I thought it was important to note that the storage facility told me 3 different stories about the unit I purchased. That originally someone else bought the unit, then the original owners paid that morning followed by that unit was never for sale. It seems as if there is no repurcusions for false advertisement or bluntly scamming the buyers. In conclusion I believed they had intention to sell the original unit to the other "buyer" that placed the bid before me and had someone else bid on the unit they were going to sell them the 10x10 unit that I ended up with. In fact there was never any photos for this furniture unit in any of the other listings that they had for sale. Moving forward, I am not one of those "Social Justice Warriors" however people need to be held responsible for their actions. 2023 Will be a FUN year.
Unfortunately this kind of thing does seem to happen more than it should, keep an eye out for that unit to go up for auction again soon and if it does, report it. If indeed the owner came in and paid his bill and it goes to default again the processes starts over, so if the unit goes up for auction in less then 3-4 months you know they where trying to do a scam in hopes to get more money for the unit.
Your state has an auction board that oversees auctions including online in your state. They will investigate a complaint. Auctioneers have to have a license and the states love revoking them or fining them.

Super Long time viewer and rarely do we ever see Taco this upset. Sucks man. I’ve seen you go through some crazy van/car troubles and not get this upset. Thanks for sharing. Good thing you had the pictures of the actual unit you were bidding on. That person sounds like a SCAMMER. How can these people live with themselves. Karma will get them, but sadly they probably don’t care either way.
I would definitely report that facility to the better business bureau along with the police. In dealing with the facility itself I would contact the " higher ups" to make sure that they know they are being reported after I was sure I got my money back. You might save someone else the distress you are now dealing with.Taco.
What a bunch of jerks! CALL the Better Business Bureau and report them. There must be some type of a storage unit auctioneer site where you can report crooked deals like this! Always get the name of people you talk to, but she probably would have lied anyway. If you paid with credit card, REPORT it to your credit card company and get the transaction cancelled! Good luck! ❤
Sorry this happened Taco Stacks. My brother has had the same problems with on-line bidding on storage units. Just not right for them to have done you that way and definitely not good business practices. I hope you get your refund. What is our world coming to? Bad enough we have phone scammers, internet scammers and other kinds of scamming. Best of luck to you Taco!
This is why over the years I've become a '2 strike' person, not a 3 strikes and you're out person. It's not worth all the energy you waste dealing with the confusion and stress. Also if a so-called friend dumps me in the river once, I'll overlook it; but twice, it's over. There'll be no 3rd strike.
When they said someone else bought the unit, you should have said, yes, that was me. I hope you got your refund back. Don’t forget to claim all your mileage for the year on your taxes!
Hard to be a honest person in a sometime dishonest world, but don't let em drag you down, rise above and use your misfortune as a warning for others. Good Man Stacks!
Sounds like that lady made a huge stuff up and hasn't got the guts to own it. That is just totally incompetent. You look rather ticked off, give them hell baby boy, they need a slap back into reality. You are too honest for that crap to happen to you. I hope it can be resolved without too much more hassle. Goodluck, kiddo.
They knew exactly what they were doing. Scammers talk fast, change the story often, try to confuse you. They figure you will get so frustrated and will give up, that unit with the mattress was never for sale. Good for you Taco, just watch your account and make sure you are refunded!
That company would never again be on my list of good companies to buy from. They should have to repay you your gas money too, it’s so expensive now!! Hope your day gets better!
Wow! I don’t understand people sometimes. Hopefully it will get around not to deal with these folks any longer. Please keep in mind that Karma can be a angry monster. May it come back to them twofold. Keep doing what your doing, love your posts!
First, they should have admitted their error (if it was an error) immediately instead of trying to cover it up. We all make errors and an apology can go a long way when sincere. Second, refund your money immediately. Did they really think you were not going to notice the unit being totally different? Was it a scam, was it not? It is hard to tell. Our current society has gotten comfortable with scamming others. Certainly I as a business owner would have refunded gas money on as an apology in addition to the amount you paid. Third, do not use this company again and leave appropriate reviews concerning the issue. I also suggest filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau as they will investigate. I currently just did that myself about a bad roof replacement. They are in the middle of the investigation.
Similar thing happened to me at a Uhaul facility in Philly. Drove 2 hrs with a trailer in a rainstorm. For the clerk to tell me that the unit was already gone. The facility manager never answered calls, or returned messages. The auction sight was very apologetic, and refunded all payments…still didn’t get back the 6 hrs of my life, plus the helper I had to pay…
I've seen other storage unit buyers on TH-cam have similar things happen to them and a lot of the time it's the storage company doing a bait and switch or positioning items in the unit in such a way as to make it look more valuable than it really is. Some of those buyers end up reporting the storage facility to the corporate office as well as getting with the auction companies to complain. Some have posted on YELP as well as reported to the BBB and some other agencies but hopefully you'll get a good unit from a really good reputable facility. Stay safe Taco and keep on looking for that special buy or deal.
