Rules for Lapping in RCC Columns

This video shows some basic rules for lapping the steel bars in RCC Columns. Some of these rules are;
1. The diameter of overlapping steel bars should not exceed 36 mm.
2. Always use smaller diameter of bar while calculating the overlapping length in case of columns.
3. Lapping is only allowed in the compression zone of column where there is no bending moment.
4. The tilt length of steel bars in overlapping can be calculated by using this equation, 6D. Where D is the diameter of the steel bar.

Sir, good explanation, but I have a question that, we calculate lapping length by higher dia of bar ( our sr.said it) and coupler can be use to 36 dia of bar instead of wedding

As per IS 456 -2000 3rd Amendment 2007 Lapping is not provide Diameter greater than 32mm

In existing 3rd floor, how to convert or extend the 4 by 4 column into 9 by 9. hereafter ...does it give strength to take extra 4th floor in the building where below two floors have 9 by 9 column.

Welding of column lapping for 4*12 mm is good or not for 2 ft distance ( all four bar in same distance) only available above slab for 1st floor only house. Does welding reduce its strength. If ok, how much length does it need to welding
