  • @Subaru_Usa loaned me this 2024 Subaru Impreza RS, coming in around $31k, and I road-tripped it so you don’t have to… or maybe you may want to. Available in hatchback ONLY, the 2024 Impreza boasts new styling, a stiffer chassis, and the quick and sharp steering rack from the WRX. But what does this RS model offer other than red accents and sporty badges? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
    🏁 @Alllcarnews Spec Sheet: Base and Sport come with a 2.0L flat-4 making 152HP and 145 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels while the RS gets a 2.5L 4 cylinder making 182HP and 178 lb-ft of torque. All have torque vectoring and an even better lineartronic CVT with 8 speed simulation. 🏁 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
    Highs:
    -Looks are good on the new Impreza, and the RS trim adds a sporty flair that makes me BEG for a new WRX hatch.
    -The chassis, steering, and driving dynamics are shockingly: pretty good; even a match or better in some cases than the Mazda 3.
    -Inside gets tons of visibility and standard Eyesight safety tech.
    Lows:
    -The 2.5L upgrade is welcome and the extra power makes a difference, but fuel economy takes a hit: I couldn’t get over 27MPG even after 500 miles.
    -The interior is… cheap. No more leather options are offered, the tech feels old, outdated, and cluttered, and for the same price you can get a Mazda 3 Hatch AWD with a BMW level premium cabin.
    It gets a 7.5/10 for me. There was a lot to like, but also a lot that bugged me the wrong way.

    People have been dunking over this car saying it’s not worth rs batch… but for me it’s an amazing daily driver and fun weekend getaway car… enough leg room and more than enough boot space… and ya the extra 30 Hp really help

      I kinda understand where enthusiasts come from with the gripe with the RS badge, they could've called it something like "2.5 Sport+". I kinda don't believe it should've really had the RS badge either, but I honestly couldn't care that badly about it. It's a good, solid car, and I'll probably upgrade from my 2013 Sport Limited to this.

    Just bought this as my first new car in over 20 years, still retaining my bought new ‘02 WRX wagon in ‘01. It’s not a 0-60 car but by every other metric it’s a responsive, comfortable and practical sports hatch. Just came back from a 1400 mile road trip to which it was driven fast, in stop and go LA traffic as well as curvy mountain roads and averaged 33.7 MPG

    I love my 2024 Impreza. My only issue for long drive is there is no spare tire in case of emergency (flat tire) and you are in the middle of nowhere. 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

    I love the red accents on the seat bolsters. Really nice. I've ordered a Crosstrek Onyx which has Yellow accents, but I'd much prefer the red LOL

    I don't trust the car computer to give me mpg. My current car, a 2014 Chevy Cruze LTZ, tells me I am getting like 20-22 mpg. Doing my math the old-fashioned way: filling the tank up to max, going on road trip, filling up again and using miles driven/gallons used, I get close to 40 mpg highway. Not the 22 the computer says I am getting.

    • @Allcarnews
      @Allcarnews  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hmm. Depends on the car, most are pretty accurate. They also adapt to your driving style over time and I know for Subaru's they are tied to your trip computer and there is a reading for trip A or trip B.

      @@Allcarnews maybe its just my cars computer is messed up, or bad fuel tank sensor, or something. It IS a GM, after all 😁
      In 2017 I drove from Michigan to St. Louis. Filled up tank 'til pump shut off. Drove 377 miles (outskirts of St Louis) had roughly 1/3 of a tank according to gauge. Filled up until pump shut off again, it took roughly 8.8 gallons. So 377 / 8.8
      Although I didnt look at mpg computer readout, I can gaurantee it said something like 22 mpg... there has to be something wrong with that in my car 🤷‍♂️

    Any rattles/creaks from doors, dash or interior panels when going over not so good pavement? Additionally, at 9:18, did you floor the gas pedal? Just trying to see how the vehicle accelerates.

    • @Allcarnews
      @Allcarnews  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I did floor it there.
      As you can see it’s pretty quick for what it is and it does that fake gear shift thing with the CVT.

    Why do you need RS version to just get a badge and 185 hp is kind of dumb when you can get a base model mazda 3 now with 190 hp and RS impreza still has cloth seats your really just upgrading for no big deal at all.

    I bought the Subaru Impreza Sport edition. The two major reasons why I traded in: The screen is too big and it lags. Having physical air climate control bottoms is a big plus. Subaru uses huge letters to justify the screen size. Two, the seats were not comfortable. The sports edition does not come with automatic seat adjustment. The cushion seat comes with a deep angle. I ended up buying a 2024 Civic Sport and I am happy with it. It has more room for me and the screen size and brightness does not bother me at all at night time. Also, the Impreza does not come with a spare tire and the Civic does!

    • @ryaiariot
      @ryaiariot 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yo, how's the cabin noise in the civic? I've been thinking about getting it vs a RS, Corolla, or Mazda3 hatch, but I heard it was on the louder side. I have a 2013 Sport Limited impreza, so if the civic road noise is quiter than that anyways, then it doesn't matter to me vs the current year competition.

    • @villafontananorte
      @villafontananorte 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @ryaiariot There is zero cabin noise in the 2024 Civic. My only complaint is that the Civic is low and hard to get out. The glove box is small. The Honda Civic (except the top tier) has no coolant temperature gauge in the panel. The entertainment system is NOT wireless.

      @ryaiariot No problem. 2 things that I missed about my Subaru Impreza Sport is the headlights and bigger gas tank. You can see more at night. Civic can do up to 400 miles per tank. Subaru 500 miles.
