Hello. After decades of woodcarving I discovered colored pencils 2 years ago and really love drawing birds with them. Then, last week I discovered pastel pencils at Blick art store and purchased a 36 pack of FaberCastell Pitt pastel pencils and Pastelmat paper. It was quite a change but I love them (besides the dust, but the trade off is worth it!). I’ve learned sooooo much from your TH-cam videos and always “Like” them and am a recent subscriber. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and providing wonderful content! Bob😊
Yes meeden products are available in the USA. I have a 5 drawer one from US Art Supply that looks like your original set but the drawers glide like the Meeden. I've had it for 5 years and the drawers still glide smooth as silk.
Just a little FYI, back in the day, we would use beeswax at our antique shop. You slide the beeswax back-and-forth on the drawer edge and it slides so much better.😊❤ just some info from grandpa
I use similar drawers for all of my pencils. I used red felt and double-sided adhesive tape to line the bottom of all the compartments for extra cushioning and to keep pencil from sliding around on the wood. I like the outer color finish on those Meeden drawers.
I like the zip up big pencil cases, I can see all the colours and flip through them, I do have a different case for each brand because the pencils I like are all different textures and colour ranges.
I have 4 units probably 24 total drawers holding all my sets that fit, my other pieces and my pans sit on another shelf. It's amazing how much we accumulate yet find we still need that certain color other than working on a limited palette and by just lighting or darken it with white or black to adjust.
Have A 10 drawer version that I keep all my various coloured pencils in. Best investment I ever made. All my pastels are in two large storage cases & easy to find. Had loads of tins & this is so much better!
I had bought a couple sets of those cheap ones too! Terrible. I got rid of them and just keep my colored pencils in large cups now. Not ideal. I'll be thinking about the new type. Thank you.
merci pour cette nouvelle video. J'ai les 1ers tiroirs que vous montrez et je n'ai aucun probleme pour les ouvrir. J'y range les panpastels et les batonnets et j'ai collé 3 modules de 3 tiroirs entre eux. Ca me donne une petite armoire à couleur. Les crayons sont classés par couleur dans des pots à confiture assez lourds pour rester stable et posés sur une desserte à côté de ma table à dessin. Je n'ai plus de place pour d'autres tiroirs pour les crayons.
I have the exact same one you got! It's a good box but I store only my pastel sticks there. I keep all my pencils in their own original boxes to keep track of colors I need to replace and I also think that things looks more organized visually when they are in their original box or separated by brand since there are not 800 colors of each brand but round 60, I don't really see a point in separating them by color. I also prefer to keep them organized by brand so I go straight for the brand that I need for a specific objective. It's really only a matter of preference or what works for us and this is just my personal view on the subject, thank you for sharing yours!
Thanks for this video Jason. I am just now starting my pastel journey and I’m trying to get my supplies organized. Now I’m starting to swatch my colors. Do you have any tips or videos on how you do this? How do you store the swatches? This seems like a very useful thing to do for choosing the best color for a painting and I want to do it well the first time.
I literally just got those exact drawers for my soft pastels. They suck to open and close.... I was able to arrange my colors in a way that I can just keep one drawer out for all the colors I would use together anyways... for my pencils I use a pencil case.
does each drawer take approx 50 pencils each ,,I realize the thickness of the pencils will make a diference but i am trying to count them on your screen ,,thank you Jason wonderful tutorial

OMG... 😂😂😂 I know you were talking about colored pencils; and I am aware of the brand, "Conté á Paris...." But when I heard you pronounce "Conté" all I heard was, "Cunty." 🍑 🌮 I almost laughed out of my chair. Yes, of course, Conté, Conté. Where the heck was my brain?!? Im so embarrassed. 🙈

Great tip!
I use these exact drawers for my soft pastel sticks, sorted by color. I keep my pencils in several different canvas pencil rolls.
I have the Meeden set of ten drawers and put my pastel pencils in them by brands. I ordered another set to put my coloured pencils in.
I use similar drawers for all of my pencils. I used red felt and double-sided adhesive tape to line the bottom of all the compartments for extra cushioning and to keep pencil from sliding around on the wood. I like the outer color finish on those Meeden drawers.
That's a great idea!
I like the zip up big pencil cases, I can see all the colours and flip through them, I do have a different case for each brand because the pencils I like are all different textures and colour ranges.
I have the Meeden sets and used candle wax on the bottoms and sides of the drawers. It's worked pretty well. I'm in the USA where humidity varies.
great idea I will do that
I received the 10 drawer set for Christmas! Drawers slide easily! I am really happy with this make.
me too so far

they are great

There are various sellers supplying this same design in all ranges of quality. I have some that look like your old ones but work fine.
yes I think i was unlucky - but they are 2 different brands and both bad

What about just storing them in mason jars? Is storing your pencils in these drawers going to preserve them longer or is it a matter of preference?
I can just see the colours more easily when they are not jumbled together in jars
Bit of French chalk might help.
The draws are just not made well at all.
OMG... 😂😂😂

🍑 🌮

Yes, of course, Conté, Conté.
Where the heck was my brain?!?
Im so embarrassed. 🙈
I guess you could choose to use the entire name (Conté á Paris) instead of the nickname, (Conté.)
