+Joris The second when she tried to turn it on, it was impossible to it to stay working properly. she should have put it directly in the bag for at least a good 24h and then try to turn it on.
One time I left my iPhone 3GS in the fridge ._. I was trying to get something out, while shopping was in the counter. So I put it down on the shelf in the fridge... Didn't wanna drop the eggs. Fished it out an hour later. No damage done :3
I know absolutely no one will see this, but those issues with the screen going purple after the drop is actually not damage to the screen it is damage to the logic board, which I know because after it was dropped it no longer recognize the Sim card
***** yeah. I have an iPhone 4S still on iOS 6 as my daily driver. It still is pretty fast. I got my 4S on iOS 6, but I imagine iOS 5 would be lightning fast on it
The purple line means that the screen connector has been damaged. It may work again after reseating (as suggests the sporadic "blue screen of death"), but it may as well be simply dead.
Thats true,, you never know. But just like that guy said "If that was my iPhone it would be completely shattered", I agree because that was more of a "Throw down flights of hard tiled stairs test" and that 4S only got dented from it? thats a WOW! because if I did that to my 4S (when I owned one) it would be a paperweight! but I have the 5S now and I dont plan on dropping it anytime soon, lol
my iphone was in a 15 ft deep pond for 5 and a half hours after an unfortunate fishing accident, ( i casted out and fell out of my jacket pocket ) but i took it home and put it in rice bag and 30 minutes later it came on, but wouldnt hold charge so i took the battery out and put it back in and now it works perfectly, using it today (:
And actually if they want a much more fair test, do that on a new iPhone 4S, not a dropped one, cause the dropped one probably had a deformed edge of screen and frame joint. Which let the water in to destroy everything.
lithium ion batteries do not get damaged from cold temperatures, their capacity simply reduces significantly and discharges slower when cold, hence the reason why the phone turned off, because it had false readings it was on low power and simply turned off. consider the battery capacity to reduce from ~97% to ~35% and a discharge rate of ~96% to ~15% when cold. in simple, when the battery is cooled below -10 C, it fails to "supply" enough "power" fast enough that the phone cannot operate.
guys there is no iphone battery can hold 3 days so you can't consider it not surviving in the last test of the washing machine so you need to try charging it first and then try to turn on on see if it survives or not
For those people who are complaining about the battery and the freezer: Batteries do not work in cold temputures. Like cars do not start in below freezing, as the battery is too cold
This hurt my heart. My iPhone 4s is legit my baby 😍😄😫 Just got it today and I'm so worried about dropping and cracking it. But I'm not because like I said its my baby 😄😄
Meagen Kasey they still make iphone 4s ? i remembered having one back in 2012, it was my best iphone ever. The 6 is kinda flimsy and hollow , a simple fall could dent the sides upon impact.
I have an iPhone 4s worried like you but someone swung on a lamp post and threw it out of my hands right into the road WHEN A CAR WAS COMING!!! I felt sick I wanted to cry but I said you have to pay for it if it's broken but everything's fine it didn't break or get ran over luckily I had a case on my iPhone my iPhone had a superman case if I had any other case I think it would of broken.
Why didn't you try to plug it in? And almost all of these tests are really unfair since you test stuff.. and then test something else... how do I know if my iPhone will survive in the oven when you freeze it down with the same iPhone? If one of these scenearios would happen it probably wouldn't happen after something else..
Incredible survival story of my ipod nano coming out of the washer unscathed but suffering extreme screen dimness after the dryer, it is still alive to this day
I think you can account for the battery going flat in the freezer to the phone searching for a signal. Id be interested to see what would happen if it was put in there with airplane mode enabled.
I guess it depends on how you drop it, my mother drops hers frequently without a case and has luckily survived so far with just a little cuff on the edges.
I have a black 4S and I swear its indestructible! I dropped it face down on tile nothing, sprayed it with a garden hose nothing, left it in a hot car in Tucson, nothing! What did crack the screen was I tripped and fell on something and landed on my phone. It was in my pocket.
Greg Cornes. Of yea. They break at the least expecting times. My frond yesterday shattered his iPhone 6 by dropping it on carpet with a glass screen protector. He was in class and it just fell out of his pocket.
Ever thought that maybe the battery was completely drained at the end? The phone had barely any battery at 5:15 and its WIFI and the display were still on when it was in the machine. Not surviving the wash machine is actually quite surprising judging by the fact that it fell down the stairs and was completely covered in water for some time.
My iphone 4 is pretty durable, first day of having it, it slipped out my pocket and went on a roller coaster water ride, security found it and turned it on whilst wet, so I can prove it was mine... It didn't work for a week, left it in rice, sort of worked almost all buttons were broken, Charged it on a Speaker dock thing and that somehow fixed it completely. It has been dropped many many times these years, and has been thrown around etc, no dents or cracks. Only damage was when I scraped it accidentally on my skateboard grip, but even that isn't even a major scratch. I don't even use a case or screen protector. The phone is just laggy and crashes on apps, it used to overheat, but not really anymore.
I say the same every time I buy a new iPhone and then a few months down the line I realise that it is a phone, an inanimate object - albeit an expensive one - and I should appreciate the design and use it instead of treating it like a newborn baby. I have a screen protector on mine and that's it. I've never dropped a phone and it has no scratches after months of use. Take care of it but also enjoy it.
This isn’t fair I was walking on the side walk and I tripped and my iPhone 4s completely shattered 3 years ago and it was about the height of the first drop here, but this thing can survive 2 stair falls!?
On top of lack of reception and the battery freezing, we also have a decrease in resistance due to the lower temperature. wattage= volts x amps, amps=volts/ohms. lower ohms on a static voltage leads to faster amp draw. Not very entertaining, and I didn't learn anything. 1/5 stars, but that's cause I'm biased towards destructivity.
Refrigerating batteries is a sure fire way to have them go to sleep. When I work outside in the cold, I have special heaters for my photographic batteries to keep them nice and warm and therefore, working.
For the wildcard, you should've done a test in both the washer and dryer. Sometimes, people forget their iPhones are in their pockets, and don't even care about them until they've realized they've been in the washer and dryer.
while the xperia z was just just washed under warm running water, this phone was actually submerged. They should do the submerssive test for the xperia z
I actually fell asleep one day with my iPhone 4s in my coat pocket while I was bundled under a heating blanket on a chair in my living room. I had went to use my furnace for the first time that season, only to have it break so I had to bundle up for a day but anywho, I fell asleep for a few hours and had completely forgotten about my phone. When I woke up later wondering where I had layer my phone I was terrified when I discovered it in my pocket because iI had it in a dual layer protective case and the whole thing was hot. When I tried to turn it on, a red exclamation point appeared and said that the phone was too hot to use at this time. I thought for sure I'd ruined it. Well the house was colder in the kitchen so I set it on the counter and left it to gradually cool off. I had also taken it out of the dual rubber and plastic case I had it in. When I went back less than an hour later, the phone powered on as normal and I'm still using it. I noticed here was no heat warning message in the video there. I don't know if that phone is on iOS 7, if not maybe it's a new feature with the last 7 update.
My mom did that with the washing machine with her iPhone 5, it survived. The screen had purple dots all over it but after a week they disappeared and her phone is fine.
The reason the phone shut off when it was cold it’s not because the battery was dead but it couldn’t provide enough power to run the phone Even though it was still charged
