. Transition process to leave Diamond Resort, is $1,000 plus loss of points saved or any future reservation. Trapped.

As I sat through a sales pitch in Orlando, a real gem of an offer only 22K and hidden lifetime maintenance fees and increases...I googled the properties and found a similar one for basically free, an owner desperate to unload it, I showed the salesman and at the 90 minute mark I said give me the Universal Studio tickets I was promised and I left. Sat through many of these over the years, they started hitting me up when I was on Spring break during college 😄

Anyone who buys into this stuff has absolutely lost their minds. NEVER buy direct. Always purchase on an open market if you feel you need to have it.

I don't understand WHY you would take the time out of your vacation to talk to these "people". They must have offered you something. Right? You and your wife were begging to be scammed. I'm so sorry this happened to you.

I most definitely don’t take time out of my vacation to be irritated with sales people! Everytime they vacationed they got caught up in a presentation. Never once did they even look at their financial portfolio. The sales people shouldn’t be able to sleep at night! Legal scammers!

Stick with Disney Vacation Club, Marriott, Hilton...and Westgate.
Stay away from the others. I own timeshares at Westgate and Disney and have for the past 21 years and have had no issues.

This guy is the definition of a salesman’s wet dream. How can you be this gullible? When someone tells you something, why take it for granted, why not do your own research first......sadly people like this will only realise they’ve been taken once they’re flat broke. I have little sympathy as educating yourself is free.

    • @ireneparker8995

Others "this gullible" include a detective who worked economic crimes undercover, a medical doctor, two attornies, a PhD in Criminology, an ICE agent with a masters in criminology, two private detectives, a contract specialist for Consolidate Edison who said, "How many times have you bought a house or car and relied on the ethics of the agent." What chance has the vulnerable?
