@@Sherry-s6o I use kanban list/board (view as list or view as board) for presentation and that is enough and very clear for my project as each package has a process flow/stages that it has to go through to finish line. Before I try to explain, viewers can already grasp the message/story I want to tell them about the project status. My presentation can be really brief typically as Workflowy has done the job clearly for the audiences. At this time, I don't have any idea what other presentation mode I need WF to provide. Note; to add minimal color on my Workflowy kanban list, I use user CSS.
I love Workflowy and I like this, but is there any future plan to allow sorting these dates chronologically? Since the actual day of the week (e.g. Mon., Tue., etc.) is always forced into the date (no options yet for the user to change that format ) we still can't sort chronologically. Any bullet dated 'Thursday' will always sort before one on 'Wednesday', not after it, like it should. That's a big deal to me, and I suspect others as well. Thanks.
Thanks for your video with date tricks! Is it possible to change the default workflowy date format into something standard e.g. ddd dd/mm/yyyy ??? Can it be user-defined or system date depented ????
Really wish we can click the date tag and start searching node with the same date tag just like the #tag, been waiting for this since the fist day of the date function came out.
Hi Ermude10, just searching for the month would give your all tagged items for that month - the second search doesn't work but is definitely a good idea that I'll pass along to the team.
The search for is:completed only appears to retrieve tasks that have a date tag attached. Is there not a system completed date that is added automatically when marked as complete, or do we have to tag an action with today and then complete it for is:complete to work?
Thanks a lot for the great product! One suggestion regarding dates that can simplify overview of the items. Is it possible to interpret words like "today", "this week" etc. as a date? For example, if I create bullet "tasks today" I expect that it will interpret "today" as a current date and search by date will work for this bullet. Or if I add "tasks this week" I expect that it interprets accordingly based on the current calendar week. Now I need to add explicit dates to inform Workflowy that this bullet belongs to "this week". For example, I type "tasks this week Dec 12 - Dec 18" and then I see in the bullet extra info that clutters an overview: "tasks this week Mon, Dec 12, 2022 - Sun, Dec 18, 2022".
i use logseq as well and it can let me schedule a date for the future and it will show up in that dates journal in the future. Anything like that in workflowy?
What about to have a Date Picker with a calendar implemented, like it was suggested many years ago by rawbytz at the Medium site? Is this still considered by the team?
Very nice feature, but could be awesome if there is an option to have localized date format. For example here in Bulgaria the format is dd.mm.yyyy or dd.mm.yy: - dd - day of the month with leading zero. - mm - the number of the month with leading zero. - yy and yyyy is the two or four digits of the year. It is too difficult for me to wrap my mind arround the American way for dates (starting with the month).
Hi Brad, you're right, my mistake! While that's currently not possible, the feature is still in beta so changes are being considered - I'll forward you request to the team.
Great question Mark, I tried to build that search and it seems we have a glitch with that particular search - I'll forward the issue to the team and hopefully get it sorted soon.
@@workflowy Thank you so much. May I ask another question? If I make a @today tag, this doesn’t automatically do the same as clicking ‘today’ in the search field drop down does it? Is there a way I can get a @tag or #tag to do that? Thanks again.
@@karmmark888 my mistake, you can actually perform the search you mentioned 'today - 14 days'. As for the@today tag - no, unfortunately they are separate things and there's currently no way to do that but I'll pass this idea along to the team.
In Holland we have the DD/MM/YY(YY) format, so it is confusing to use the MM/DD format. I am considering using this, but I also like my own method of DD-MM in a Year bullet, for referencing life-events.
I would say not just in Holland, but in Latin America, Europe, Asia, and the whole world outside of the USA uses DD/MM/YYYY :) Though, the iso format YYYY-MM-DD is even better than both methods because the dates are sorted chronologically when you sort them alphabetically. I wish WorkFlowy implements this format soon.
Hi Martin and Max, we're still working on polishing the dates feature and the ability to choose a different date format is definitely something we're aware of that a lot of users want.
Hi Marissa, maybe starting with a calendar list (just the dates in a big list, possibly nested under their respective month) and then making a daily hour template - a list where you have each hour or however long your preferred time block is as a bullet (8AM, 9AM, 10AM and so on) then you could mirror that daily hour template into the new current day, then detach the mirror and add your items under the time block that you want. So then you could just search for 'today' and expand the today bullet and you would see you hour template with your items nested under the time you want. Alternatively, you can also use time with the date tags, so if you have dates activated, you could just type something like 'today at 3pm' and Workflowy will create the tag with the hour for you, and you could then search for either the day, the hour or both and Workflowy would find the tagged item.
One simple thing is missing "the day before yesterday" I needed this so many times, and ended up figuring out the date and writing the date. Same with "the day after tomorrow".
It really needs to be YYYYMMDD or to spell out the name of the month. Since we Americans are so backward on dates. (I learned this in surveying class in 1973.
The mirror feature is amazing and helped me move from Roam. Request the team to consider bringing presentation mode as well.

Just found out about workflowy. This feels like the most natural way to organize thoughts.

Agree! Also extending the natural language search would be awesome. Then we could search for everything in June, or next X weeks, etc.
Those are both great suggestions - I'll forward those to the rest of the team.

HI Uri, one way to do that would be to search for a range that has a relatively old start date like 1/1/80 - yesterday