Seems to he happening a lot. Not necessarily the same as you but dishonesty. You handled this very well, no screaming or cussing them out. My blood pressure would have been sky high. Respect
Hello Taco you should call the local Police and the District Attorneys office also you can call the Attorney Generals office and file a complaint. It’s highly poSsible that there maybe other people that have been scammed! Congratulations on the big 300,000!
I’ve been scammed badly twice in a short time. I’m sorry this mess happened to you. Customer service doesn’t exist. Good business ethics are gone. Buying anything is a big risk. Have a better day. 😊❤
I wouldn't deal with units/auctions, as they have complete control over them and they can put whatever trash they want in them and swap out any actual goods. Unless its maybe "corporate" owned and they want to dispose of them quickly, that may be probably the only smaller, medium risk. And if they don't have any maintenance workers that day to dispose of goods or to check.. If its local/mom pop, i would not trust it at all lol. Corporate owned, they don't care for goods, as they just want to trash all and rent out quick.
There’s got to be a state regulatory office for these places. I think it would be worth a call to complain there. I’d start with my state’s Consumer Protection Division. If they’re not, they’ll know who. The reason it’s worth it is if someone else has prior bad dealings, along with you and conceivably the next person, they’ll be looked at. And you’re right, find the reputable people in the business and stick with them! If you can’t find any, then don’t “play.”
So sorry about how you were treated. Especially since you went out of your way with your efforts to clarify the situation prior to bidding. Take care Taco Stacks. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
How the heck you kept your cool. And as you said all over the world its happening all folk do is try and screw you over. Its an wicked world we're living ing now God knows what the answer is.
People can make mistakes, and maybe this started as an honest mistake in which photos and discriptions got mixed up. But the people of the facility should have admitted their mistake. Now they just lied and made a big mess of things. And you are right when you say buying online, storage units or other things, is risky. You do not see what you buy, and the buyer and seller never meet, so it is an easy medium for scammers and frauds to make easy money. But also online there are more honest people than scammers. I am glad you get your money back, but all the time you have lost you don't get back. But I am sure there will be some great units in the future, waiting to be bought by the wonderful Taco Stacks.
Usually I would say this is an honest mistake however it is all thrown out the window when I talked to the manager an hour before the unit sold and asked them numerous questions in regards to this unit. I mentioned the auction ID # as well as the listing description and photos and they assured me the unit was what I had thought it was. It wasn't until after I showed up that they tell me a different story. Had I not called beforehand I could understand this being a mistake.
That's rotten that they tried to scam you! Terrible about the waste of time and gas, not to mention the agita involved. Before you even opened the unit up, you can see that the locks were in a different position between the photo you bid on and your photo when you were unlocking the unit. You run into all kinds, I guess. At least they didn't try and convince you that you weren't seeing what you were seeing! Besides not getting a full unit, you got one filled with old wooden furniture - firewood. You have a fireplace in your house. Some thrown away furniture, chopped/sawed into smaller bits might be an idea for fuel. Thanks again for the video - it sure was different! Have a great weekend!
Wow, I sure hope you get this straightened out. Please take notes of who you spoke with, times, date (s), it’s sad in this day that they try & scam people! But on a happy note, congratulations on 300k, so very well deserved 🎉
Taco, WOW! There is no excuse for this totally immoral behavior, but unfortunately this seems to be the way many businesses are being run these days. The only motivator is to get the money and it doesn't matter how or who gets hurt in the process! It has become a 'Caveat Emptor' world that we are living in. I'm so sorry that it had to happen to such a guy as good and fair as you are. Ethics? what's that!? That's only for suckers.😠
I am sorry you got scammed. I said before that youtubers who do nothing but buy lockers posted about "seeding" as they call it. You see a unit and bid on it. you won! You drive there and lift the door. Look at all those boxes. Problem is, when you grab the first big box , it is empty. So is the second, the third, the 20th box. Someone has went into the locker from the storage facility and took whatever they wanted and left the boxes so the unit looked fuller. A youtuber went back up to the front desk and showed them their pictures of the first couple of dozen boxes being totally empty. They said that was a scam to show pictures of boxes to make the unit look full and to sell the unit that had already been picked through. Basically there was nothing left but bags of clothing. They got a refund but posted this so others would be aware of what storage locker companies were doing. Seeing a unit in default and cutting the lock. Going through the storage unit to take out what they wanted for free. Then they snap pictures and post it online to a buyer who might be as savvy. I believe the filed a complaint with their state attorney generals office about three companies who did this as common practice. I posted that in Ohio for my city, they literally had 10 by 20 foot lockers with 2 bags and a half a dozen boxes in it. WHO is going to rent that huge locker for a half a dozen things in it? No way. Someone has cut the lock off and took 90% of what they wanted and then snapped those pictures to sell the unit. No one will buy that so they advertise it as unsold and declare they threw away everything. It's a scam. Look at the pictures for some of these lockers. HUGE floor space is rented out for just a few things. One 10x20 had a rocking chair and a dryer in it and a dozen bags that you could clearly see was ripped open. scam. Oh and all these lockers have a starting bid of $5.00 and no one is bidding on any of them. So the word it out that they are scamming buyers.
