Wow dude, I have to say... This tutorial is amazing. I downloaded Gimp to try and edit some of my images, but it would not open RAW files and it suggested darktable. When I opened darktable it was so complicated and I ruined (not irreversibly :D) my picture so many times. Then I went looking for some tutorials and found yours (also looked up some on how histograms work). My picture looks _so_ good now, and this is just the first one. Thanks a lot man, you're really doing amazing work.
Immensely helpful, Rico! The CLUT use is what I'll work on today while processing. I also saved your video to my playlists for Photography and Tutorials so others may find your channel easier (and I'll have my video with clouds and that cross coming soon). You have been a great help. Thank you.
That's awesome man, I appreciate you placing my videos in your Playlist. That'll be of help to get my channel out there! Looking forward to your video!
I think in recent versions with the colour picker you can ctrl click or something like that and it will go to area mode automatically. Don't have my computer handy but sure you can experiment and work out what I mean.
Great video Rico. Have edited some photos from your guide and it works well. Good to tell about it, calmly and slowly navigating around. It is one of the best videos you have made. !! There's nothing right about low light editing about could You make a video about this? Examples could be from a restaurant with very low light and people. There isn't really anything on youtube about this. Believe it will give many thumbs up.!
Nice edit mate...one thing I would comment on is the use of the lift for shadows or black point..as was mentioned by AP in one of his videos it has a very strong influence so a tiny tiny movement really crushes the shadows in image. I do find using the auto picker with this one is better than trying to move it or I have to increment a value as it is so sensitive. On my screen when you applied it it seemed to crush the trees in the shadows on the right of the image....the highlights and mids in the CB module are more like other modules in that the sliders have range but the lift slider has a crazy powerful effect it is a nuance but many new users watch your videos so I thought i would comment.....nice photo...where were you??
Good tutorial Rico. I had no idea how to use color look up table module. Just one comment about lens correction module. Sometimes it does not work if it is just turned on. Sometimes it must be expanded and particular lens must be selected manually, even if it is already shown as selected. I found that using Windows version of DT. I've never spotted this on Ubuntu. Greetings from Poland :)
Hello Raziel, thank you and welcome! You're right, it doesn't always work automatically. Sometimes you need to select your camera and lens manually. However, if darktable recognizes the camera and lens, then you don't have to select it manually.
Hi man! Thank you for the tutorial! Could you tell me how to activate the "slider" to check the difference between the orignal and the edited picture? Thank you!
@@RicoResolves The point is, I'm trying to start working with RAW photos because my friend told me to do it, following her advice now i have a hard time finding a tool to use on RAW other than JPEG. Since before it was enough to process photos in GIMP, now I am trying to develop the skills of retouching and improving photos so that they look professional
@@RicoResolves I was finally able to get individual images copied, but not in bulk and not folders. Also, when I try to copy PSD files it gives me an error. If I can't get ALL my images into DT what's the point?
best tut on darktable i have seen so far.. what a difference to see someone who actually knows what he's doing xD
Thank you for your awesome comment! I appreciate your support and compliment!

Basic stuff that make a huge difference! Although basic modules, I learned à lot again. Thanks again for another excellent tutorial Rico 👍👍👍
Trés bien Claude!
Hi...your video are a real source of inspiration and thanks to them I'm learning how to use darktable from scratch. Thank you so much
You are very welcome Stefano! I'm glad they help you!
Wow. Big difference. I usually hit the like button before I even watch, as I know that Rico delivers a winner every time.
😁👍
I really appreciate your tutorial. You explain the steps and the reasons for using particular modules in an easy to follow manner. Thank you!

Yes, that's correct. When using the color zones for instance. It'll automatically increase the saturation of pixels taken from a certain area etc.
Another good video Rico
Thank you very much Frank!
Thanks!

Hello Erik, does this video help? th-cam.com/video/XmO1_RKfpE8/w-d-xo.html
Or do you mean something else?
No Rico. J need photos with persons in dark surrondings. J sometimes find it difficult to get the details out on face and dark clothing. Regards Erik
I'll have a look and see what I can do
I will look forward to that!!

Great addition. It's very powerful indeed 😉. This picture was taken in Switzerland at the Oeschinensee.

Hi, you do great stuff! Is it possible to use color chart with darktable?
Hey Piotr, is this an answer to your question?
www.darktable.org/usermanual/en/darktable_chart.html
No any newer version updates ?
Not yet, been very busy
Hi man! Thank you for the tutorial! Could you tell me how to activate the "slider" to check the difference between the orignal and the edited picture?

Already found it, thanks!

I'm new here to learn Darktable 3.6, looks like is bit advance for me.
You'll master it in no time!

@@e75system well darktable is a great program to help you with that!
I installed DT on my Win 10 PC. When I open import is says no supported files found. I use Lightroom and Photoshop all the time. What's happening!
Have you tried downloading the photo from the link in the description? Let me know if that works. You'll need to navigate to the right folder.
@@RicoResolves I'm sorry, which link?

Hi, you guy! Why do all the nice work to the image and then clip the clouds?
Cause I'm an amateur! 😅👌
@@RicoResolves Excuses... ;O)
favorites doesn't exist anymore on 3.6.1
Not true, check one of my latest videos on how to bring it back :)
Pretty bland shot really
Thanks!
