Coleman Lanterns Early - to - Late + No Chainsaw Work Today

- In this video, I share the latest on my newest Stihl addition but due to snow mixed with rain couldn't do any chainsaw work. So I did my 3rd lantern video on vintage Coleman lanterns from early to late.

I was hoping to do the saw video, just so I could cover more subjects than one theme in a row, but weather prevented it. Oh well! I was hoping for more snow than we got, as I wanted to do some video footage of our vintage snowmobiles zipping around.
This video was cool I wish you lit each lamp and showed us how bright they are.
I would have to service and fuel all of them to do that, but since many are not used on a regular basis, I don't do that. The early lamps put out less light, and all the later ones put out about the same amount of light, so the ones I have operating give a good representation. Thanks for watching.

I always had a few lanterns around when growing up, as we were active in the Boy Scouts and did a lot of camping. I was reading a newspaper one day and there was a notice for a Coleman collectors meet that was open to the public. This was quite a while ago, and I showed up and was amazed at the variety of stuff they made that was on display So being a junk hound, I joined the Coleman Collectors Club, and the rest is history. I don't have a real large collection, but I wanted a diverse and interesting collection, which I have. I rarely collect them anymore, but once in awhile I find a missing link, and add it to the pile. The International club has done an excellent job of preserving the companies history, which also peaked my interest. So thanks for the comment and for the mention on your channel.

Sounds,Ike the025 carburetor is identical to the original carb on my 026. I replaced it with an adjustable carb when I updated it to 026 Pro standards. I know what you mean about .325 chain. I don’t have but a few saws with it. Most of my saws are 3/8 or 3/8LP. I have not noticed that my .325 chains do not keep an edge any worse than 3/8 chain, but I do sharpen the after each use.
I once have a kerosene Coleman lantern that I picked up at an old Coleman dealer. I took it apart and cleaned it and repaired it but I never got it running
The Stihl green link homeowner low kickback chain on the 025 gets dull in 3 to 4 minutes cutting in hard wood. I have never had any chain dull that quickly. I am thinking that it was a bad batch of chain that wasn't hardened properly. I just put on a new full house Oregon chain, so as soon as the weather breaks, I will get the new carb on and take the saw out for a test.
The newer lanterns have plastic parts in them that's why they put heat shields in them . Those I am not interested in . Love these videos .
Vintage is best.
I have two coleman 200a red lanterns. I found that they put more light out than the two mantle ones.
Using the 500 candlepower mantles really make them put out a lot of light. I really like the 200a's as well.

I have an old blow torch, but I have never checked it out to see if it is repairable/usable. I will take a look, and if it is a viable project, I will put it in a future video.

Too bad Coleman has cheaped out on quality of lare but that's the case with many things.
Too many of our companies have cheapened up their products, and rely on their reputation from the past to sell stuff. Eventually people get smart and stop buying the crapola. A sad state of affairs.

Wish I was a multimillionaire and I could afford some of those rare Coleman lanterns because I would send them your way and give them to you for free
Most Coleman lanterns are not very expensive, and are not rare. They are useful, and there is a lot of interesting history on them as well. Nice thought about sending a bunch of lanterns. My lantern collection represents a good cross section of the different models, even though the number of lanterns I have isn't very big, and there are only a small number of them I would like to add.
