    Looks delicious!!! Can’t wait to get home to try this! And now I’m wondering if tomato soda would be any good…🤔? Also, fig soda 🤭(‘cause i have 2 fig bushes at my house)… I’m gonna be busy this Summer, experimenting with ALL the fruits!!! Thanks Lanni!❤

      Tomato soda? That’s a wild idea! I like how you’re thinking. I’ve never worked with figs before but love to eat them, we haven’t been successful growing them here yet.

      There’s a guy who lives in my state, NC, who has lots of videos on growing figs. The Millennial Gardener. Maybe his videos can give you some tips…

      I bet a good tip would be “don’t run over your baby fig tree with your tractor mower”. Because that’s what we did! LOL

    Could I put lemons in with the strawberries to make a fermented strawberry lemonade?

    • @preservingtoday
      @preservingtoday  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Absolutely! However, I found that adding a lot of citrus peel/pith can make the brew bitter. I juice my lemons and add some fruit, but skip the peel and the white part (pith) especially to avoid the bitter taste that I ended up with when I used whole slices of citrus.

      @@preservingtoday I’m now avoiding the peels of every fruit I purchase from the grocery store…😞 Have you heard about Apeel/EdiPeel…? 😤🤮

    So I tried this and after five days-nothing, no bubbles of any kind! We tasted it and it was just weak strawberry water. Any idea what may have gone wrong?

    • @preservingtoday
      @preservingtoday  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Bummer! I would wonder if the strawberries were treated with something that would inhibit bacterial growth? Or if you used water with chlorine that stopped it?

      @@preservingtoday Interesting! Now that you say this, I had washed the berries in a vinegar/water mix so they would last longer in the fridge. I bet this played a part! Maybe I'll try again next year and not wash them.

      @@anissam5009 That could definitely do it! Washing in vinegar is a great trick for keeping berries fresh in the fridge for longer. For the same reason it helps with shelf life, it hinders fermentation. Thanks for troubleshooting with me. I will definitely mention this in future fermentation videos. :)
