I am using a GreenStalk tower for the first time this year. My bottom level is peppers. Second level is green bush beans, third level is yellow bush beans, fourth level is more peppers, and my top level has micro tomato plants. So far, it looks really great and I am thrilled with its progress.
That sounds perfect! I bought a GreenStalk but won't be able to set it up til next season. I planned to put herbs and strawberries and micro tomato plants in. I didn't even consider regular pepper and bush bean plants! Thought they were too large. This changes my plans for the better! Good luck with your garden!
Great video. I used your method to fill in the same color grow tower. This year I am growing basil and culentro on the first layer, followed by tomatoes ( and experimenting with a cucumber plant should be interesting) . The next layer has peppers, beets and tarragon. The bottom level has onions. All the layers has one pocket with marigolds. I highly recommend the greenstalk tower if anyone is thinking of getting one. 🥒🌶🍅
I have two GreenStalks - got them this year - and I absolutely love them. Everything grows better in them. I have peppers, dwarf tomatoes, herbs, strawberries, eggplant, okra and lots of flowers. I even discovered a bird's nest with 3 tiny eggs in one of the pockets! Even the birds love them!!!

One year I used a rubbermaid tote to mix my soil, but you could also use a cardboard box. That is so cool, that you can grow peppers in the tower. I've only seen people grow herbs and flowers or strawberries. Thanks for sharing 😊
I just did this yesterday with my GreenStalk and one of my raised beds. I wore a mask though because I didn’t want to breathe in all those little particles. I’m in my third year with the GS. I have tiny Tim tomatoes, lettuce underneath, peppers, petunias, squash, thyme, strawberries, and nasturtiums that just keep blooming! I’m going to transplant some more tomatoes so I’ll have a succession like you both recommend! Some things grow better than others in the GS so it’s always and adventure! Lol

I just planted a pepper tower on Friday! I interplanted them with basil and planted a tomato plant on the top with Salvia and inpatients. Great informational video.

Hi Earthy Artist - it's perfect for peppers. I have 2 hot pepper plants in ground. they are not doing as well as I would like. can I replant them in big container. I usually put 3 in a container and they always did well. this year I decided to put them in the ground.

Great video. I have two of these. In the spring they are great for lettuce and spinach. Right now I'm having a devil of a time with what to put in them. I have mints, which take over that entire level even if you plant in one pocket, basil, celery, Swiss chard, some second year strawberry plants which struggle,and some smaller smaller tomato and pepper varieties. That said, I really feel like I have underutilized the system
Hello Fred - sounds like you have a lot going on in yours - you can grow just about anything in them that doesn't get too large. Greens, herbs, strawberries, peppers, dwarf tomatoes, flowers are a few suggestions. Make sure to keep them well watered and feed every 7-10 days to keep production going. How do you like hoselink? I have a cheap accessory linking thing I got from AMZ. I like the one you guys are using because it also has a quick connect for the actual hose to the spigot...hoses tend to fuse onto the spigots (which btw if you use anti-seizing lubricant it's supposed to prevent that--I'm trying it now).

Hi Mimi - lettuce is great in the cooler months - once it gets above 75-80, your lettuce will start to bolt, leaves get bitter, it flowers and goes to seed. If it's hot where you live, some good heat tolerant greens options are kale and chard. @@CaliKim29 For the beginning gardener, This is misinformation and not true, The reason your peppers have shallow roots is because they are in a very small container with limited soil for nutrient supply. Most container gardeners will put 4 pepper plants in a 15 gallon container, you have less than a gallon of soil per plant. Spacing is what gives the plant "adequate" sunlight and not shaded from other plants, or in your case the shading from other plants and the planter container itself blocking adequate sunlight.. Almost every pepper seed packet recommends a minimum of 12" spacing and optimal of 18" spacing. There is a reason for these recommendations. You "can plant" any way you chose, but doing so significantly under the recommendation WILL mean you sacrifice on production.
Many ways to garden, do what works best for you. Gary has harvested many, many peppers in the Green Stalk and this video is intended to share how gardeners with limited space can still grow peppers. By all means, if you don't like this method, grow peppers however you prefer.

How do you do a tower with the harsh winds? Ours can get up to 40-50mph at times. I’d love to do one but am afraid it would fall over.

That tower doesn't hold enough soil for that many pepper plants. You will be lucky to harvest a single pepper from each plant.
