I would assume spruce or some type of light straight grained conifer. I'm QLD no way we would split our trees like that. Gotta be Europe I assume, possible USA or canada.
Given the amount of humidity on your windows, I would switch your windows over to shutters. This would allow both moisture release but full air flow inside. Lovely little home either way 🙂

The appeal lies in two things. First it’s good to watch someone making something. Second it feeds into fantasy of escape to a simple life. My guess is the audience is overwhelmingly single men who live in urban areas in developed countries
