We hope you all have a great week!
Derek & Brandon Fiechter Thank you about your job !
I'm Roman :)
If you're Welsh, and have a DNA test that finds a large percentage of Southern European ancestry, especially from the Rome, Italy area, don't be shocked. Wales was a Roman colony, and after the legions pulled out, the areas that successfully resisted the Saxon invaders still have that blood. You're a Roman.
I would say they are like modern Italians, not fully blooded Romans but there is still a considerable fraction of Roman blood flowing through their veins.
I like your job do you want to participate in game developement?
Derek & Brandon Fiechter I am so impressed by your work as a world history teacher, do you mind if I share you link to several teaching history sites I belong to. Looking forward in buying your CD and ask if I can have permission to use your work in my class. We already use a number of these pictures including all of Thomas Cole's Empire series in class to analyze.

Battle Music & Epic Music: "Neh"
*ROMAN* Battle Music & *ROMAN* Epic Music: "Now that's what I'm talkin' about"
Lets be honest.
No one could stop the romans at their military peak.
Not even mongolians.
Did the Romans ever meet armies of mounted archers with compound bows? I don't believe so.
Parthians, Sasanids (Rome's rival in its later era) and the Huns.
The Parthians only got Crassus due to his ridiculous incompetence, never managed to win a war and lost the entire Mesopotamia (including their capital) 3 times against them
The Sasanids (same area but bigger) were kinda on par with the remnant of the Empire (aka Byzantines wich is a name given very recently in history) and failed against the muslim while the ERE kept Anatolia and Greece, falling almost 8 centuries later
The Huns acted as a piston pushing numerous germanic population into Roman territory, they themselves were in fact threatening, they lost anyways but the symptoms of their presence crippled the WRE
Do not underestimate the testudo, nor their armor, they use steel not cardboard like in Hollywood movies full of Legolas shooting RPGs
I would have liked to see Alexander the Great take on Rome. We know that the legion could beat a phalanx, but the Greeks that they fought weren't using the combined arms strategy that made Alexander so effective
@@peterroberts7832 Alexander would have lost. The legions did fight his model of phalanx after Alexander's death, when the Romans started to fight the Diadochi (macedonian generals that divided the empire after the death of Alexander). The thing is that the phalanx was too reliant on cavalry and it had to fight on a leveled plain, or gaps would have formed in the formation, which would allow the centurions to lead their highly mobile troops right into the middle of the enemy formation (just like it happened during the battle of Asculum, in 280 BC). You see, the phalanx served merely as an impenetrable forest of spears that would keep the enemy locked in place, while Alexander sent his elite Companion cavalry in to deal the killing blow. The legions are however, too highly disciplined to be routed by a cavalry charge or to break under the strain of the phalanx. The legionaries are also capable of deflecting the sarissas of the macedonian phalanx, and once you get past those, it is game over, frankly. Besides, they would likely use their own cavalry (consisting of troops sent by the people under the control of the Empire, like Caesar's Germanic cavalry) to counter the Companions. Ok, Alexander was a brilliant strategist and he might outwit the Roman commander, but if we are talking about a Legion under the leadership of a great Roman Emperor or even General, he doesn't really have the necessary tools to defeat a Legion, especially one from the golden era of the Empire.
@@peterroberts7832 A Legion after the Marian Reforms and especially after the reforms of Augustus would easily trash a phlanx. The Romans were also at best in terms of army organisation (the Legion effectively formed the basis of modern military divisions, battalions, companies ect.), and Roman Auxiliary cavalry would probably beat Companion shock cavalry (wich was better at fighting infantry).

TBH this is actually pretty incredible music. It's all very atmospheric and masterfully composed, and better yet, most of the songs have distinct flavors that dovetail perfectly with what they're supposed to be about. The drumroll of "The Colosseum" captures the tension of gladiator combat, "The Roman Empire" captures the haunting grandeur of half-remembered antiquity, and of course "Battle March" is quite fittingly martial. "Pax Romana" is my favorite of them all.

Latin, the language of ancient Rome, is the mother of Romance languages, the most beautiful languages in the world:
Magnitudo Populi Romani in aeternitatem latura sit.

La grandeur de Rome perdurera pour toute l'éternité.