I’ve had such mix ups too, but rarely. Usually the problem is that the staff attached the wrong photos to the listing that you saw on line. The other situation is that they take you to the wrong unit when you arrive. That is why you always check the numbered 1 time use serialized tag (not the padlock). Padlocks get re-used over and over. The wired tag gets destroyed when it is opened and usually has a factory printed sequential number, to prevent such errors. The Sharpie number is a bit sketchy. Once you show them the mis-match in contents or photos or that they opened the wrong unit for you, they will either take you to the correct unit or refund your cost and fees. Still sucks. On a good day it gets straighten out, while you are there. On a bad day, the contents you bought are already gone and the refund is all you get.
Sorry that they did that to you !! That was nothing but FRAUD All the Way Through !! You handled it with very mature matter and they just kept changing everything on you !! Is there anyone that you can go over there head about this problem !!!
What a scam, Taco! They definitely needed turning in…not all storage unit companies are equal. So sorry you got played. I would find out some way to make a real complaint all the way to the top of the company. That needs looking into for sure…😮
Jeez whizz they're even scamming auctions online now. What is this country coming to? I really hope you get your money back and glad you held your cool. 👍
So sorry tacos Taco stacks! Those people will get theirs back in the long run!! Don't buy any more units online and you won't run into this again!! Try to take this as lesson learned, but what a way to learn, so sorry!!

Good luck! ❤
The BBB of meaningless. It's nothing.
He said "whats going on?" Trying to get the door open. Well you gotta put your muscles into it there bud 💪
Good for you for not backing down and you making your voice heard.
The old saying goes...'fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice..shame on me.' 👍
Peace to you too. Yes. Scams look out is almost at any corner 👀 unfortunately Taco Stacks. Thanks for da experience
Congratulations on 300k🎊
Congrats on 300k!!! As for the scammers... may they suffer gallstone attack.
Taco you are a good example of “Grace under pressure” but sorry you had to go through all that.
First thing I noticed, you made it to 300k subscribers! Woohoo! Congratulations 🎊 on making your goal!
Sorry about the storage unit, that stinks.🤨😒😣😖🥺
Wow
Congratulations on 300k
Congrats on 300k, well done on calling out these dishonest people
Sounds like that lady made a huge stuff up and hasn't got the guts to own it. That is just totally incompetent. You look rather ticked off, give them hell baby boy, they need a slap back into reality. You are too honest for that crap to happen to you. I hope it can be resolved without too much more hassle. Goodluck, kiddo.
Wow that's absurd they were trying to brush you off like you were the one in the wrong. what a crappy situation to have to deal with.
Yep, find a reliable honest company & stick with them. Sorry you had such a hassle, but thanks for sharing & showing reality. Better luck next time 👍👍
They knew exactly what they were doing.
Congratulations on 300k ,well done… no one wants to see an angry taco,👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😟🇬🇧
So sorry you had to go thru all of this. What goes around DOES come around! Every time!
I'd be pissed too. All the online storage auctions I've seen in Northern California are full of junk and crap.
I am sorry that you had to go through all that. You are a very nice guy and I hate all the crazy scammers out there!!!
Great work standing up for Yourself
There’s got to be a state regulatory office for these places. I think it would be worth a call to complain there. I’d start with my state’s Consumer Protection Division. If they’re not, they’ll know who. The reason it’s worth it is if someone else has prior bad dealings, along with you and conceivably the next person, they’ll be looked at.
And you’re right, find the reputable people in the business and stick with them! If you can’t find any, then don’t “play.”
Not really the video subject I had in mind for you to celebrate 300k, that stinks. 😬😬 Congrats anyway bro! 👏
Call the police that is so horrible. You are truly amazing person taco
These people need to be prosecuted . Period.
I'm so sorry you were messed around by these no-users. Congratulations on your increase in subscribers, well done.
I am so glad , yah 300k.💙
So sorry about how you were treated. Especially since you went out of your way with your efforts to clarify the situation prior to bidding. Take care Taco Stacks. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
What on earth!!!!! What a mess!!!! I'd be so ticked off!!!!
300K! Good for you, Taco!
Sorry this happened to you :( Congratulations on 300k!
You are taking it way better than I would somebody would have got their ass cussed out.😂
That's terrible and it didn't even sound like they appolagised to you. Hope the sort your money out for this
Congratulations Taco Stacks 300k🎉🎊 that's awesome keep them videos coming love watching you & Salsa take care and stay safe love from Australia 🇦🇺🐨🦘❤️
Wow!!! Sorry this happened to you...Cross that storage place off the list....BUT! You made 300k....
