- VAN LIFE SECRET [How To Walk in THe Marble Caves]
The Marble Caves are Instagram Famous! You have likely seen pictures from a boat. The truth is... it is hard to get here. Trveling by van makes it a little more feasible, but it is still a trek! Most people visit the caves by boat from a small tourist city named Tranquil in Southern Chile. But, Snow and Curt discovered that if you drive another two hours thru some mountain switchbacks, well, you can see them by boat... but you can also take a hike thru a 70 meter marble cave! Literally get out of the boat on an island filled with these world famous caves and walk thru them. But, you can only do this from a little known town named Puerto Sanchez. This may be one of the best atours that Snow and Curt have done on their entire van life journey, so if you are headed south to see the caves... you need to watch this video!

Snow you are a tough, brave lady ! Watching you get around those narrow mountain paths, I was terrified. I have a fear of heights so I would never do what you do. Snow, my love. Watching you actually walk through the caves got me all choked up. Yes, the marble caves are glorious, but they are nothing compared to the look on your face when you did that tour. You've survived/conquered a major health issue and STILL get out there to live your dream, with your marvelous husband at your side. You two are a great inspiration. Today is my birthday and all my children and most of my grand children were able to make the weekend to not only celebrate my birthday but also my husband and I are celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary! It is hard to even find words to describe what you showed us. The marble caves are unbelievably beautiful. You were brave to go in all of the narrow cramped caves. It triggered my claustrophobia just watching! And the road you took to get there, I was so scared you would have another car coming from the other direction! But the smiles on Snow’s face were almost the best part, especially after the health issues not so long ago. Wonderful video!

I would have had an ulcer driving on that road, especially when there were no guardrails. Imagine the horror of doing that road at night. You both deserve a lot of credit to do some of the adventures you've done. Those Marble caves are a sight to behold for sure!

At about minute 7:10 I caught myself turning my head to the left as if I was riding in the car, and wanting to tell Snow to keep her eyes on the road and "don't look"! "Keep your eyes on the road". I don't know if I'm excited about watching the rest of the video, but it's very beautiful.

Snow, that you decided many years ago that you had to come to this place, and now here you are with Curt - how many people do that? I'm a vicarious viewer, would settle for the pictures. But it's as gorgeous as you said, and I'm glad to be along for your up-close adventure in the marble caves. I was thinking about the health challenges you've weathered, and your face was radiant the whole time you and Curt were doing this adventure. Amazing! My heart was pounding with those roads - are they one-way only? It didn't look like there was room to pass oncoming traffic, and there was no guardrail by the steep drop off! Terrifying! But what a magnificent destination! Thank you for sharing the stunning Marble Caves with us! 💙

Yep!! It happens... Someone has to back up! Usually the other folks when they see we are tourists in a giant van (phew)! But, we had to back up once in Colombia... I almost cried I was so nervous!
Driving those roads have got to be exausting. You guys make my Saturday mornings. Who knows about these marble caves to put them on a bucket list? They are beautiful!

You two are certifiable but ohhh my, the rewards! I can’t even imagine how beautiful those caves were in person. That bumpy road to get there looks second only to that narrow, dirt and gravel switchback road from hell with no guardrails and straight down, I saw Curt 😬 a couple of times LOL. But the places you go and the indescribable beauty you reach, you’re truly living your best life. Thank you so much for sharing these epic places with us. I have done both tours recently and the Sanchez tours are the most complete ones as you say, also they tell all the history of that place. Beautiful videos. I’am glad you are enjoying your stay in my beautiful country. If you go up north to Cerro Castillo, past the town and the first mountains there is a place were you could , if you are lucky, by the little streams that go beside the main street see our National Deer or Huemul. Just stay alert !!

Question: I know this will sound odd but it's the first thing that I immediately wanted to ask. What did it sound like in the marble caves? Your music covered up the sounds so that I couldn't tell. I would've thought of echoes with a naturally hard surface like marble but with all the little chipped surfaces ... did it act like a buffer? Did it deaden the sound instead? 🤔

You both are true adventurers going to such remote places on roads that appear only wide enough for one vehicle? When you speed up the film while driving it’s freaky 🤪 Your Van really takes a beating on those roads….finally these beautiful Marble Caves were worth it!! Snow thanks for all the history! Suggestion: In bad roads you can empty the tires about 10% and the trip will be more confortable.

There are some caves in Michigan,usa, that are called pictures rocks. I've been there. This place in chile by far exceeds the beauty in Michigan and you got to walk through a cave. What a great adventure! Now get off those crazy roads before they become too muddy with all that rain that is coming. So happy you guys got to continue your journey with van life.
